Nov 4 2009 Tutorial: How To Make The Chewbacca Sound

This is a short video tutorial of some busty geek girl teaching you how to sound like Chewbacca. And I don't care how cute you think she is, watch her from 1:10 to 1:18 and then tell me that. Also, whether you follow the instructions or not, you're gonna end up looking retarded. Just a heads up.

Sep 18 2009 "Pew Pew, Bang Bang!" :Guy Replaces All Sounds In Half Life 2 With His Own Voice

This is a seven minute video of a guy screwing around in Half Life 2 after he replaces all the audio for the sound effects with his own voice versions. It's pretty awesome and I highly recommend checking it out, even if you just skip around for a few seconds. Which, haha, God you looked fruity.

Half-Life 2 Mod Is All "Pew Pew Pew" [kotaku]

Thanks to Aisha, who once pew pewed her way through Bioshock on hard. Nice, I had to play on medium and only with the lights on and never after 9pm.

Jun 5 2009 Finally, I Can Sleep At Night: Researchers Develop Algorithms To Mimic Water Sounds

The watery sounds you hear in this video were all made using algorithms developed by researchers at Cornell, because, honestly, curing diseases can wait.

Doug James and Changxi Zheng, researchers at Cornell University, have developed a way to simulate the sounds of flowing or dripping water, which in real life are produced by tiny air bubbles that compress and expand due to surface tension, creating sound waves in the water.

So by using the geometry of a 3D scene, the Harmonic Fluids algorithm they developed can calculate where the air bubbles would have been created in real life and how they would have moved, which allows realistic accompanying sounds to be generated.

Now don't get me wrong, that's neat as hell, I just wish they would have made their research a little more useful in the real world. Like, I dunno, developing an algorithm to mimic the mating calls of prehistoric dinosaurs. Am I right? If we're not gonna cure cancer I should at least get laid.

Nov 11 2008 Get That 'Peeling A Banana' Feeling Anytime!

banana-peeler.jpg

In the same vein as the bubble wrap popper and envelope ripper, comes the banana peeler, a device that gives its user the sensation of peeling a banana, complete with sound effects. The Dazzling Banana will cost six coconuts when it hits stores in Japan next March. Sadly it isn't edible (although I'll still sure as as hell try). While six pineapples isn't bad, but what's so fun about peeling bananas? I prefer my bananas pre-peeled. Now mush you stupid monkeys, MUSH!

UPDATE
: It was brought to my attention that calling monkeys stupid doesn't do justice to their keen intellect. So, my little banana peeling minions, I apologize. Now put the turds down, and nobody gets tazed.

Thanks to Richthegringo, who has a banana in his pocket. If that's a good thing -- if not, it's a wad of cash.

Oct 30 2008 Thriller: One Guy, 64 Different Voices

This is a video of a guy singing Michael Jackson's iconic Thriller acapella using 64 clips of himself making all the different noises. I was impressed, and you could clearly tell it was a labor of love. Probably illegal love.

Thanks to Ravage, who played Thriller on the kazoo for a middle school talent show.

Oct 16 2008 New And Improved (But Still Creepy As Hell): Face Bank Is 4X Larger Than Original, Noisier

Face Banks are creepy as hell and I can't imagine why anybody would want one. Yet, they sell. It truly is a f***ed up world we live in. Anyway, the Mega Face Bank is four times the size of the original, and now makes burping sounds when it's NOMing your coinage. They ship in November for about $53, and I may just have to stick my penis in one.

Sep 10 2008 Bronze Vader Statues (Are A Waste Of $)

vader-statue.jpg

First the Leia sex statue, then R2 and C-3PO replicas, and now, Vader. The 4-foot, 150lb bronzed bastard was cast by Lawrence Noble and is pat of a limited edition of 30 pieces. Each costs $18,000, which I wouldn't even pay for a peanut butter sculpture of Chewbacca bending Jar Jar over a landspeeder. I mean, it could at least be life-size. And chocolate. Oh shit, and he should have a really pimp belt buckle. Something like "Vader tip goes PEW PEW!"

NOTE: That was a whistle tip reference. If you haven't seen the video, you haven't been living the past two years, so I posted it after the break. Watch the whole thing.

Feb 6 2008 Oh Yeah!: Customize Your Own Lightsaber

custom-lightsaber.jpg

As this guy, or anybody over at the NY Jedi Academy will tell you, a true Jedi needs their own custom lightsaber. And swinging around a spraypainted fluorescent bulb just doesn't cut it (as much as I want it to). Enter the Force FX Lightsaber Construction Set. As you can see it comes with a variety of different parts so you can mix-and-match your own custom blade. You even get to choose the color of the light, thanks to the tri-color LEDs. It plays authentic sound effects from the movie and you can score one at Amazon for $100. But be careful, because the print there in the lower right corner specifically states "product specifications & colors subject to change". So if you open the box and find your lightsaber has been replaced with a karaoke machine, don't say I didn't warn you.
