Feb 11 2009Teens Spend Average Of 7.25 Hours Per Month Looking At Adult Content Online

I thought it would be more. Waaaay more.

That equates to 87 hours a year spent surfing for porn. A further hour and 35 minutes is spent looking at dieting and weight loss websites.

The poll revealed teenagers spend at least three hours and 10 minutes a week researching topics for their homework, and another one hour and 40 minutes downloading or listening to music. A further two hours and two minutes is spent looking at clips on YouTube, whilst an hour and 22 minutes is spent scouring NHS direct or other health websites for information about illnesses, puberty and growing pains.

Chat rooms, forums, MSN, and social networking sites such as Facebook also play an important role in the average life of a teenager, who can spend up to nine hours a week chatting to friends and new acquaintances.

Nine hours a week on Facebook? Jesus, what a bunch of rank amateurs. Try nine hours a day. Haha, I just Superpoked you, now Superpoke me back.

Hit the link for a much more in-depth breakdown of how teens piss away their lives online.

@2 as I said.. I'm on fire today...

I have to agree with the GW on this one; I was expecting 7.25 hours per WEEK.

@9 I agree

..as I'm sure this is no surprise to anyone.

Slackers!

I spent a good 7.5 hours A DAY looking for 'adult content'. That was my search, too. 'Adult content'. Feels good, man.

and only 15 minutes is wasted everytime you fire up your outdated desktop or laptop computer.

I have no issue communicating without the use of profanity. Quite frankly, the english language offers much more colorful adjectives. The point being made is simply that in this country, where this blog is hosted, we have freedom of speech. The same freedom of speech that would protect this blogger (GW) in court. I find it rather disingenuous of him to post NSFW content and genitalia jokes, then censor our comments about them.

OMG RLY? You mean teens started relying on the internet for information about sex/health/etc. instead of their friends? No way...

Is there something that can be done to get our average up, seriously, if our teens can't lead the world in porn hours watched per month then how can we, as a nation, hand the reigns over to the next generation?

lmao @15

Geekologie.com should be rated an an Adult Site

masturbating is not a crime

Add up all the hours in that statistic and teens are online 45.857 hrs a day!!

#15.: Huh-huh... he said Hand... cool!... Bioioioioiing!!!!

oooh.....I spend about 5 Hours on WoW and 1 1/2 on porn everyday

More like 7.25 days per month for me, if you include looking at pics of Scarlett on superficial. Motorboat!

well I guess teenagers have finally lost their sex drives! 87 hours a year = NOTHING! I wonder if STDS will go up or down as a result, I will hold on tight to my condylox gel just in case.

you beat me to it.

That number seems low until you remember how long you actually look at porn. Five, maybe ten minutes a session tops? Maybe it's just me...

Bullshit.

"The research was conducted by CyberSentinel.co.uk, a computer software that enables parents to block websites and monitor use of the internet."

Well duh, if you have parents that would actually buy software that blocks porn, you wouldn't be going to those sites anyway...knowing you can't see them.

I fcuking hate junk science.

i would vote more like 7.25 hrs a day

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max was walking through a town and the sheriff picked him up and drove him to the city limits, and suggested a diner 30 miles away from town. Max turned around and walked back into town, and the cop picked him up and arrested him for vagrancy, resisting arrest and carrying a concealed weapon.

I agree with Daisy on this one. FAKE!!!! I have a son who's a teenager, and he never visits any sites with adult content on them. Nope! He just looks at some japanese cartoon series... Hentai, or something, I don't know. But he does spend allot of time in the bathroom...

FAKE!!!!

This is a complete phosphorus job. You can tell its a drake because the shadow's are all dong.

This is a jigglypuff style hypnosis illusion of a scene from the movie Tender Dracula where Dracula's resurrected man servant looked at an average of 0 hours of pornography per day due to having lost his manhood in a wood cutting accident some years before/after his death.

This is stupid. The internet monitoring software supposed to block adult sites, very few parents wouldn't enable this just to spy on their kids. So if I couldn't go to playboy.com or whatever porn site why would I keep trying? Anyways if I got in trouble once even a dumb kid would figure your parents doesn't have ESP.

Lol way inacurate (the actual time spent looking for porn is bout 12)

porn is the best sex education and we should be encouraging young women to watch it MORE. how else will they learn how to give a proper blowjob?

I think the girl in the photo is looking at my unit right now. I can sense it. really I can.

SUPERPOKE! if im not on WOW at my dads house (on and off for like 4 hours) im looking at geekologie or listening to Katy Perry XD.GEEKOLOGIE RULES!

Last! Oh, and I easily watch 10 hours of porn every 2 weeks. 14 b1tches!

As for me, I use both a monitoring program Ez Parental Control (used mostly by families who want accountability for their internet viewing) and a filtering program – Ez Internet Timer (used mostly by families who want to put a time limit/block on Internet usage) from IT Works Corporation. They are very simple with options that allow a parent to select how much control they want over their child's computer (http://www.internettimer.net)
