Mar 24 2008 Human-like Homer Is Scarier Than I Thought

Remember the human Mario rendering from last week? Well here comes Homer.

This one was a bit more difficult in that i wanted the light to come in mainly from one side with a bit of back light. So all my reference had to be lit from one side. For textures i needed but didn't have this lighting situation, i had to darken or light a bit to give the same effect.

For clarification, these aren't studies of what Homer would look like if he was a real person, its just what a cartoon like Homer would look like if he kept his toon proportions but had realistic texturing and lighting. I find this slightly less disturbing than the Mario one. :) Some might feel he looks too old, keep in mind he was in his 30's 20 years ago when the show first started. ;)

Great job, he looks scary as shit. I do like how you used my penis model for the nose though. Nice touch.

Jul 17 2007 Home Simpson offends Pagans

The people at Fox painted a giant Homer Simpson next to the Cerne Abbas giant - a 180ft 17th century fertility symbol carved in the hillside above Cerne Abbas - to promote the new Simpsons movie. Apparently this pissed off the people at The Pagan Federation, and their district manager said:

“It’s very disrespectful and not at all aesthetically pleasing. We were hoping for some dry weather but I think I have changed my mind. We’ll be doing some rain magic to bring the rain and wash it away. I’m amazed they got permission to do something so ridiculous. It’s an area of scientific interest.”

You know what else is an area of scientific interest? My brain. But only because it's incredible something so big could actually fit in a human skull.

Jul 2 2007 7-Eleven converted to Kwik-E-Mart

Eleven 7-Eleven locations have been converted to Kwik-E-Marts to promote the new Simpsons movie, and this is the one in Burbank, California. Not only did they change the name, but they're also selling Kwik-E-Mart products like Squishees and Krusty-O's. They even have characters like Jasper as the 'Freezer Geezer' littered about the store. Although if you happen to wander in, I'm sure you'll find the ratio of 'nerds with cameras' is about 10 million times higher than an actual Kwik-E-Mart. And by nerds with cameras I mean me. With a camera. Lying under the Squishee machine passed out with my mouth open.
