Jan 6 2009Um, Hooray?: MacWorld Keynote Highlights

Good afternoon my delicate flowers. The MacWorld keynote ended not too long ago and I am here to report the highlights of said keyish note. Unfortunately, most of the news was boring and made me flaccid.

iLife '09: iPhoto, face recognition for pictures, GPS geotagging, *yawn*, sorting options. New version of iMovie, new editing options, advanced drag-and-drop, free porn, themes. Garageband '09: new interface, learn how to play an instrument lessons ($5 a pop!)

iWork '09: who cares.

17" MacBook Pro: thinnest, lightest 17-inch laptop, 920 x 1200 display, 700:1 contrast ratio, 60% greater color gamut, alleged 8-hour battery. "It comes in one config -- $2799." 2.66GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB hard drive."

iTunes: 10 million songs by end of the quarter, ALL DRM (digital rights management) FREE, finally. Also, $0.69 and $1.29 tiers for song purchases in addition to the regular $0.99 one. 3G downloading too! Whee!

Well folks, there you have it. I want my Pulitzer melted and sent to Cash-For-Gold. The Greenbacks, bitches, I want them!

All hail Apple!

Eh, not fully impressed...

Vista can pluck my hairy ass, then drop an ass-load on marketing to make you think you want to buy it.

I can see it now...

"My ass hairs bring all the boys to the yard..."

DRM = digital rights management, the restrictions nobody really want. I thought there'd be more fireworks with apple today too, but I do agree Vista blows

I'm not sure what Vista has to do with it, but the OS is fine. It's been fine for a while. Get over it already.

I'm glad about DRM being removed, finally. Took them a while to match practically every other store of note on that.

@5 - Thanks, the world makes more sense now.

iLife '09 provides Free Porn? How?!

Booooooring is right. Will it heal the sick? Feed the poor? Feed the dog? What good is this new and improved system? Not a thing.

Mac does suck. "I" this and "I" that. f*** the letter i . F*** justin long and his gay ass. Oh wait, he'd like that.

Vista is great. Currently playing fallout3 and it looks awesome.

will the music be DRM free retroactively?

This is a complete photoshop job. You can tell its fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like that scene from the movie Tender Dracula where the red headed french actresses becomes the coach of a poorly scoring baseball team. Using her unique methods of training, and a lot of spirit, she turns the team around and by the end of the season they win.
Dracula is furious, as he had placed a bet on the team coached by Mad Joe.

LOL. I just built a Mac pro. My choices of video card were hilarious

* ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB [Subtract $150.00]
* 2 x ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB [Subtract $20.00]
* 3 x ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB [Add $110.00]
* 4 x ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB [Add $240.00]
* NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
* NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB [Add $2,700.00]

$2799 for a 17" screen Macbook that won't even play 720p video natively. FAIL

macworld? i was hoping to see some kind of new burger coming out. man was i wrong on that!
spam artist you are pretty lame, there can only be room for one. and thats daisy. my lovely little flower.

This is a complete photoshop job. you can tell its a fake because the shadow's are all wrong.

This is exactly like the scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max and Baja start a website to sell music and other digital content. They get buttloads of investors using the sales pitch - DRM FREE, its for me.

Later when the website is launched the investors are furious to find that there are all types of DRM content, in fact its more restrictive than the original publishers.

Max explains to them, Having no DRM is idiotic. How can you sell the same stuff over and over to lazy people who get new computers. When I said DRM free I meant that we won't charge extra for it. He then took all the angry investors to Del Tacos for some bacon cheese roll, and everyone was happy.

haha, this one was one of the funnier ones lately.

one to many "ones".....

and that I why I also love Daisy

It's funny that the only people who complain about Vista are the ones who have never used it, or only used it when it was brand new. I've had it for almost a year now and have not had a single problem with it.

People complain about Microsoft's advertising, but why does nobody see a problem with all of the blatant brainwashing brought on by Apple's Mac vs. PC commercials. The most hypocritical commercial I've ever seen is when Apple berates Microsoft for spending money on advertising *in an advertisement*!

/end rant

it's about time they got on the DRM free bandwagon, when security interferes with the experience of the paying customer, it's gone too far, and I'm glad the industry has finally recognized that. Now video games need to follow suit!

No new mac mini?

I would agree. I've been more than happy with Vista for as long as I've used it. I'm most happy about 3G downloads for music. That's pretty cool.

I agree with 19 and 21, and the betas suggest Windows 7 will be better.

the bullshit about this is that if you want to get the stuff that you've already bought from the itunes store w/o DRM, you have to pay 30 cents per song (though you do get a 256 bitrate version rather than the previous 128). that's f***ing annoying. also, why do people care so much about defending their chosen os? it's ok to having a preference, but arguing about it on the internet is gay.

who the f*** would pay to download music or movies when u can get it for free with limewire or torrents

Oh man those crazy cakes make me have the funnies.

The problem is that the average Mac users are so damn smug. They have this air of superiority that is downright annoying. This is perpetuated by those commercials. I could see if they actually had a reason to be that way, but they don't. If you're just going to check your email, and update your face book status, by all means get a mac and pay $2799. On second thought, Why not just do that from your iphone? douche.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. My local istore smells like ganja, week old body odor, and patchoulli. It's rank.

@ bryce:

People pay to download music so that the record labels and bands don't go out of business, which would make it a little harder for you to steal the stuff they produce.

I just get CDs at the library and rip them. They buy most music that people request. Tax dollars hard at work.

i too wish there had been more to announce than gay geo tagging n shit.

the faces function in the new iphoto was kinda cool i guess.

and where did all this vista ranting come from?

im a geek squad agent and i see more problems with computer hardware on the PC side of things instead of software. that is ofcourse nixing out all the dumb motherf***ers that come in with viruses on their computers.

ive seen the windows 7 beta. it is really f***ing fast. i hope microsoft doesnt muck it up.
