Jun 29 2010Shop That Built Batpod Replica Now Selling 5 (Street Legal) TRON Lightcycles On eBay

Remember that badass Batpod replica that was selling on eBay a little while ago? Well the guys that made it are now taking orders for five custom TRON Lightcycles. Let's paint this town red purple! I want purple.

the Parker Brothers team is building 5 custom one off "Lightcycles" to the exact specs of the movie bikes. Each bike will be black with an accent color - 5 bikes with 5 different accent colors (red, blue, yellow, green, and orange). There will only be one bike made per color so if you must have a certain color...Disney designers built a "movie prop" of this bike for the TRON Legacy promotions and not a running version so these will be the only known running versions to exist. The engineering behind a fully functional version is mindboggling to say the least.

Each bike will come with either a high powered electric motor or a high performance gasoline motor and transmission depending on the buyers needs. No future "Lightcycles" will be made to ensure the value of these custom motorcycles in the coming years. They will get individual vin numbers at first order 001 to last 005 as well as the original prototype vin number 000.

The back cover opens up at the push of a button and there is a neon glow that exits from the back of the bike to resemble the lightcycles colored light trail from the original game. These bikes will also come with a TRON style helmet (Not DOT Approved)

$35K gets you one. But apparently not in purple, which, if you ask me, is a dealbreaker. Granted I could probably add some aftermarket purple neon, but I don't trust myself. Just sayin' -- one time I did change my own oil with extra virgin olive. What?! I thought that was the good shit!

eBay Auction

Thanks to bryan, who bought one and plans to add streamers to the handlebars. Nice touch.

Jizm my friends...

Ps. In b4 firstards! Woot :D

Finally we have Achieved something great.

Not a single firstard!

These would be cool if they actually existed. Basically, this guy is selling a promise to try to build a lightcycle for you if you give him $35,000. the photos are NOT of the actual bikes, that's the Disney promotional movie prop (non functional).

The auction claims to be able to deliver within 8 weeks of auction close, but they don't even have a photo of their bikes. This is a scam.

If I had the money, I'd buy this in a heartbeat!

If it came with Olivia Wilde in matching glowy color... I might be interested.

@5 I agree this is pretty far fetched. I'd never spend that kind of money, even if I had it lying around, on something that doesn't currently exist.

Im pretty sure I would stalk the rider if I saw this on the road.

Even if this could be done in the time stated from prints to pedal, what is one supposed to do while rolling red and they run into the blue cycle...challenge them?

well if the guy had a video of it running, id consider buying this.... i wonder if it leaves a stream of light when i fly by the cops.....

@4 holy.... you right.... no first tards....

like mcfeely said:

this is a bucnch of bullshit and a waste of a geekologie post....

Deathstar replica in full working condition on sale on EBAY for over 9000$ (built to order on promises and rainbows)

I don't believe it because they said it will be street legal but I really can't see how this could be street legal.

Street legal requires things like headlights, tail lights, turn signals, etc...all things that "lightcycles" don't have. You gotta be a huge sucker to drop money on this.

@14 too true, the neon alone would void the street legal claim in several states. And if they keep it true to the movie the lack of headlight, taillights, and turn signals would void the claim in all states.

I'd rather have the movie prop. Seeing that it looks more awesome than something anyone else could recreate

Very nice! More of a collectors item than a everyday street legal cycle.

Remember that show, To Catch A Predator? It's like that- except for Geeks. Not even a pic of their Prototype? Ballsy? Or someone expertly spoofing? I dunno. Be great to have one... but more like I'll believe it when I see it.

Assuming this is ligit I think the biggest question is; Will it blend?

@ jaja, pointing out that there have been no firstards is almost as bad as there actually being one.

! there is a "web//site" named "blackwhitesingle.c/o/m" for dateing or relationship, black or white singles can go there to find someone sexy or beauty online !!!Interracial dateing or relationship is not a problem there, but a great merit to cherish! You are guaranteed to be your r the one of them

No way dude! Do want! That is just too cool!

Does it turn on 90 degrees?

I just fucking cried, creamed my pants, and hated the world a bit all at the same time.

Damnit this is beautiful and I would FUCKING LOVE to ride one of these motherfuckers!

Apparently, Mr. titsmcgee is not only a Firstard, the poor sap was beaten to it by 9 full posts. FTF!!

Turn signals and headlamp/taillamp not such a big deal.

The glowy shit is a bit more. Several states restrict the use of blue or red lights in any capacity. Others, you can't see the bulb... which means you have to do the undercarriage style lighting where you see the glow, but the bulb itself isn't visible. Regardless, if they didn't have to be on, it shouldn't affect the street legality.

I wonder what the retail on these Tron Replica bikes are. They look pretty darn sweet, safety would be a concern as well.

"Turn signals and headlamp/taillamp not such a big deal."

no, not unless you want "street legal", then it's a very big deal.

Also, I suspect commenter #31 neither read the article, synopsis, or any of the comments.

People - Do some research before bashing others. You can watch the actual build on youtube right now and they are indeed street legal. The glowing lights go off and on with a button according to the ebay ad. The people that wanted to "wait and see" can just hold their breath now cuz they are all SOLD. Still the videos are interesting from an engineering point of view. Type in "tron lightcycle real" on youtube and you should see the videos.
