Mar 15 2011Crocheted Futurama Bender 'Toque' (Hat)

OMG SOMEBODY GET THAT ROBOT A BEER BEFORE HE KILLS US ALL.
I had to look up what a toque was because I thought it was when you smoke the marijuanas but that made zero sense in this context. Nope, turns out it's a brimless hat most commonly known for being the tall white ones chefs wear. Hey, you learn something new everyday. Today I learned I don't give a f*** what a toque is.
Check out this Bender toque that was crocheted by hand by [Etsy seller] Cheewawamomma!
You have to admit that Bender is one of the most likable robots on TV, given his sunny disposition. Although I'm not sure if the kid wearing the toque should be having her mind corrupted by watching Futurama yet, adults sure can enjoy it. I guess that's why the hat is covering up her eyes and ears.
Thanks but no thanks, lady, I have my own bender helmet. Get it? Because my mom makes me wear protective headgear so I don't injure myself when I'm drunk. It used to be a lacrosse helmet, but I recently switched to a motorcycle helmet because I think it makes me look more like a fighter pilot. ROGER DODGER BOGEY BARTENDER, GW NEEDS ANOTHER SHOT, OVER. "You're cut off." OH COME ON -- BECAUSE I PISSED MY FLIGHT-SUIT?! "Those are capris." I'M A NAVY PILOT.
Hit the jump for a crocheted Bender toilet paper cover made by the same artist.

Seriously you have no idea what a Toque is? Its most commonly known as a warm brimless hat that is worn to keep your head warm in cold climates. Us Canadians have several Toques each. It usually goes hand in hand with a scarf and gloves/mittens.

@2 Believe it or not but some people live in climates that never get cold enough for a toque to be of any use. Pull your head our of your mooses ass and get some perspective.

@4 Believe it or not but a lot of people in America (and the world, if you consider that a place worth mentioning) do live in places where a toque would be helpful and would be considered a common household item. Just sayin'.

I see a lot of controversy about what is a toque, why you don't know what a toque is but... this is no toque. That's a tuque!! A toque is the tall white hat of the cook, a tuque is a knitted cap. So all of you that was pissed about someone not knowing what a toque was... well... you didn't knew either.
24. Brittiny - March 16, 2011 10:19 AM
What better place to put that then a little girls head.
25. Captainzissou - March 16, 2011 12:33 PM

Awww, that little girl is so cute with that tuque!!

@26 Unfortunately that girl has a bad case of gingervitis.
28. McFeely Smackup - March 16, 2011 6:04 PM
Well, considering that "tuque" is a fucking French word and nobody in the civilized world speaks French, why the fuck would anyone know what the hell you're talking about? Here in the First World, we call it a "cap".
29. scallywag - March 17, 2011 11:48 AM
Why is everyone bashing each other over this?
Americans may or may not need warm hats depending on where they live
Tuque is a word commonly used in Canada for a warm knitted hat
Spelling the word as Touque is not as common as Tuque but still accepted and the word was most likely derived from the original Touque as a hat worn by chefs
English or english derivatives is the most widely spoken language globally in countries of all kinds first world and third. If the poster before me is referring to the first world with a definition widely accepted as being capitalistic and democratic then your assertion that french is never spoken in these countries is false. French is an official language in at least France, Belgium and Canada. There are many different words for this simple style of hat, I won't list them all here, and cap also commonly refers to a brimmed hat commonly worn in baseball.
30. McFeely Smackup - March 17, 2011 2:27 PM
Your definition is resoundingly incorrect.
First World: The United States of America
Second World: Capitalistic nations with a high standard of living
Third World: shitholes that speak French.

@4 How about YOU get some perspective? learn wtf a toque, stop being so ignant, and s t f u.
34. European Guy - March 21, 2011 1:30 PM
I've never heard the word 'toque' before. I don't think I'll remember it.
Is it normal for Americans and Canadians to get so wound up about something this inconsequent?
Cute hat.
35. Kevin - March 22, 2011 6:00 PM
@17 Oh shit it's moot
36. 1LastShot - March 22, 2011 6:05 PM

How do you see with it on though? I guess I can wear it during naps.
