May 22 2010Bad Things Really Do Come In Small Packages: Latest Video Of Littledog

Note: Video is after the jump because it's too disturbing for the front page.
Remember BigDog? Remember its redheaded stepbrother, LittleDog? I know, I've been trying to drink away the memory too. But this is reality folks, and it's time we face the facts. And the fact is this thing is probably gonna kill us all. I'M JUST KEEPIN' IT REAL. That said, there's no way you can watch the way LittleDog moves and tell me it's not some kind of top-secret genetically modified womprat hybrid in a robot suit. I'm on to you, government! And don't even THINK about big brothering my ass unless you want binoculars full of schlong. I'm being serious. *waving penis around like a helicopter* Oh. My. God. I'm hovering -- I'M HOVERING!
Hit the jump for the disturbing video.

what is it with you and "robots are going to end us" thing. you realize that it is physically impossible for a robot to have a mind of its own, right? i don't care how many cheap 1 star horror movies you have watched it will never happen. robots are programmed how we want them, and even when they are programmed to learn they only learn in ways that we want. i only am saying this because i've gotten pretty tired of your blind ignorance and its just not funny anymore.
24. justmy2cents - May 23, 2010 1:16 AM
ladies and gentlemen... we are all FUCKED..
25. justmy2cents - May 23, 2010 1:30 AM
oh and @23.. Tim.. I see your point and completely disagree with you.. personally I think it's a dead heat between the Robot Apocalypse, the Zombie Apocalypse (see the man made DNA post from yesterday.. thnx GW), the 2012 doomsday theories, hell, I'll even toss nuclear warfare and social economic collapse as to what may be the demise of life as we know it. But think of it this way.. when they first invented the computer, do you suppose they knew there would be gigs of computing power available in a cell phone, they didn't even have cell phones.. and i'm sure as shit they didn't invent the computer and then say, ok next lets make a robot that walks and learns on its own... my point being.. they didn't know what is/are the limits of scientific technology, and neither do you my friend.. they made a robot LEARN.. on its own..
Change is the nature of our being.. but we honestly don't have a fucking clue what is coming.. ANYTHING is possible...
any who... just my $.02

27. TheOriginalKat - May 23, 2010 1:47 AM
@25.... Thank you for that. You're amazing,
28. Natt - May 23, 2010 2:24 AM
@23 Clearly the English language is lost on you as you're missing the literary device known as sarcasm (as subtle as it may be) that is being employed with all of the apocalypse posts on Geekologie. I'd suggest you go brush up on your language skills before you get bent out of shape over the posts the GW comes up with. Nobody is force feeding you this website; if you don't find it amusing, go elsewhere.
Also, although the robot apocalypse is highly unlikely, the limits of artificial intelligence are completely unknown, and it's not only ignorant but also impossible for you to state that computers will never be able to learn. The human brain is nothing more than a really complex computer (or computers in a mesh network). Although humans are the ones that tell a computer how to behave, who is to say we can't one day achieve the same level of learning in a computer that our brain has? We're getting one step closer each day. Computers have far surpassed our computational abilities and can one day better us in reasoning and learning because they're not bound by the biology they're born into (our body, specifically our brain).
Also, what are you doing trying to (incorrectly and un-educatedly) argue a point on Geekologie? You're only supposed to try and write the first post or make fun of those who do. Don't bring logic here, you're just going to lose.

Are you sure it's not the new Tool video before post-processing?

31. fashionclothes - May 23, 2010 6:42 AM
Forced by the pressures of life, people of breath. Have you ever thought to make our lives easier ever?
=== You know, fashionable clothes can be adjusted people's taste? ====
Fashion clothes, fashion bags, different styles of clothing.
More styles and colors let you pick. Do not let the pressure overwhelm us.
Let us lead a life of ease. If you have other methods. Please share with us.

39. they're real and they're spectacular - May 23, 2010 2:15 PM
anyone else reminded of the creepy robotic hound from Fahrenheit 451? they just need to combine it with the robot that gives you shots, and there you go, the end is nigh.

OMG THE WAY IT MOVES IS F***ING CREEPY! KILL IT! BURN IT WITH FIRE!!!
43. Kingoftime - May 23, 2010 10:21 PM
@23 shut your fucking face uncle fucker. Nobody gives a shit what you think. Plus your stupid for completely ruling out the possibility that robots can take over. Of course anything we have now can't do this but in the future we will have real artificial intelligence. but I suppose it's just that you can't comprehend something like that...
44. Jasmine - May 24, 2010 12:04 AM
Um, did anyone else catch the dialogue @ 1:58: "An additional benefit for such controller is that it allows for safer human interaction with possibly dangerous robots".
WTF!!!!
45. reason - May 24, 2010 3:28 AM
@ everyone. i'm surprised this doesn't concern more of you. notice the DARPA emblem. i dont care if computing machinery of any kind can become intelligent or conscious. the people who control it are. are in this case they are bad people. but fuck it lets crack some jokes and ignore it right?
46. dr.yosh - May 24, 2010 5:20 AM
Not even ED 209 did all this stuff. I'll buy 30 and I will invade U.S.A.
47. unbeliever - May 24, 2010 7:50 AM
@23 - did you ever consider that someone might program a robot in a way that YOU didn't like, or that someone without any morals or ethics might program a robot (10-20 years down the track) to go around killing everything that moves? Extend this to robots that operate from a mobile command vehicle with a few-hundred kilometre range. Extend this again to robots that are repaired by other robots. What if there was a 'robot in every home' 200 years down the line, and said robot's 'brain' was implanted with a psychotic kill mode that engaged on a certain date? Perhaps you are right that robots won't ever be 'smarter' than us, but if they never need to sleep or eat or drink, are deadly accurate with weapons, their improved 'efficiency' could well mean many, many people dead.
Now if they'd just quip this little robot with a tiny lazer for burning out kitten's eyes I'd be all over it...
48. JADE - May 24, 2010 9:19 AM
@23 did you not see that damn thing learning when it made a wrong step? Computers aka robots can learn, if in the wrong hands it can be a bad thing. We are so worried about weapons of mass destuction, do you not think a robot with the right tools can cause mass detruction? There needs to be more regulation of robots if you ask me.

Anyone else notice that the logo at the end is a robot holding a fresh human brain?! (Can be seen better at http://www-clmc.usc.edu/ website given in the video).
This guy is why robots will kill us all. Because of what the jocks did to him. http://www-clmc.usc.edu/uploads/Main/HomePage/master.jpg
