Nov 23 2010Battle Of The Lords: Vader Versus Voldemort

This is a little chart sizing up Lord Vader vs. Lord Voldemort in the battle of dark lords. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE, WHO WILL WIN? SPOILER: Voldemort. WTF?
Vader Vs. Voldemort [buzzfeed]
Thanks to Erica93, who could whip both their monkey asses and still have time to beat up Lord Sauron before her mom calls her to dinner.

hahahahha yes!
however, lord voldemort isn't trying to kill robert pattinson, its daniel radcliff..........
harry potter not twilight vamp
2. duane - November 23, 2010 4:02 PM
yah thats retarded. ITs fucking vader for jebus's sake. Dudes got a fucking lightsaber
3. Brian - November 23, 2010 4:06 PM
1. How the hell was Vader "defeated by a powerful sith lord"? He was defeated by Luke then sacrificed himself to save Luke.
2. How the hell is "avada kedavra" tied with "force choke"? force choke > everything.
4. Dishy (amateur gynocologist) - November 23, 2010 4:07 PM
@2 is right. Vader's lightsaber is much bigger than Vlodie's wand.
5. jaime - November 23, 2010 4:08 PM
i think it's pretty unfair that killing someone counts for more than blowing up a whole planet... considering it's pattinson helps though.
@1 if you wrote that for real, let me point you to rpat's imdb page. there you will find a certain piece of information that will surprise you. he plays diggory in the potter movies.
6. Vandal - November 23, 2010 4:10 PM
So many mistakes in this it's not worth a wank.
Here's the one and only question they should've used.
Is he Darth Vader?
Yes - No
Vader wins.

he did kill pale boy in the goblet of fire. Learn your HP, woman!

14. Horace - November 23, 2010 4:24 PM
Rowling most likely won't go back and mess with the characters, so, unfortunately, Vader loses every time.
Blame it on Lucas.
15. Duby - November 23, 2010 4:25 PM
Uhm Darth was in way more movies then that... just not necessarily good ones...
16. whacko - November 23, 2010 4:29 PM
Not fair. Killing Robert Pattinson is a GOOD thing, Darth Vader should have won that one for killing an entire planet.
17. X6Gothic6Chik6X - November 23, 2010 4:46 PM
I Agree killing Robert Pattinson was a fantastic thing and much more enjoyable then a blown up planet.. but Vader totally had him on Force choke and if youre counting movies with Vader.. I can think of quite a few more then 6 (Starwars Holiday special anyone? lulz) Plus if you count Anakin, before Vader was Vader, that brings things into the double digits easy.
18. austin - November 23, 2010 4:57 PM
The survey was totally rigged, VADER ALL DAY! Suck my dack, batch.
19. mike - November 23, 2010 5:00 PM
btw, didn't wormtail actually kill r pat, voldemort just gave the order. i could be wrong, though.
i always thought orochimaru made a great bad guy comparison with voldemort, imo.
20. Munkey_Spanc - November 23, 2010 5:04 PM
@17 & 18
Voldemort wins in awesomeness when it comes to killing glitter boy.
@1 -_-; he never succeeded in killing radcliffe, he did happen to kill off whiny faux-pretty boy in the 4th movie.
and technically vader didn't blow up the planet. he had his people do it. it was someone else who gave the order. "You're far too trusting, princess..."
Tarkin FTW!
21. Beat Master - November 23, 2010 5:04 PM
This shit is weak, Molty doesn't even have spaceships and shit.
22. ciao - November 23, 2010 5:11 PM
Vader blew up a planet full of millions, and snake dude just killed one bloak.
oh and Vader also has a laser stick.
23. Munkey_Spanc - November 23, 2010 5:11 PM
hmm. @19. you're right! WORMTAIL killed Edward!
it's a tie!
and Little Orphan Ani was a whiny wimp pre-vader. and post vader was a half assed villain who took orders from 2 people more powerful than he was. (tarkin politically and militarily, and the emperor. )
24. Cranman - November 23, 2010 5:11 PM
I think Vader should have won the typical evil deed! He blew up a freaking planet!! wile slimy over there just killed sombody.. woo hoo :P vader just killd like a billion! with a LAzER! ;D PLUS he has a light saber! and the force!!
Vader wins! hands down
25. Munkey_Spanc - November 23, 2010 5:18 PM
Vader wasn't particularly bright.
Outsmarted by ewoks and under equipped guerilla squads in spite of having the might of the entire galaxy at his disposal.
Voldemort was a super-genius. He could fucking fly, kill people at whim, had intricate plans and he scared EVERYONE ever since he was just a child...
In spite of his power, only a few people were really afraid of vader in the movies really. i mean red shirts even mouthed off to him in his face! (yeah i mixed franchises sue me!)
Vader had a friggin laser stick! Vwooon-Vwoon!!
Moldy had a tiny... stick...
26. Munkey_Spanc - November 23, 2010 5:20 PM
Vader was ... a brute lackey. at best. sorry. I'm gonna have to give this one to GW this time.
27. Hey - November 23, 2010 5:22 PM
Got laid?
Vader - Yes
Voldemor - No
Vader wins! flawless victory! FATALITY
28. John Sample - November 23, 2010 5:24 PM
this is a joke right? vader = bad ass of the galaxy. no competition.
29. Munkey_Spanc - November 23, 2010 5:26 PM
@27
you're basing your decision on whether or not they lost their virginity in the movies?
Is it really that important to you?
30. J-Red - November 23, 2010 5:26 PM
To bring to a tie:
Weapon of choice:
Lightsaber ---- stick (lightsaber wins)
And for the final huzzah:
Fulfilled prophecy by:
Killing a bunch of Jedi and would-be Jedi-----dying
Vader wins!
Just for kicks:
Number of oft-quoted lines:
Vader:: several Voldy: any? at all? didn't think so
Preferred Mode of transportation
Big ass spaceships----teleporting/flying (okay, maybe a tie there)
Special powers:
Force---Magic (tie)
Voice ability to intimidate
Asthmatic James Earl Jones-----soft-spoken Ralph Fiennes (JEJ FTW)
Level of fear/infamy
Entire motha-watch-yo-mouth! galaxy-----Entire wizarding world on one planet (Vader wins)
Facial creepiness level
Bald/scarred grandpa-----bald sideshow freak (Voldy gets this one)
Has theme song
Imperial March ------ uh.... some dark music, maybe? (Vader wins)
number of Video Game appearances:
Vader: too many to count Voldy: what, 8?
I can't believe they left this out....Total kills:
If we're counting Alderaan... Billions (hundreds of thousands otherwise)------Thousands?
Most dangerous person employed
Boba Fett ----- Snape? Bellatrix? Doesn't matter. Fett wins. Always
Most loved hero/father figure killed
Obi Wan ------ Voldy didn't actually kill Dumledore, Sirius, or even Lupin... Vader wins again
31. mikesh - November 23, 2010 5:35 PM
typical evil deed should be a point for veda
32. mikesh - November 23, 2010 5:37 PM
@30
thx...
33. Munkey_Spanc - November 23, 2010 5:40 PM
true vader was a psychopath. once he became vader. he willingly killed children without blinking.
the whole galaxy was NOT afraid of him. sorry. He'd gotten lots of disrespect in the movies. And he didn't do anything to kill the planet. Tarkin gave the orders. Tarkin bossed vader around.
With Voldemort everyone (save a small handful, maybe 2 or 3people) who met or heard of him was afraid of him. the fact that he was confined to one planet is not so consequential.
not to mention the magic/force power that each one wielded... Voldemort won hands down. he could controll the minds of dozens of people at once. raise armies of the dead,
Vader could force choke someone from across the room, or across the galaxy if he had him in video chat. and he had a bad ass laser sword which he could throw.
If it came to a fight between Vader and Voldemort, voldemort could easily kill him. period.
Voldemort was pure evil.
Vader was grief stricken and weak willed which is why he fell to the dark side.
34. X6Gothic6Chik6X - November 23, 2010 5:40 PM
@25
I just thought of Vader as a child and he was kinda aggrovating. Made me want to punch someone when he got clingy and retarded.
I agree though as a child, Voldemort was pretty creepy, pretty evil and awesome.
If Vader was Vader and only Vader, never Anakin. Vader is a bad ass, and can distroy a ton and still should totally win.
35. Shelbon - November 23, 2010 5:46 PM
@3 to say he was defeated by Palpatine is inaccurate as he wasn't fighting the emperor. However, the emperor did kill him, however indirectly, but he was still the cause of his demise.
36. Richard McBeef - November 23, 2010 5:47 PM
The YA section at the library is for YAs. That goes for Twihards as well. Sorry you can't read at a high school level. Fuck off.
37. Tennist0 - November 23, 2010 6:16 PM
Typical fight?
Vader: Jedi *check*
Voldemort: babies (ohwait, he can't even kill them...woooooooooow) X
Plus, if we're counting all 6 live-action movies, 2 of which are completely oblivious to Vader's existence, why aren't we counting the animated ones? Also, there are only 7 HP movies out at the moment, if you want to be technical,
38. Arconic - November 23, 2010 6:21 PM
This is the worst comparison i've seen. It's Vader! Darth Vader!
He rules galaxies and strikes fear into countless planets. The only people that are scared of Voldemort are mostly Wizards and people who live in England.
Lightsaber vs a sparkler? cmon.
His other car is a moon sized station with a freakin planet lazer.
How's this for evil, he became so corrupt that he successfully killed countless children and his own wife. Voldemort couldn't even kill a defenseless baby.
Have you seen Vader with his face mask off? Makes Voldemort looks like a bunny jumping over rainbows.
Killing Robert Patterson is something a good person would do. Being evil would be cloning and letting him loose on planets to release twilight movies. That's what you call psychological warefare.
39. Mason - November 23, 2010 6:31 PM
I refuse to accept this information. Destroying an innocent planet to gather info on a rebel base> killing Robert pattinson's character. Nuff said.
40. Max Boivin - November 23, 2010 6:41 PM
I think 30 pretty much nailed it. I won't add anything more than go read his comment.

It's Vader. Search your feelings. You know it to be true.
45. Wedge - November 23, 2010 7:36 PM
I think the question regarding the evil deed is a bit flawed, as it wasn't Vader who blew up alderaan. It was Grand Moff Tarkin... Vader just happened to be standing next him as the order was given. Don't get me wrong, I still think Vader is way more a bad ass... cyborg for christ's sake! Valdemort was a parasite at one point...
46. nope.avi - November 23, 2010 7:56 PM
technically wormtail killed cedric diggory/robert pattenson, not voldemort.
rigged

Are you fuckin' serious???
Lord Vader eat Voldemort in breakfast and shit Potter later!
Vader don't need more than six movies! eight to be evil? please!!
Force choke tie with "avada kedewhatever mean" oh c'mon!
lights from a little piece of wood aren't better than someone making AARGHJ AARGHH sounds
Viva Lord Vader!
and "tom" can suck it!
49. Chupacabra - November 23, 2010 8:58 PM
Lets not forget, Voldermort needs his wand to kill someone and do the greater part of his magic, Vader doesnt even need his lightsaber to kill someone. If they had a fight and vader just used force grab on the wand it would all be over.
50. Paty - November 23, 2010 9:57 PM
Gw, why the fuck would you post these lies.Vader has the fucking force which means countless of combination and powers. Going off video games and movies combined, Vader could pull the wand from Voldermort keep him in place with choke, electrocute the shit out of him. Hell the force is even an extra sense which guides a jedi or sith through many of their paths to take and fights. Anything leading up to the battle would be foreseen and his abilities and moves would be guided through an external force. Vader FTW.
51. Violet - November 23, 2010 10:14 PM
Voldemort was so evil and powerful that he split his SOUL into seven parts and still survived. That's pretty badass. Plus, Vader fell into lava and was so scarred that he needed some extra-special protective suit to survive. Voldy would just zap himself back together or make himself an entire freaking new body (like in book four). People were also so scared of him that they couldn't even say his name. And he gets extra points in my book for feeding his victims to his giant snake. Vader turned evil, but Voldemort was born evil. His win is justified.
52. B-rizzle - November 23, 2010 10:24 PM
Exactly how is killing one person more evil than blowing up a whole planet?
Also, Vader would turn Voldemort's wand into dust before he could cast a spell.
53. Chupacabra - November 23, 2010 10:28 PM
@paty
Vader cant use lightning. It backfires and fucks up his implants, that's how Palpatines' lightning killed him.
54. J-Red - November 23, 2010 10:29 PM
@33-to your point about the fear levels:
Yes, Vader did get talked back to quite a bit, unlike Voldemort. However, consider the proportions. If we assume a similar percentage of people in each scenario, then Vader would have a larger group backtalking. But Voldy simply didn't have as many people to strike fear into. So, using the percentages as the basis - which would be made up on the spot due to the lack of information - I'd be willing to give that point a tie....
And while Voldy has a death ray, as 51 pointed out, the force would likely guide Vader into evading or deflecting each spell.
Sure, Voldy could possibly control a bunch of minds or raise an army from the dead, but Vader can read people's feelings to know who was friend and who was foe, and he'd take one look at a skeletal army and say "You have grown weak, old man." Then he would send in his own expendable army. Ones with blasters set to "Excorcise"
55. J-Red - November 23, 2010 10:41 PM
@53--Valid points! However, one point can be contended: true, Voldy split his soul into seven parts, but one of those parts was embedded in the very kid he was trying to kill, so when he tried he actually ended up killing himself. Without blowing himself up. Vader, however, died by another's hand, though in the pursuit of "good." Maybe that deserves a tie as well, rather than a sway in either one's favor.
I was going to mention the snake back in post 30, but I couldn't think of something that could be considered Vader's "pet" (or even sidekick)
--Athough... Pet/sidekick: Doesn't need one-----giant snake (Tie)
Which reminds me of another point:
Second-in-command: Depends on the week and Vader's mood--------doesn't matter who Voldy's official second in command is.... can't beat Vader's answer.
However:
Power level: Emperor's right hand man-----boss. Voldy wins that one
56. Gavriel - November 23, 2010 11:49 PM
How does Killing Robert Pattinson make Voldemort more evil? I'd call that the act of a hero.
57. p4yn3 - November 24, 2010 12:26 AM
Voldemort hardly ever tries to kill people himself. He is always sending someone to do that stuff for him.
Vader, on the other hand, is straight killing people left and right. I mean he fires his own people by way of force choke and half the time he's not even in the same room. Then there is the fact that Vader doesn't have to say some stupid incantation to do something BA he just does it like he owns the force. Last and not least he knowing cut off his own son's hand.
All in all I feel this terribly mixed up I have to say I feel Vader wins. Force choke totally beats avada kadavra.
58. Garin - November 24, 2010 1:42 AM
Wat?
Darth Vader has killed so many people (Including children). Voldemort's been in 8 movies? Eh so Vader was only in 6 movies, but he's been in countless novels, comics, more fans, and so many toys of him, some people would play over thousands of dollars for one. Vader's theme is made by John Williams, nuff said there. Voldemort uses a magical wand, Vader uses a lightsaber thats hotter than holy shit. Face it, Vader is better in all ways.
59. dick - November 24, 2010 2:41 AM
i dunno i think that blowing up a planet is a little more evil then killing 1 person, also voldemort got his shit beat by a baby so he epic fails

61. bobby - November 24, 2010 4:14 AM
First off, I'm going with Vader. He is the most powerful natural force user ever. Voldemort isn't the most powerful wizard ever, just the most powerful dark wizard. Besides Robert Pattinson dead is a win for the good guys in my book. A world without Twilight is like paradise.
Lightsaber can deflect all spells in theory, it has been used to counter Sith Sorcery if my memory recalls. What can Voldemort use to stop the force?
Let's face it, Vader didn't have trouble with the Ewoks either, it was Tarkin, if Tarkin controlled the military as it was said.
Also Vader wasn't supposed to be out there as a constant threat to be feared. If you know anything about the Sith they are supposed to be tricky people. The Emperor kept Vader on a relatively short leash because who wants people to know about their secret weapon. So throwing out number of people who fear them isn't a valid point.
As for taking shit from people... know the rule of 2 in the Sith Order as established by Darth Bane: "Two there should be; no more, no less. One to embody the power, the other to crave it." Vader only took shit from the Emperor to eventually become more powerful and kill him. Slightly more malicious than just killing rando wizards and not even doing it yourself. Let alone screwing up the one time you are gonna get your hands dirty.
Name one powerful Wizard Voldemort fought himself and beat? None? Lost to Harry and tied with Dumbledoore at best.
Name one powerful Jedi or Sith Vader fought and beat? The Emperor, Kenobi, and Luke (Granted he also lost to all 3) To me Vader's 3-3 record beats Voldemort's 0-1-1 record.
Let's say this was air combat...TIE fighter vs a broom? TIE fighter.
Voldemort also NEEDS his wand to fight. Vader doesn't NEED his saber.
In no way shape or form am I saying this won't be an awesome fight to watch. But I am definitely giving an edge to Vader.
62. Random - November 24, 2010 5:01 AM
Technically, wouldn't killing Pattinson be "good" for everyone, rather than an evil deed? Blowing up a planet is clearly more evil than preventing the release of yet another twilight movie.
Unless you're a twilight fan, in wich case your opinion is irrelevant.
63. bloodandmetal - November 24, 2010 6:24 AM
i find your lack of vader's evilness disturbing...[chokes you to death]...so fuck that no nose white ass motherfucker!!!!!...vader wins biaaacchhh...
64. Devilsnap - November 24, 2010 6:25 AM
NO ! Darth Vader can't lose ! He rocks !
65. Yautja - November 24, 2010 7:27 AM
Wait a minute...Voldemort's been in 8 movies? Let's check the wiki:
"As of 2010, Voldemort appears in six Harry Potter films". He wasn't in Prisoner of Azkaban.
So he *will* be in 7 as of July 2011, but as of now it's a tie.
Check your facts, bro. Name-dropping does not count as being in a movie. If that was the case, anytime any other film mentioned Vader in casual conversation or otherwise would count towards his total.
66. Los - November 24, 2010 7:36 AM
vader killed so many children he wins without comparison. how the hell is volde-whatever in his league?

Vader, ftw.

taken from another site:
"With all the hoopla about how feared Vader is, no one has ever really known how many people he, "disposed of". There's a random offhand reference in the NEGTC that says he killed "billions", but who believes that (stupid rebel propaganda wink )? Okay, the speculation has gone on long enough! I want the truth! grin We've already got some threads like this so one more isn't going to hurt! wink And remember, this only counts for Darth Vader, not Anakin Skywalker. And only the people whom Vader killed personally or DIRECTLY ordered to kill will be counted. So, for example, the eradication of Alderaan wouldn't NOT be on Vader's head because HE didn't order it. He's the head of the Imperial military, it's not his job to pass judgement on a power hungry politition whose methods are "harsh". grin Make sense? Good. happy
Jedi:
A large number of Jedi knights, how many is unknown, confirmed Jedi kills include:
The Dark Woman
Echuu Shen Jon
Obi Wan Kenobi
Rebels:
Captian Antilies
Several dozen Rebel ground soldiers personally killed during his Death Star "Vengence" campaign, in adition to several hundred more killed by his personal troops.
Several dozen rebel fighters (best Imp ace)
Several rebel spies tortured to death
The utter destruction of Rebel capitalships outling the Yavin system with the Executor (several hundred)
A dozen or so Coway (and two Yuzzem) on Mimban
The complete annihilation of rebel forces at the Lybeya shipyards with the Executor (several thousand)
Imperals:
Admiral Ozzel
Baron Tagge (in a round about way)
A half dozen traitorous Admirals at Fondor
A dozen or so of Admiral Zaarin's traitorous fighter forces
A royal gaurd in training on Yinchorr
A dozen or so traitorous Imperial stormtroopers on his Star Destroyer
The Emperor aka Darth Sidious
Several dozen incompetent officers
Criminals:
Valance the Hunter (who murdered an entire medical base)
Staltz (cybornetic alien)
Prince Xizor
Several thousand members of the Black Sun aboard Xizor's fleet and Skyhook
A few dozen criminals and spacers during his search to find and kill a dark Jedi
Other:
A hundred thousand or more Fallen infected with a biological agent
An unknown number of Jedi "charges" (unconfirmed Tales story)
Several dozen monks of the "pessimist" sect
Strange telepathic alien "gamemaster" (what source was this in?)
Feel free to jump in with anything I missed. This is only the first installment after all. Vader still has a lotta people left to kill. mischief tongue
"
FUCK YOU VOLDEMORT.

again from a different person:
Ah, I'd breifly flipped through it a while ago, but Vader cuts down two young rebels that try to kill him in Vader's Quest. It was pretty funny, the guy pulls a peice on Vader and he deflects the shot back into the guy's sister. Then Vader cuts the guy down while he's still in shock that he just killed his own sister.
FUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUU
73. Batsu - November 24, 2010 11:08 AM
Killing Robert Pattinson is more hardcore than blowing up Aldreaan?!
WTF dude.

I can't believe whoever made this chart counted it as 8 harry potter movies.
Face it, there are 7 potter movies and you got duped into being double charged and waiting through a 6 month intermission.
Funny cos splitting a movie into two parts so they can really milk it and make you pay twice to see the whole movie sounds like a George Lucas thing to do... but no, he knows the real money is in merchandising and shitty cartoon spinoffs....

82. Vader FTW - November 25, 2010 9:27 AM
Vader wins on 2 excellent scenes/plot hooks over Voldy:
1. Voldy is just Voldy, born evil, stayed evil, dies evil. Zero charactor development. And when he's dies, he just dies. Crappy writing for a crappy villain.
Vader starts as an innocent kid, loses his family and throug time turns to the dark side, and after countless horrific acts is finally able to find a sort of redemption and transnds death itself. Excellent writing all the way through.
2. Creepiest personal scene: (not an out right deed, that would be action)
Voldy, tough to tell his creepiest scene is his trying to be evil through sneering at someone to getthem to fear him. Did it a dozen times, nothing special about any of them.
Vader, when the innocent children crowded around him in the school and the doors closed on him face twisted in the despair of what he was about to do to seal his fate inturning to the dark side.
Puleeeehz, Voldy is a shallow villain written for teens. Vader is an in depth character with nuances and unpredictability.
No one talks back to Voldy because he is there, and he represents a threat to all the wizards.
Vader killed all the jedi himself but a handfull that fled and hid in the remote corners the galaxy for decades before any resistance could be mounted.
Voldy requires a large cadre of wizards to back him up that he has to constantly ride herd on to get to do his bidding.
Vader, is a sith. And there is always only ever two. Vader did so much as #2, imagine what he could have done had he planned to actually destroy Palpatine, instead of acting on implulse, the one thing that innevitably fails the Sith.

I don't know about anyone else but blowing up a planet and nearly wiping out the Jedi should count as a win over killing one single individual...but that's just me.
91. Darth Wader - December 7, 2010 8:04 PM
I was talking to a friend about Harry Potter, he has never read them or seen Star Wars. I told him that I think that the HP series is far superior to Star Wars.
The comments on here prove one of my bigger points. You people LOVE Vader. Villains shouldn't be likable, not if they are doing their job properly. Your shouldn't love the villain. When you read the Harry Potter series you become emotionally invested in the characters in a way that makes you take it rather personally. Blow up the house of the Weasley's or kill Sirius Black and I am not going to like you very much.
