Mar 14 2009 MacBook Modded With Screen In Apple Logo

Some guy went and modded a MacBook with a fully functional LCD screen in place of the traditional glowing Apple logo on the back. It's set up as a second monitor too so he can precisely control whatever appears on the thing. But mostly he uses it to display his webcam or iTunes Visualizer. Impressive, guy, but not nearly as impressive as my Apple logo mod, which is -- wait for it, wait for it....a saltwater fish tank! Boom-shacka-lacka!

Oct 31 2008 You Have Got To Be Freaking Kidding Me: Luxury Screen Cleaning Fluid For TVs

screen-cleaner.jpg

The end is nigh: luxury screen cleaning fluids -- for the flatscreen television owner who has everything, except a freaking brain. They come in two varieties, EazyCare and OneClean, and cost $32 and $24, respectively. WTF!

AM's specially developed water-based screen cleaner formula contains no IPA or other alcohol. Our formula is effective, but also gentle. AM's screen cleaner fluid can be used on all types of screens or surfaces.

Really? Really? I know that shit's just water. Nice try guys, but I didn't just fall off the back of a truck. I did get hit by a chick on a moped though. Watch where you're going!

Thanks to Sugar Honey, who is allegedly made of sugar and spice and everything nice. And honey. Definitely some honey.

Sep 7 2007 Very Large LED Screen in Beijing

screen1.gif

A 250 meter x 30 meter LED screen was installed in Beijing as a centerpiece for The Place, which is a shopping mall located in the business district. The thing cost $32 million, is 80 feet above the ground, and actually 5 separate screens combined. It can play video games, live events, and visitors can even upload photos to view. However, it is primarily used as a virtual aquarium, with sharks and fish swimming by. Which, for $32 million, seems like a waste of money. I was just at the aquarium the other day, and they had tanks that seemed that big. And not only that, but if the attendant isn't paying attention and you have long enough arms -- free sushi.

A few more pictures and a video after the jump.

Aug 13 2007 USB Panic Button

usb-panic-button.jpg

The Panic Button is a USB gadget that fires up one of three "stress relieving" screensavers whenever you push it. While the screensavers are questionable (atomic bomb, punch your boss, and an excel spreadsheet look alike), I believe the idea itself has some merit. If you're anything like me you've learned that yelling "I wasn't looking at porno!" when anyone walks by your cubicle doesn't make the porno you're looking at disappear. Now, I'll just flip the top on this bad boy, yell "Fire in the hole!", mash the button, and dive under my desk until the coast is clear.
