Nov 30 2010God Bless America: Little Girls With Guns

Warms the heart, doesn't it? It really does. I love how they're not even standing on the ground, but in chairs and on the table. Safety first, you know? Oh, and for all you 3 to 7-year old Geekologie readers out there, these are NOT the girls you're gonna want to date in ten years. And not just because they'll snipe you for breaking up with them, because you'll probably never even live that far. No, long before your parting headshot their father is gonna blow you a new a-hole for bringing them home late. Just sayin', you want to go #2 out the side of a buttcheek for the rest of your life? Of course you do, you'll be able to handle all your waste management at a urinal. I know I'm jealous!

Thanks to Chris, who agrees guns are an important part of a child's development.

This gives a new interpretation to the phrase "Shotgun Wedding," when it's the bride that's holding the firearm.
4. Daiya Darko - November 30, 2010 2:51 PM
Reminds me of that video of a girl about 11 years old disassembling and reassembling a gun in under a minute and looking darn pleased. God bless this country.

The best parents start preparing their children to fight zombies as soon as they can hold up a gun.

You know I remember back when I was in highschool I was watching a documentary talking about how in Afghanistan kids would play around with loaded Ak-47's like they were toys, and they'd be encouraged by their parents to do so. I remembered thinking "Christ...I can't even imagine living in a society like that..."
Oh, to be young and naive again.
8. Seth - November 30, 2010 2:54 PM
btw, I'd date them NOW! Why wait, age is just a number.

The comment sections on this site have strangely become even more entertaining than the articles to which they are attached. Bravo, gentlemen.
Or gentleman, if it's just one guy with multiple online personalities arguing with himself. Which, honestly, would make it even MORE entertaining.
33. Brian - November 30, 2010 3:52 PM
@29 and whoever cares - the girl on the left is holding a Mossberg 590 shotgun, the one in the middle is rocking a TEC-DC9 (Tec-9 variant), and the one furtherest to the right is holding a AR-15 variant (probably a post-ban style Bushmaster) which has a carbine length handguard, yet a A2 style long stock and a heavy barrel. The scope is just tacky eye candy, and I couldn't begin to care enough to look up what it is. Sadly, and lastly........ I think I know the parents. One of my old Army buddies posted this awhile back claiming he :loved his little girls". I know for a fact he has three girls, and owns weapons such as those. The Mossberg 590 is a one of the standard military shotguns, and the AR-15 variant is common of the various M4, M16, and Stoner rifles out there in the military.

36. McFeely Smackup - November 30, 2010 3:57 PM
It's always funny to see the reaction that people opposed to guns (or just afraid of) have when they see pictures of children around guns.
I know it's a shock, and you might not believe it...but an unloaded gun is just a piece of metal. No more dangerous than a hammer, or a brick.
Personally, my reaction was glad to see that all weapons were pointed in (apparently) safe directions, and no fingers on the trigger. Good habits start early.
37. A - November 30, 2010 3:57 PM
@33 - I care.... not about guns, but your persistence in keeping the comments section relevant! Good knowledge of fire arms though, you should be commenting with the pedantic nerds on boingboing instead

40. A - November 30, 2010 4:07 PM
@38 - do you see anyone else spamming for their shitty blog in the comments, other than the hongkongeze autospamming bots??! Your views are not interesting, and if you were actually an aspiring writer like your bio says, than you shouldn't be whoring your good name out on geekologie. Now where can I get some versache purses at rock bottom prices??
41. glenn - November 30, 2010 4:21 PM
There is nothing wrong with this.
I am not being sarcastic.
For one, I am sure they guns are NOT loaded.
Secondly, each of them - even at this young age is displaying good trigger discipline (ie: keep your booger-hook off the trigger)
Third, I am quite sure that the youngest one doesn't actually shoot that gun - it's a posed picture lol. I have one of me in a barrel at Niagra Falls at that age - I can assure you I didn't go over the Falls in it!
Kids who's parent's hide guns from and are taught they are bad and they shouldn't ever touch them are the kids that end up sneaking over to it and hurting themselves or others accidentally.
42. Zoinks - November 30, 2010 4:24 PM
@24 From Left to right Mossberg 12 GA, Cobray m911, Bushmaster M4 knock off with leupold scope. Now if its for the the nieces I would upgrade the wanna be MAC-10 with a nice Glock 18 F\A and High Cap mags
43. Dishy - November 30, 2010 4:35 PM
@33 Brian, @42 Zoinks, thanks.
Zoinks, google images agrees with Brian, the middle one is prbly a TEC-DC9. The Cobray handle/magazine are a little different.

55. a constitutionalist - November 30, 2010 5:57 PM
Amen #41. My children.... ALL of them own guns (technically still in my name.) They are all well aware of gun safety and are better shots than most adults.
People who hide guns from their children, teaching them how to fear them, are wrong. We have in excess of 100 guns in our home (collecters if you will) and none of them are locked up, and only 4 of them are loaded, the ones my man and I carry, and the ones we have on our bedside tables.
Half of you are children and the other half it seems are ignorant idiots. with only a couple of exceptions.
I'm going back to my highly technical and well paying job..... (Hillbillies and wellfare checks my fucking ass)
56. McFeely Smackup - November 30, 2010 6:25 PM
@ 55. a constitutionalist
with all due respect...buy a safe. I'm glad your kids are safety trained, but one housebreaking and you've just unleashed over a hundred guns into the criminal market.
Firearm responsibilities don't stop at safety.
57. a constitutionalist - November 30, 2010 6:45 PM
#58, we live in the far suburbs, someone is almost always there and we have multiple alarms, as well as outdoor and indoor cameras... My husband works from home and knows all the local pd and sheriffs, also more than a few border patrol, and various elected officials....
The Gun ROOM (a ROOM) is locked and reinforced, also individually alarmed, only our personal guns and guns on the wall racks are not "put up"
WTF do you think we are idiots? Or just ignorant?
Do the children have access to that room? Yes..... because it doesnt stay locked while we are home. Hence the need for education in safe gun practices. Shooting isnt just for fun for children, it teaches them the true impact of what a gun can do, that they are tools, not toys.

"Oh, and for all you 3 to 7-year old Geekologie readers out there, these are NOT the girls you're gonna want to date in ten years."
Damn. I've been reading this site for years now, loving it, and this is the first thing that made me realize that you think your audience is entirely male. Kind of made me feel like geek women like me are meant to be excluded from your geek club. Thanks.
62. Eggy - December 1, 2010 6:03 AM
What is with America and its obsession with guns and war? If you truly think you need guns to protect yourselves over there maybe you should move somewhere else.

only boys date girls? Too bad the 3 to 7 LGBT crowd can't be in YOUR little club. Stop being so closed minded.
67. LibsMustDie - December 1, 2010 9:09 AM
@69, I don't know what country you are from, but chances are, America has saved your country from anhialation and takeover 3-4 times by now. Show a little gratuity next time instead of being so self righteous.
68. Seth - December 1, 2010 10:13 AM
@75: I think you mean "gratitude." Unless you meant for her to give you a 15% tip on the total bill from being saved by America.
69. Thumperchick - December 1, 2010 11:21 AM
I see my future in this picture...
I grew up around firearms, and was taught to respect them. I see nothing wrong with this.
70. bambam - December 1, 2010 12:20 PM
@24 and anyone else who was wondering: Left: probably just a run of the mill 12ga pump modded with a pistol grip (barrel is slightly too long to be a tac model), middle: looks kind of like an H&K 9mm or a modified MP5 9mm without the stock or forward grip, right: M4 style/AR15 A3 (possibly A2 but unlikely, I cant tell if it has the forward assist or not from that pic) , bull barrel with a hunting scope + 30 round mag. Why this person would put a standard mount bull barrel and not a free float on that rifle is beyond me.
@73: I agree. If people teach their children properly, they will be taught to respect firearms. Guns kill people like spoons make people fat.
71. bambam - December 1, 2010 12:24 PM
@33: I have no idea how you were able to make that out from that picture as dark as it is... but now that I think about it, it could be a tek-9 too, but we cant see the left side of it to be sure.
72. Skylar AKA Christian Tearanny - December 1, 2010 1:02 PM
From the time I was old enough to toddle, I was taught about firearms. Never touch them, if you see one lying out tell Mommy, etc... When I was 5 I was taught to use a shotgun. I am now a crack shot. Keep in mind, USMC brat, Daddy was a drill instructor! *laughing*
There isn't a thing wrong with a posed photo including firearms, SO LONG AS THE WEAPONS WERE EMPTY and the children know firearm safety!! Weapons of any type arent toys, but they are FUN to take photos with! So nyah nyah!!
73. Brian - December 2, 2010 11:25 AM
@75 bambam - it's obviously a TEC-9 variant. You might be more used to seeing one with a slightly longer barrel w/ shroud. This is more then likley the semi auto version, which were sold in high demand after the Clinton ban under the guise of a "semi-auto pistol". Which technically it is, hence why it was sold, and so popular during that initial period. These were also sold (more so) without the barrel shroud.
@37 A.- Can't say I've heard of "boingboing", but if it's anything like most firearm blogs/forums...... there's generally too much 2nd amendment preaching going on. I know as much as I know, because I own a lot of firearms, but serve in a law enforcement position. I think of myself as a "middle of the road" kind of guy. I don't think everyone should be able to own/possess a gun, yet I don't think they should be regulated or controlled as much. I'm very indifferent when it comes to the topic.
Lastly..... those clearly are not my old Army buddies daughters. Oddly enough, he did post an extremely similar picture. They too were also practising proper carry, and muzzle direction. Teach your children right, and they'll learn. If you tell them, "the pot on the stove is hot, don't touch it"....... chances are they won't pick it up with their bare hands.
74. Cori - January 4, 2011 8:47 PM
Wow, parents are idiots. Everyone would be whining if one of these girls accidentally shot another one but if they're holding them it's cool. And for Seth who says he'd date them now... what a PEDOPHILE! He needs to be shot, I can't STAND child molesters Seth.
75. Cori - January 4, 2011 8:55 PM
Does nobody else notice Seth is a pedophile? He'd date them now? Wow dude... totally sick!
76. Cori - January 4, 2011 8:57 PM
Oops the site said the first one didn't post.
