Jun 12 2007Warping Wallpaper

The guys over at Surrealien have developed a process of placing wallpaper so that it looks distorted by the objects it surrounds. Whereas wallpaper is usually placed haphazardly around objects, the warping wallpaper is placed consciously with the environment. Although if you actually put this stuff in your home I give you a week before you start losing your mind.

What happens if you want to move your pictures around?

I'd make a special patch of wallpaper just near to the front window that I could stand in front of. If unsolicited callers should come by (Jojoba Witnesses, Debt collectors, Family members) I'd start yelling, "AAAH, help me, the house is eating me!". He he, then I’d probably have to explain myself to a couple of angry Jojoba Witnesses – they don’t give up easily!

They give up if you answer the door naked and holding a beer. It really works.

Simply saying NO and slamming the door in their face works pretty well too. - My dad used to chase them off our private property.. that works well too.. especially with a shotgun.

This reminds me of I Love Lucy episode #43 ("Redecorating") where Lucy and Ethel try to put up wallpaper in Lucy's bedroom.

Might be kinda cool just for around doors and windows. But this would not be worth the high price you'd pay what with all the women telling the walls that they look great and asking if they have been working out.

This is easy to get done. A tape measure, raster image editor, basic vector program, print shop that can print on wallpaper (easier to find than you think) and some time simply warping an image and hoping that no one wants to move aunt millie off the wall.
Probably $5-10 a square foot digitally printed depending on the print shop.
Good idea for sure.
