Nov 26 2007Life-Size LEGO Figure Is Cool, Cardboard

lifesize-lego.jpg

A man has made a life-size LEGO figure entirely out of cardboard and hot glue, complete with removable and rotating body parts.

All flat and rounded surface planes of the original LEGO man were measured to the 32nd of an inch and mathematically converted to recreate the LEGO man at 60" (5ft) tall. The proportions of the 60" final piece are accurate to the 16th of an inch, with cardboard thickness taken into consideration. All surface scores performed with X-acto at 1/2" intervals for rounded applications.

The whole project took about 50 hours from start to finish. I wonder if he's going to paint it, or if that would detract from the whole "it's made of cardboard" appeal. Painted or not, I do know one thing -- this would make the world's awesomest piƱata. Fill that sucker up with airplane bottles and have at it. Ever seen a life-size LEGO figure bleed little liquor bottles? Me neither, but I just made it my life's goal.

thats cool... i love lego!

it would be cooler if he didn't geek out and have to make it soo damn accurate.

So thats what Paul Mccartney is up to now Heather has hobbled to Hades.

WOW.

Why not use real...Lego...

After all the times I've seen people making stuff out of Legos, it's nice, for a change, to see somebody making Legos out of stuff.

It doesn't work without lego blocks you D!#% head... now go build me some cardboard lego blocks to stick this dude to... sheeess!!!

Creative...neat. Paint would be nice though, maybe a wig or what not...or better yet, removable pieces that are painted so that he could change its clothes/face/etc.

At first I thought he was Amish because of his hat or something, but I guess he is just a douche.

i didn't know vince vaughn was so creative.

I'm with Leif on this one. People have been making giant LEGO men out of actual LEGO for years now. And this one isn't even that accurate. His head's too small. Unless he now makes a giant LEGO spaceship to go with it, I'm unimpressed. If I'm right though, he'll probably just paint it like the Star Wars Slave Leia minifig and keep it in his bed.

lol that guy was in my class here at the art institute.. there were giant functional cameras, trigger bottles, lipsticks... all made of cardboard yea it was cool. props.

I MADE ONE THAT'S 6FT TALL AND IT TOOK NO WHERE NEAR 50 HOURS IT ONLY TOOK ME A DAY AND I DIDN'T MEASURE ANYTHING AND IT LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME JUST A FOOT TALLER AND MINE IS PAINTED AND HAS A REMOVABLE HAT AND SOME OTHER STUFF

THIS ONE LOOKS GREAT TOO AND HIS HEAD ISN'T TOO SMALL ITS PERFECT SIZE LOOKS GOOD KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
