Dec 29 2009Not Too Bad: 'I'm On A Mac' Music Video

'I'm on a Mac' is a music video spoofing -- you'll never guess -- The Lonely Island's, 'I'm on a Boat'. It was good and watching it I surprisingly didn't want to jam the business end of an umbrella in my eyes and ears. So, yeah, I guess that's an endorsement. Corporate America -- call me.

Hey dave, good job there, you get a gold star for being so special...

Long live the robots

Huh? Geekologie's got FB? *joins*

awesome... good autotuning.

The best thing about this video was probably the girl.

ROTF, cool find! Might have been from the spoof contest?

"I'm On A Boat" spoof-contest winner (I'm On A Phone):

I'm on a mac too. Perhaps me and this guy can go get starbucks and talk about scarves and sweaters and how awesome we are because we use macs.

Another one!? You make a parody of something thats already a parody!! DAMN YOU INTERNET

A paroparody.... genius

@8 I had heard about that contest, nice

Uh, Geekologie writer... what the fuck is wrong with you? That was absolutely terrible. And I definitely did want to pour magma in my ears.

I must disagree with GW it did make me want to jam the business end of an umbrella in my eyes and ears. So I did GW you'll be hearing from my lawyers Howie Dewie & Screwhim.

Wow, mac fan boys are not clever in the slightest. Half the rhymes have no correlation to the subject of a "mac" such as when they begin singing about iphones.

This crap has already been covered on TechCrunch, and Fake Steve Jobs, and I'm sure a slew of other sites. Considering that blogging is the GW's primary initiative, it might behoove him to check what some of the most popular blogs have already posted.

Oh yeah, and regarding the video - not remotely funny. I cracked a tooth clenching my jaw as I watched this.

Utter garbage...

We sure have a lot of whiners on here today. Did the cat poop in your coffee again?

@16 no shit...

meh.. >.>

@14:

iPhone...

I think there might be a correlation, try Googling it.

@16 I think someone pissed in their Corn Flakes..... just sayin

WOW!! THIS IS THE GREATS VIDEO IN THE WORDL!!!! WOOWWW WOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW thats because i have a mac and you can be a C.E.O.

I think perhaps the video would have been better had I not been randomly subjected to a nerd's junk in his bodysuit on my screen. Please get a cod piece or something!

heh. Nerdcore.

Psh

I'm On A Mount > I'm On A Mac

One is ledgendary, the other is just.. meh...

Like the Thinkpad in that vid a lot more..

Wow, if anyone ever needed more proof that mac-a$$holes try too hard, THIS is it.

fucking awful

It's too bad that the only reason mac gets such a push is that it is for all the people who cannot use mice(hence why they have only one button)

Nobody who uses MAC has anything to do with the computer world. Period. Jobs needs a life along with the fuckin losers

@28 Zebra

If you knew anything about Macintosh You would realize the Mighty Mouse isn't one single button. It may look like one button, but if you click on the left side... Its a left click. and if you click on the right side, it's a right click. Not to mention how badass it is to sync your Expose to the the trackball button. Or maybe you would want to sync "Minimize All" and go to the desktop by clicking the side button.

Do some research before commenting. You probably didn't even know that Apple was the first to introduce the "mouse" to begin with.

Also, almost 20 percent of the computer world is using Macintosh now. Not only that, but they are probably producing a lot of the television shows, movies, and records that you are listening to.

Only a small percentage of drivers will drive a BMW... however, that hardly means that a BMW doesn't have anything to do with the automobile industry.

@30
You're trying too hard.

@31
it's called pwning. You should be familiar with the business end of it by now.

@30

Yeah, the difference is that most people who drive BMW's don't CONSTANTLY talk about how much better their car is than all other cars on the road. They don't need to CONSTANTLY try to make others feel inferior simply because they can't afford a BMW.

Mac users on the other hand...

I want to buy a Mac, but this video is making me think twice... I don't want to be put in the same category as these people. The cool thing I like about them is their dependability and ease of use. Not to mention the fact that software made for Macs creates quality creations, be it video, audio, or graphics. However, I like the level of control I have with Windows. True, Windows usually crashes 50 times more than a Mac, and oh yes, I implied Macs do crash, I have seen it, of course, where I need a computer is usually pc hell: Multimedia presentations + live broadcasting of said multimedia. by one or two computers combined. Right now, broadcasting with a Dell, presentations by either an HP laptop or a MacBook Pro. And we are constantly trying out new services and software, so it's normal. But lately, the Windows based laptops have been running without a problem for the past few months. But PCs are horrible to work with when doing sound on a proffessional mixer.

_____Bottom line, both are or can be good systems. Knowledge is power (not being funny here), and people should just stop trying to put other's down. We are well aware of the technology, if we want it, we'll get it.

i'm on a Hackintosh m*&^%rf*&^ker.

@33

You missed the point completely. Did you even read the statement in which I was replying too?

Also, I think it's fun when people make this stuff. Just because you own a mac, doesn't necessary mean you're made of money. I own two of them, and still struggle with bills.

The point is, when someone does get a mac, they are excited about it. It's a great computer, and part of the reason why people make these videos is because since the beginning of time Macintosh has gotten shit from PC users. When realistically, they don't know the whole story about mac. They own a PC, and are comfortable with it... and don't ever feel the need to upgrade. Yet talk shit about Macintosh when they release something thats new, or shows some sense of intelligence.

A huge part of the reason a lot of these mac fan boys make the videos is because they all know how much you hate it. Whether that video drew more positive or negative attention... who knows. However, it still got your attention. And it's still adding to the war between Mac and PC.

and @34 - Way to think for yourself.

I believe I have found my new theme. IM ON A MAC MUTHAFUKKA TAKE A LOOK AT ME! :'D

I work in 2 multimedia studios, one with a g5 towers, one with HP media PCs. So I have had to use both.

MAC are awful for music. you cant load 2 programs without it dying, or 2 different kinds of audio without the audio file playing at half or double speed. They are way too expensive for what they are, and dont beleive they are higher quality, they use PC parts, made by intel, nvidia etc. Its the damned same. The video editing software for MAC is awful too, if you want to seriously do video editing software you need Avid, final cut is made for morons, and cant output in true HD. only 1080i, so there is no way you can do a film on it, only youtube videos. The biggest problem I have with them, apart from being overpriced and underpowered, is that you cant upgrade ANYTHING, other than the ram and the hard drive. which is nice. But I upgrade graphics cards and sound cards constandly, so they go out of date so quickly and then they want another 6000 dollars, for something which is a PC in a white shiny case, running an outdated linux.

People base their ideas on the cheapest computers, you cant go to walmart and get a 200 mac, but you can get a 200 dollar computer, and anything cheap is usually bad, compare a 1000 dollar computer to a 1000 dollar mac and you can see how bad they really are. They have made people leave work because they cant take using them.

@39

You have obviously only worked in Final Cut 4. And if you have worked in any later versions and still haven't figured out how to get true HD, maybe you should consider a different career path.

Also, just because it has an apple on the side of it, doesn't mean it's made of gold. Apple makes amazing computers, but there are also lower end computers with minimum specs to accommodate the majority of mac users who aren't editing film.

Final Cut is used all the time in the film Industry. I know you would love to believe that everything is done on Avid... But in recent years, Final cut has really been picking up the pieces, and been used in some really successful films. Just to Name a few :

No Country For Old Men
300
Where the Wild Things Are.
The Ring, 1 and 2... (Cheesy I know, but had some excellent color grading)
500 Days of Summer
Even Happy Feet for christs sake.

Compu nerd fight!!!! FIGHT!, FIGHT!, FIGHT!, FIGHT! (chanted whilst flicking light switch on and off)

When I go to a LAN party... QuakeCon for example, all I see are super powered PCs... just saying...

I dont see a reason in owning a mac unless you do a lot of video or music editing... and when I say a lot. I mean A TON. Ive never had problems editting on a PC.

I dont know... dont really care. That chick in the vid is hot. Thats my input.

You are confusing editing with effects and treatment. The effects for most of those films were done on nuke and fusion, which are really PC/Linux only, infact most films effects are done on linux, I think it is 97%, The editing in just the process of putting one clip before the other, which is about all a computer you cant upgrade at all can handle when you are using 4k footage. Especially when most of them dont have HDMI, decent graphics, non hot swappable hard drives, tiny hard drives, graphics cards with component outs (which you need, especially with their 6k bad color screens to conect to veiwing monitors), sata ports, upgradableness and the fact that their screens give people headaches. The fact that peoeple even think that films can be done properly with something that is twice the price of what really is used is a joke.
The reason they even say that is because they are paid to, apple go around paying studios to use their stuff and give them huge lies with huge discounts, and foolish people believe them. I have heard their sales representatives telling me that you can only make music using macs because they are the only ones with music equipment. It really isnt true. Infact its kind of the other way round.

I have had to use 5, its just a poor persons avid, and yes, the film industry do all use it. Final cut is for independant films, and films were the effects have either already been done or are very basic. It cant handle 4k, and its HD is 1080i not 1080p. The low end macs are around 1000$ anyway, and suck worse than a 200$ calculator that they really are. I dont know anyone with a macbook that hasnt had it break at some point within the first year because of their godawful harddrives.

It is like so many other things, you buy something expensive, so you convince yourself to its superiority, otherwise you look stupid that you bought an overpriced peice of junk.

Here's a new video by the same guys!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlUGAhKHoyM&feature=player_embedded

Everyone loves a good Mac vs PC debate, especially when it's set to the tune of Eminem's "Not Afraid" and Steve Jobs and Steve Ballmer go head-to-head. :) It's so wrong, it's right...the geeks will love this!
