Aug 13 2008Is This A Chupacabra? (Hint: Probably Not)

chupacabra.jpg

A Texas cop was on a routine fence inspection drive (WTF?) when he found a strange creature running in the road. He claimed it was hairless, had long back legs, short front legs, and a massive snout. So he started filming it with the car's camera. Hit the jump to see the video and hear an interview with the cop. So, what do you think, is it a chupacabra? No, it's not. How do I know? Simple. 1. The chupacabra is a creature of the night, they don't wake up from their daytime siesta until after nightfall. 2. It's nothing like what I imagined it should look like. Chupacabras should be half human, half lizard -- that would be freaking sweet. This thing is the bastard child of a coyote that stuck it to your neighbor's dog. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly 3. Is it sucking a goat's teet? I see no goat, I see no teet, I can't see my dick past my beer bellly anymore, and I see no chupacabra. *slams case closed for emphasis* Suck it, Matlock!

Hit it for the video.

FRIST!

Soysauceface?

Really? It just looks like a running dog to me :S

It's the Mantauk Monster!!!!

Wow, That's some real "Crime-Fighting" there isn't it officer "Feedmedonuts"?
Chasing some scared hairless animal with your dash cam while my mom gets mugged at the liquor store buying herself her daily bottle of Gin!
Whats the world coming to!?!

Routine fence inspection? How many immigrants did he catch?

I bet that thing's last name is Rodriguez

I'm reserving judgment until I see Brian Chan's folded paper rendition, or until it's image appears in my toast - both true signs of authenticity.

Come on. That's obviously a coyote.

http://www.hufos.net/images/Texas_Chupacabra.jpg

it can be...

but the chupacabras is no news anymore! everyone decided that it was the mexican government who tried to distract the people with chupacabras stories so the newspapers won't show the economic crisis on the front page. The crisis passed, and the chupacabras story passed on too... now, case closed!

p.s. now they are trying to distract us with bears attacking chickens, and with niurka, so we won't notice narcs and kidnappers...

These creatures have been sited in the same area this video was taken. I don't think it's the Chuppacabra, mostly because it's so different from what people have described in the past. If the Chuppacabra exists, this probably isn't it. It may be something totally different.

Do you know how I know this is fake?

If this took place in Texas there would have been far mor shooting at the creature and far less driving behind it. That thing would be riddled with bullet holes right this instant.

De-lurking to say Happy belated Birthday!

@ Que, us Texans find that offensive... albeit extremely likely to be true lol. Clever ploy to get across the border though. Distract the border patrol with a "chupacabra", and sneak your entire family across in one trip! YAY distractions lol :D

#4, agree. this is, in fact, the montauk monster. that damn illegal immigrant.

And cryptozoologists squeal in delight hoping that this is real...

Onto other things; it has rained for the past two days now. It's getting rather tiresome and tedious.
Just thought I'd share that.

Happy Hump Day everyone.

I always kind of thought the chupacabra would be reptilian. I agree, this looks very much like a coyote, the snouts a little strange, but not enough to warrant belief in an unknown species. And yes, in Mexico the chupacabra belief has pretty much wavered when it was discovered that a coyote was responsible for several of the 'chupacabra' attacks. But hey, it puts your average small town on the map.

We need to direct our attention to more important undiscovered creatures, like the deadly Mexican staring frog or those things in the sky that don't seem appear unless photographed with shoddy equipment.

Chupacabra burger?

YEEEHAAWWW!

According to the original sighting the chupacabra was supposed to be a small thing with red eyes and spikes on its back, something like this . . .

http://upsidedownhippo.com/archives/chupacabra-november1.jpg

how did it end up looking like a coyote? Pssh and the real chupacabra wouldn't be taking shit from two hicks in a police cruiser. I still think E.T. should be remade to feature the Chupacabra in the place of that pussy strechy necked thing. Movie would have ended when the little sucker found that the kids resembled goats.

Clearly a canine.

reporters name is machintosh!

It's probably a shape shifting immigrant.

I think it looks like a mini horse. Other then that , I think it's made up.

Quick! The Mantauk Monster is getting more attention, shave a dog or a coyote and set it out by the fences!

This is almost as bad as the toast battles. Once one thing gets out, it spread everywhere in different forms because people are idiots.

I'll bet you they make the claim that its just some dog with a rare form of mange or something, its always mange

I think it was a dog born with shorter front legs honestly

There's nothing to fear but fear itself...and the CHUPACABRAS! madre de dios! he will kill us all !!!

it looks like someone put a mask on a dog, or trained a dog to do soemthing with a mask, or something like that. we need a veterinarian on the scene to tell us what it *could* be in the real world. this speculation shit is so unscientific, and therefore un geek-like.

i think it's a dog with a mask on.

or a pig in a dog costume? unlikely.

.

that's a f***in deformed dog..

OR MAYBE. It's a Texas kangaroo.

@25 I had a dog with Red Mange when i was kid. Mange isn't that rare actually, just uncommon because it's treatable.
conveniently, if you wiki mange there's a picture of a coyote pup with mange right there.
It's a dog or a coyote carrying something. Maybe has mange.
I remain adamant to my belief that chupacabra are a lot less "just ugly" and a lot more... "OMGIJUSTSHITMYPANTS" looking like what 19 put up there.

Wow, big week...First the Chupacabra and then I heard that Big Foot might have been found. What's next, the Yeti?

OCKHAM'S RAZOR:

It's the Montauk's Monster's mexican uncle, trying to make a better living for him and his family.

"Never seen anything like it"
You've seen a f***ing dog before? Even if it's not one, it's so LIKE one it might as well be.

This is just plain stupid!

#28 - I'm not a vet but spent MANY years as a vet tech. IMO opinion, it's the same damn thing the lady insisted was a chupak....chalupa....you know what I mean. It's coyote or possibly some mixed breed dog, with a pretty severe case of mange. Mange that severe could possible indicate some type of Pit Bull mix since they seem to be more susceptible to mange (demodectic). The head shape could indicate some sort of Bull Terrier mix, who are also susceptible to mange.

Mange isn't at all uncommon, even mange that severe. Check out a few Pit Bull rescue sites and you're sure to find at least one very sad story about a young dog who is almost completely bald due to untreated mange.

The screen shot at the top is a little misleading because the actual video looks nothing like that. The top screen shot look like a cross between a warthog and an aardvark, which I think is pretty unlikely. Warthogs don't even find aardvarks that attractive so I doubt they did sexy times and had babies AND lived in Texas.

@32. Don't speak so soon!

And don't forget Nessie.

That thing looks like a baby donkey or a mule. not a dog. not a goat sucker, a mule. Half horse, half donkey.

to anyone who might also be a viewer of TAEASGJ!:

does this not look like a rascal to you?
(only looked at thumbnail)

@ 39, rascals have possum tails. DUH!
I am really sick of retards claiming ugly coyotes are the chupacabra. THEY'RE JUST UGLY COYOTES! You don't have to make them feel worse about how they look. They know they're ugly. You don't have to tell them they look like the chupacabra. That's how coyote eating disorders start.

Seeing the countrified cops not doing their jobs makes me sad that I'm a Texan... other than that I think it's just a REALLY butt ugly dog/coyote...

That's a peccary.

Thats bogus. If I was the cop and I thought I was seeing some crazy magic beast I'd take my video tape evidence then I'd run the f***er over. Then just take a damn look and see if its so mystical. If it's just a dog.. bury the evidence and break the video. PROBLEM SOLVED.

And that looks like some sort of deer or something. That ain't no goat sucker.

that's a freakin dog!

It looks like a donkey.

"I've never seen anything like this."

I have. It's a donkey.

Looks like my ex-wife... What a munter!

Actually, it looks exactly like a badger. A big freakin' badger.

Hey # 47, have you ever seen a Badger? That looks nothing like a Badger.

Holy F*** has anyone ever seen a f***ing dog running?

FIRST!
Finally!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that's Raptor Jesus.

you know agents Moulder and Skully tackled this story a few years ago.. i mean if it peaked their interest then it has to have some truth to it right? when is Fox Moulder ever wrong?

Just looks like some kind of dog.

Fence inspection? Did he ever stop to think that maybe it was a Mexican dressed up in some sort of disguise?

How is this different from some sort of unusual dog or coyote? Maybe its muzzle was larger, and its legs somewhat smaller, but... I don't see this thing sucking the blood out of goats or mutilating cattle.

I'd go for some sort of deformed but well-known animal over anything completely unknown. God knows we're poisoning our environment with enough teratogenic chemicals we could see a whole lot more of these anomalies.

Bullshit gringos

WARTHOG

The Puerto Rican chupacabras have wings!

For all those saying its just a coyote or dog,,,, ever think it may be a Hybrid of a Coyote cross dog(although coyotes are known to kill stray/feral dogs or even pet dogs)...could be a coyote colony thats been imbreeding for some years, because there so far out and dont interact with other coyotes?.....or an Even smarter thought is, They find a new creature every year(land and sea) its not IMMPOSSIBLE that this "Creature of the night" has never been seen before, as Out Texas/Mexico it gets really hot, and the best way to conserve much needed energy levels/hydration is to hunt at night, who knows this 1 could of been in search for a drink,,, and yes the found Head of the Chupacabra that was supposably proven to be a type of coyote...take a good think Canidae(like all dogs/all wild dogs) only slightyly differ(African Wild dogs and D-Holes both have the exact same D.N.A code but ones from africa the other is from India and theres coats, colors and look are completely different)....so its not entirely immpossible(ONLY if ur a 1 sided mind, and in that case u have no buissness in journalism, all great Journalist are always open minded)

but by reading your stuff i can safely say you will never be a journalist.

out of all the mythical, blood sucking creatures out there, the Chupacabra is almost certainly the sneakiest

wow, ...a dog with mange. the found one similar on monster quest.
