Like the kind your grandpa listens to. Anybody with enough money to actually buy this thing might enjoy this game I invented. It's called "Give Me All Your Cash." Basically you give me all your cash, and then I throw a party. It's very fun.

May 31 2007 Photosynth

photosynth.jpg

From the Photosynth demo description:

Using photos of oft-snapped subjects (like Notre Dame) scraped from around the Web, Photosynth creates breathtaking multidimensional spaces with zoom and navigation features that outstrip all expectation. Curious about that speck in corner? Dive into a freefall and watch as the speck becomes a gargoyle. With an unpleasant grimace. And an ant-sized chip in its lower left molar.

Basically this thing takes images and creates composites depending on the content of the image. So if one person takes a picture of a car and another person takes a picture of the tire, Photosynth will combine the images so you can zoom in on the tire. Take this concept and repeat it 1000 fold, and you basically end up with a 3D space created entirely from photographs.

May 14 2007 Professional wrestling is super real

I bet all you people who thought professional wrestling was fake are feeling pretty stupid right about now.

May 14 2007 Cell phone bed

cell-phone-bed.jpg

If you're just completely insane, you might enjoy this cell phone bed which originally sells for $22. Because really, why simply charge your cell phone when you can tuck it in and sing it lullabies?

May 11 2007 Han Solo in carbonite chocolate bar

han-solo-chocolate.jpg

Instructables has a tutorial on how to make your own Han Solo in carbonite chocolate bar. Basically you make a mold out of a Star Wars toy and fill it with chocolate. Slightly better than my idea, which was to kidnap Harrison Ford and throw him in a vat of chocolate.

May 11 2007 Dog playing Wii

This has to be fake, right? There's a better chance I'll learn to fly by flapping my arms than this being real.

May 11 2007 Guy carrying a ton of eggs

carrying-eggs.jpg

I can do that too. I can also carry twelve kittens in my mouth. Yeah, I'm pretty special.

May 11 2007 Miniature Jenga set

mini-jenga.jpg

This is a miniature Jenga set that you can use as a keychain or attach to your belt. The entire thing is smaller than the palm of your hand so they even provide a poking stick to play. It's only $4, making it the perfect way to feel like a giant. Well that, or bathing in radiation and hoping it doesn't kill you.

May 11 2007 Hi-Res Transformers pictures

hi-res-transformers.jpg

They look pretty cool, but why do they all look like break dancing insects? Check out all of the hi-res pictures here.

May 10 2007 Chinese create e-cigarette

e-cigarette.jpg

Golden Dragon Group Ltd's Ruyan has created an electronic battery-powered cigarette. The e-cigarette activates light and vapour, and even delivers nicotine to the lungs within 7 to 10 seconds. The cigarettes sell for $208 and are already available overseas. They're directed primarily at people trying to quit smoking, deliving the same look and feel but without the health concerns. Although most people take up smoking to look cool, so using this would be counterproductive. I'm not sure daily wedgies is a fair tradeoff for lung cancer.

May 10 2007 Faux Repair Plate

faux-repair-plate.jpg

This porcelain plate has a gold crack designed right into it, recreating the look of a repaired plate. It's designed in the Japanese tradition of drawing attention to a flaw in the glaze by filling it with gold. Although for $550 you'd think the crack was filled with plutonium. Or cash.

May 10 2007 Family Guy vs Street Fighter

I can't believe somebody actually took the time to make this. Although they animated Peter Griffin well enough to make a Family Guy fighting game seem like it might actually work. You can skip to the end after the first fight and feel confident that you didn't miss anything important. Unless you consider repetitive animation and sound effects important. In which case, yeah, maybe watch the whole thing.

May 10 2007 Largest pearl in the world for auction

arco-pearl.jpg

This is the Arco Valley Pearl. It's a 575-carat pearl that's 3.1 inches long and 800 years old. It's going up for auction at Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace and on the Internet where it's estimated to get $8 million. It's pretty nice I guess, but it looks super deformed. I thought pearls were supposed to be round. You give this thing to your girlfriend and she's going to throw it back in your face and start crying because you didn't love her enough to buy her a normal looking pearl.

May 10 2007 Smoking fingers

I can't think of a single reason why you'd want to make your fingers look like they're smoking, but here's how to do it anyway.

May 9 2007 Apartment with half a car

apartment-half-car-01.jpg

I don't know the story behind this, but it looks so neat I think I'll try it with my Ferrari. Sure, that means I'll have to cut my Ferrari in half and glue it to the wall of my apartment, but you say that like it's a bad thing.

The rest of the images after the jump, and thanks to the intoxicatingly good looking Joe for the pictures.

May 9 2007 Zippered Wine Glasses

zipper-wine-glass.jpg

For $99.99 you can get a set of four of these zippered wine glass which features a hand-painted zipper up the side and an actual zipper-pull attached midway. And if this isn't the coolest wine glass you've ever seen, you're a damn liar. Unless you're talking about that wine glass I made out of braided unicorn hair. Yeah, I guess that one was pretty spectacular.

May 9 2007 The killer tortoise

This is video of a tortoise defending its territory against invading cats. Didn't you know? After sharks, tortoises are nature's number one killing machine.

May 8 2007 Blowing up 1 million tons of iron ore

Looks like we've got a competitor for Greatest Explosion Ever. I'm still placing it behind this one though, since there's no fire or shock wave. Or gigantic boner in my pants.

May 8 2007 Titanic lamp sinks into your table

titanic-lamp.jpg

titanic-lamp-2.jpg

Similar to the sinking LED clock, the Titanic lamp is designed to look like it's sinking into whatever surface you place it on. Sort of like my home. Only that wasn't a design choice, I just happen to live on a lake.

May 8 2007 Tornado video shot form 50 yards

TornadoVideos.net storm chasers Reed Timmer and Joel Taylor shot this INSANE video of a violent tornado from within 50 yards!!! We had to back up at the last second, and my cell phone fell out on the road and was taken away by the tornado!!

If they really wanted to impress me they would've climbed out of their car and got some footage from inside the tornado. I guess they just weren't man enough.

May 7 2007 EnergyPod makes napping futuristic

energy-pod.jpg

energy-pod-2.jpg

If you don't mind looking like a total idiot at work, the EnergyPod is a great little place to do your napping. There's a visor to keep out external sound and keep in internal ones, such as snoring or loud screaming or whatever other sounds you might make in your sleep. There's also an built-in sound system which plays music loaded on an internal memory card. It costs about $8,000, so you'll have to decide for yourself just how important having a chair shaped like a spaceship is to you. Personally, I'm okay napping on the floor. Or on the subway. Or on the floor of the subway. It's all good, baby.

May 4 2007 $1 million coin

1-million-coin.jpg

The crazies in Canada have created a $1 million coin. The coin weighs 220.5 pounds and is 21 inches in diameter. The hand crafted coins will be produced in extremely limited quantities, and at 99.999% purity, the gold in the coin is actually worth more than twice its $1 million face value. Which just sounds stupid. If you bought it and melted it down you'd already have doubled your investment. Or if you got me to sign it you'd have quadrupled it.

May 4 2007 Painting the Mona Lisa with MS Paint

This guy used MS Paint to recreate the Mona Lisa. It's compressed down to under 5 minutes but the original took 2 hours and 30 minutes. If you've ever used MS Paint you know how crazy this is. Especially if your computer is like mine, meaning a cardboard box with "computer" written on the side. My MS Paint doesn't do shit.

May 4 2007 Millimeters Matter viral ad

This is a new viral ad from Samsung showing insects getting hit in the face with pies and stuff. I can't tell if it's real but I'm really hoping it is. Only because insects getting hit in the face with pies is number two on my list of all time greatest things. I won't tell you what number one is, but let's just say it involves three dinosaurs and a space ship.

May 4 2007 Keyboard waffles look like delicious keyboards

May 3 2007 Mod a toaster for toaster art

toaster-art.jpg

Instructables has a little tutorial on how to make your own toaster art. Basically just cut out aluminum or stainless steel designs and attach it to your toaster. Ta daa! Or try my method: take a permanent marker and draw on your bread. It doesn't taste as good, but it, well, also doesn't look as good. So there.

May 3 2007 Tubular clock tells time with words

tubular-clock.jpg

This tubular clock uses words to describe time instead of numbers, similar to the Verbarius clock.

Time is displayed on the Tubular Time Clock in phrases such as "quarter past four" and "five minutes past six" instead of the pedestrian "4:15" and "6:05." The clock mounts to any wall, and runs on a single AA battery. It's quite large, measuring in at 33" wide and a 4.5" diameter, so you'll need some space to hang this sucker.

The thing costs $160, which is a bargain. You know, assuming you're a billionaire clock collector. And really, who isn't?

May 3 2007 Sea monster over 7 feet long

sea-monster.jpg

A local diver from Juno Beach captured video of this unidentified sea serpent that's over seven feet long. They're calling it a Nemertean Worm, although they can't officially identify it or even what family it belongs to. For now, the Smithsonian is calling it "undescribed." Although at seven feet long I think the top contender right now is my penis. *cue laugh track*

May 3 2007 Changing cupboard

changing-cupboard.jpg

This changing cupboard is built out of turning advertising signs so the surface design is constantly changing. It looks cool as hell, but having this thing in my house would freak me out. Almost as much as the komodo dragon I keep chained in my kitchen. Why do I even have that thing?!

Check out video of the changing cupboard in action after the jump.

May 3 2007 Virtual dog-walking arcade game

virtual-dog-walking.jpg

Apparently there's a virtual dog-walking arcade game in Japan where you, uh, walk on a treadmill and pretend to walk a dog. Sounds almost as awesome as my virtual getting-raped-by-a-giant-tentacle-monster arcade game. They're both huge hits in Japan, but only one involves getting virtually raped by a giant tentacle monster.

May 2 2007 The Pessimist's Mug

pessimist-mug.jpg

Looks like somebody took this idea, and decided to translate it to English and turn it into a mug. The Pessimist's Mug is exactly what it looks like. Uh, unless you thought it was a beaker. Because that's what I thought it was. A really crappy one with only one measurement: half.

wrireless-nes-remote.jpg

If you're pretty serious about your mods and still play your NES, this tutorial is for you. I won't get into the technical stuff, but after some heavy work you'll end up with your very own wireless NES controller. Or a bird house, depending on how good you are at following directions.

May 2 2007 Digital Lifestyle Device not a sex toy

digital-video-frame.jpg

Aluratek has created a 10.5" digital picture frame that also plays video. It has 256 MB of flash storage and displays pictures as well as plays MP3s. They're calling it a Digital Lifestyle Device, but I'm pretty sure it's really just a tiny TV. That doesn't play TV. So worse than a TV. And just for future reference, a Digital Lifestyle Device is what you'd call a condom with a computer chip, not a digital picture frame.

May 1 2007 Star Wars in real life
