Foosball: the sport of champions. And by champions I mean those who like to drink in dark, smoke-filled bars. Which I freaking rule at! *high-five* Whoa, watch the drink buddy. So yeah, a $1,200 foosball table with diamond plate accents. This thing is straight tacky as shit but might look okay in a garage. Provided it's in pieces. Under a big blue tarp. With bricks holding it down. Geekologie: helping not sell your company's products since 2006.

May 5 2008 Super Long Foosball Table Is Mad Super Long
This is allegedly the world's longest foosball table (but not the bathtubbiest). It was made by Amstel (purveyor of that fine Amsterdamian beer) to coincide with the European Champions League Finals. It takes 22 players (two soccer teams worth) to play a game. Being a lover of foos, I'd love to give it a go on that sucker. It'd certainly be the longest game of foos I'd ever play! Get it! There was a double meaning there. Long time-wise and long like someone should punch me in the nuts because I deserve it. Unfortunately I could never actually play on this table because I hate strangers and have no friends. Something about being "no fun to hang out with" and "a major fruit-flavored douchepop".

Apr 23 2008 Run For The Hills Or The TV?: Robot Soccer Players To Compete With Humans By 2050
The Robocup German Open is in full effect (April 21-25) and it's every bit as frightening as you'd expect. The only thing I found comfort in was that the robots are clearly too stupid to distinguish a soccer ball from an orange tennis ball. Those stupid bastards. We're still doomed though. According to Stefan Kohlbrecher, a member of the Technical University of Darmstadt's Darmstadt Dribblers, "The goal of the RoboCup is to compete against human world champions with robots by the year 2050." Uh oh. No word on whether the robots will be equipped with rockets and laser cannons, but as far as ratings go, I think it's a no-brainer.

Nov 12 2007 Solar Powered Arcade Game Wins Award
Soccermania is a solar powered arcade machine from Polish game manufacturer Kriss-Sports. It won some award for using green technology at an amusement machine expo held last month.
Soccermania features solar panels and a rechargeable battery, and does not require any other type of power source to function. The model shown at Surexpo had a hard solar panel; however Kriss-Sport stated that this may be changed to a solar panel made out of elastic foil. The batteries used in Soccermania are used to load the accumulator, which is able to power the machine for anywhere from 12 to 48 hours.
Yeah. It's a solar powered soccer game. So it, uh, needs sunlight to work. And where does sunlight come from? Outside. Where, get this -- you can play real soccer.

Oct 9 2007 Vertical Soccer Game 10 Stories Up
This video is of an Adidas billboard in Tokyo where two players are suspended by ropes and kick a tethered soccer ball around. They keep calling it a "real soccer match", but I think that's debatable, seeing how it's nothing like a real soccer match. It's from 2006, so you may have seen it already. Which makes you an awesome person. But not as awesome as me, because I've actually played something very similar to this. If urinating off the top of my apartment building onto pedestrians falls in the realm of "something very similar to this".
Note: It's worth noting that at the end of the video the news reporter announces the billboard's location as "Downtown Japan."

Aug 9 2007 FIFA '07 Computer Mod
This computer was made for an Electronic Arts FIFA '07 competition that took place in Germany, the winner taking home the rig. All I can see is that it's pretty freaking awesome. I mean it has a miniature foosball table on top - you can't beat that. I've got tons of respect for this guy, because I know how difficult good computer modding can be. My last project turned out less like a sweet computer case and more like a pile of particleboard and computer parts in the corner of my bedroom that the cats like to pee on.
