Sep 4 2008Check Live Traffic Cams With iPhone App

Hate driving in traffic? Get a job where you don't have to commute. But for the rest of us, the ones that live 8 miles from work and spend 50 minutes getting there, there's the, uh, Metro. No wait, there's an iPhone application. Yeah, it's called Mobileyes and it can access live traffic feeds so you can see a bunch of cars sitting bumped to bumper. Now That's What I Call Hits Volume 14!

Current cities where this is available are: Detroit, Hartford, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Knoxville, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. while other cities will eventually be added. Depending on the speed of your connection the app can show low, medium or high resolution images.

Let me tell you, there's nothing safer than browsing pictures of traffic while you're driving, it just makes good sense. And you know what else does? Flying to work instead of driving. Seriously cheapass, just buy a freaking cape already.

Mobileyes iPhone App Can (Potentially) Help You Avoid Traffic

I heard that it crashes all the time. Get it? Crashes. Like cars. Like how traffic happens. Aww to hell with it FIIIIIIIIIIRST!

If you have to try to explain the joke, it's really not that funny.....

yeah, great app. now you can watch yourself putter by on your iphone.

I like boobs.

soon there'll be a tv show "Smile, you're on iPhonamera!"

Provided I could even afford an iPhone, I would definitely find myself on one of those cameras while the traffic was stopped and then dance around and watch myself on my iPhone. Then, I would get back in my car and cry because I'm lonely.

Why can't I find it?

Funny how any apps on the iPhone are "news" vs. apps on every phone which aren't.

This supports most smartphones...it's not an iPhone specific thing. I've had it on my Treo for awhile...

"...Traffic Cam works on data-enabled phones on the Sprint, AT&T Wireless, Verizon and T-Mobile networks, as well as on iPhone, BlackBerry, Palm Treo and Windows Mobile smart phones."

@Jake

That's because the iPhone is awesome, and your Treo is a pile of dog shit.

XOXO,

Icon, iPhone owner.

Hey! That's a picture of the traffic in Honolulu, Hawaii... yet Honolulu isn't listed as one of the current cities!

I call FOUL!

i was going to write what da kine did.

how does such a small island have so many damn cars.

so then what? you see the traffic and... then you dont go to work? I live in Pittsburgh, Pa and traffic here sucks. but (and this may be a phenomenom) the traffic is the same everywhere at the same time... so looking at a picture of the traffic I'm about to reach does nothing. they should create an app that eliminates traffic. i would by that phone. for now i'll stick to my bag-car-phone from the 80's.

The new iphone app I'm creating allows you to see into anyone's shower within a 50 mile radius.

I'm naming it "iPerv"

woot woot im in that traffic every day ust for your info thats in hawaii

Whoa....why post a traffic cam in Orlando, if it is not available there?

Fake!

Its a total photoshop job. The shadows are all wrong!

App is OK, except the map data is outdated and incomplete. One feature it is lacking is to be able to input the Lat. and Long. even the most basic GPS's have the ability to do this.

The app called "RoadCam" in the app store is way better than this.

The screenshot shows a picture of Hawaii, but this app doesn't have cams from Hawaii. If you want cams from Hawaii, search for "hawaii traffic cams". Android only.
