Jun 27 2009First Image Of A New Memory Being Formed

memories.jpg

Allegedly, this is the first image captured of a new memory being formed on the cellular level. If your brain were dinner, new memories would be the glowing noodle appetizer.

The image shows that proteins are created at connections between brain cells when a long-term memory is formed. Neuroscientists had suspected as much, but hadn't been able to see it happening until now.

Scientists still want to understand more about how our brains translate memories made on the go into long-term storage. Since synapses are connections between cells, experts think that fortifying these connections, or perhaps even making new ones, helps our minds associate different ideas and form memories of connected events.

Speaking of memories, you remember the time we snuck off and made out in that house that was being built? Yeah, that was really, um -- that wasn't you, was it? Oh synapse!

That's pretty cool!

i just got cable this week, and therefore watch random shit i would never seek out and watch, and that will most likely serve as the final stage in my brain's personal journey to becoming mush. it's also the reason why, unfortunately, i got that movie reference.....unless of course GW read the BOOK, in which case science might as well go ahead and bring on the robot apocalypse. go ahead, we'll fight back, but it's time you killed us all.

Hopefully this will assist in breathroughs with Alzheimers.

what was i gonna type again ? O.o

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max went to France with his family. His dad told him the left bank was beautiful, and askd Max if he knew what was on the other side. Max said Bank of America? Later Max went out to a night club with a hooker and got caught by his dad. Max said Baja's dad always lets him go drinking with whores.

I was watching "Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind" last night too and now I'm thinking that could really happen. I always watch repeats of it for Kirsten in her panties.

"Yeah, that was really, um -- that wasn't you, was it? Oh synapse!" lol, hilarious!

soooooo basically one day we can start creating memories.......this is just a footstep in the sands of time, but seriously, now that we can see, we can also replicate.........invest in it now

COOL!

They should do this test while someones on drugs. like lsd or dmt. and see what go's on in the brain that would be more Phucking interesting then f**king memory's!

and what's with the guy who comments every picture as fake?

i think he needs to bake a cake!

so i can call it fake!

also why does our mind play astroids sideways with so many players in yellow ships for long term memory to exist?

That is really cool! but like they said "or perhaps even making new ones, helps our minds associate different ideas and form memories of connected events." sooo wouldnt that mean that they could make fake memorys? :P
