Oct 20 2009 I Would Munch Those Dots: A Pac-Man Cake

This is a Pac-Man cake created by CupcakeJonas for an undisclosed Pac-Man fan. Some suspect it was Pac-Man himself but that's ridiculous because....actually, I bet it was him. Dude does have a big mouth and love sweets. That's why he doesn't have any teeth! Now I have no idea if that Pac-Man arcade cabinet is actually edible, but I would 100% take a bite out of it anyways. I don't care if it has razor blades in the middle, I am curious and not a cat!

Jul 27 2009 Fire Eater: 30th Anniversary Pac-Man Zippos

Let's face it, Pac-Man and fire go together like virtually anything else and fire: perfectly. And even if you gave up the rock years ago, there's still other stuff to light to light, am I right? Of course I am. Enter these 30th anniversary Pac-Man lighters. Available in three different styles, they'll be available this November for an undisclosed sum of amount. So start saving. In the meantime, start your fires the old fashioned way: by making napalm out of gasoline and Styrofoam AND LIGHTING IT WITH A BULLET. I was a Boyscout, I learned things.
Hit the jump for a close-up of the model that looks like the game screen.

Jul 14 2009 Oldschool: Movies As Retro Book Covers

In the same vein as the video games as old book covers comes this series of movies as old book covers by Flickr user spacesick. And let me tell you, it took everything I had not to put the Jurassic Park one on the front page. But, since it was a book already, I didn't include it. Of course, some of the others were probably books before movies as well and I'm such a stupid idiot that I included them and left out Jurassic Park. Forgive me, raptors, how can I ever make it up to you?! Maybe a little....no? Damnit, that plan sounded foolproof in my mind.
Hit the jump for some of my favorites, then the link for the whole massive Flickr gallery.
Jul 9 2009 Cute Stop Motion Donkey Kong Movie
This is a little stop motion Donkey Kong movie. It's cute. Not as cute as my socks though, but they have little ducks on them. Now rub my feet. Uh-oh -- QUACK ATTACK!
Thanks to Heather, who makes me work for my tips. On the corner. All hours of the night.
Jul 6 2009 Another Day, Another Retro iPhone Case

Last week it was an exceptionally made oldschool Playstation iPhone case, and this week, a Game Boy.
"You will love it, and your friends will be jealous because you are so much cooler." said German designer Toastkawaii wildly exaggerating in her product description.
$15 will take one home, and another $10 will take me. Now I don't know about you, but I'm digging this one more than the fancy Playstation. This one's got a nice kindergarten arts and crafts feel to it.
Hit the jump for another shot.
Jul 2 2009 You Gobble That Road: Pac-Man Mini Cooper

This is a Pac-Man themed Mini Cooper from The Cool Hunter. I can't tell if it's real but I'm leaning towards absolutely not. So, somebody Photoshopped a Mini Cooper -- how bout that? Hold on to your hats though, because there's a Space Invaders model after the jump. Now i know what you're thinking, and no, that wasn't me driving on the sidewalk last night (yes it was). I thought it was the bike lane!
Hit it real good.

Jun 1 2009 OM NOM NOM: Pac-Man Candy

Want to pound some turdy looking power pellets? Then buy this $12 set of Pac-man candy and rot your teeth out! Then go to the dentist to get them fixed. But don't forget to bring a hidden camera in case he tries to grope you while you're out.
Our fave classic video game now in edible form! This set of three sweet tins will have ya enjoying Pac-Man's power pellets, blue raspberry ghost sours and cherry ghost sours. Each keepsake tin is approximately 2.5"
Cool. Weed would look cool in those. I would fill one with weed and another one with booze and then swallow them and try to get on airplane. But then when security tries to stop me I'll blast off with my jetpack and probably get a JWI because my booze ghost leaked.

May 26 2009 Highly Questionable: Retro Star Trek Drawls

It's not dreaming about Spock staring at you in your skivvies with a quizzical smirk that bothers me, it's the fact that somebody might actually pay $75 for 34-year old USED underwear. What is this, Japan? Kidding -- you know I love you Japan!
Thanks darkfall13, and to answer your question: frightening.
May 25 2009 The Cap-Sac Is A Fanny Pack For Your Head

The Cap-sac came out in 1987 but didn't sell very well because there was no internet then. But now, thanks to a magical series of tubes, the Cap-sac is back to the future and helping people get laid and store things at the same time. It's a fanny pack for your head, yo. Available in both neon and non-neon colors, the $13 hats promise to add a bit of retro flair and storage space to almost any domepiece. I wear two at once because I'm so fresh and also I don't like things in my pockets that make me jingle. You hear that, Santa? I can hear your ass coming from a mile away!
Hit the jump for a couple more shots because I roll deep.

May 14 2009 Awh, How Cute: A Little LEGO Nintendo

This is a little Nintendo Flickr user Arkov made using LEGO pieces. As you can see, it's fairly simple. I didn't actually bother counting the number of blocks it took, but given a quick glance, I'd estimate somewhere in the six to eight range. Few enough for even you to be able to make one. Just kidding, you'd probably end up eating all the pieces. Which.....HEY, PUT THAT HELMET BACK ON! Your mother would kill me if she came home and saw you without your -- WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE SCISSORS?!?

Dec 10 2008 Microsoft 'Software', A New Clothing Line

Yes, for real. Microsoft is launching a clothing line named Software. I don't get the pun, but I'm sure it's funny. Hit the jump for three more available styles, all of which have a retro feel to them (including Bill's mugshot). So -- who's buying? Anybody? Apparently this is all part of Microsoft's new marketing campaign. But, I've got to tell you, Microsoft: your marketing dollars would go a lot further if you just bought up all the advertising space on Geekologie. And also, hired me as your spokesperson. Check out this new slogan I've been working on:
Microsoft - Macrohard when you need it to be.
BOOYA! That was a freebie, the rest you'll have to pay for.
Hit it for the other shirts.

Sep 12 2008 Pac-Man The Movie: Pac-Man In Real Life
This is a short film called Pac-Man: The Movie. It's told from the ghosts perspective, by four people running around in colored trash bags. I thought it was pretty cute. Not baby bunny cute, mind you, but definitely cuter than unidentifiable roadkill.
Thanks to Nicole, who once punched a ghost so hard it came back to life. But then she killed it again with her superpower -- sexiness. True story.
Sep 11 2008 Hybrid Gaming Systems: The Super Genintari

The Super Genintari was made by the same modder as yesterday's Nintoaster and combines four gaming systems in one. I'll let you guess which four. Pretty impressive, Mr. Modder, but I see your Super Genintari and raise you one XPlay-NeoGrafxJagDream 260064360. Geekologie Writer FTW!
Hit the jump for a couple more pictures of the translucent hybrid.

Sep 2 2008 I Am 8-Bit Art Exhibit: Works For Sale

There's an art exhibit running in Hollywood until September 7th entitled "I Am 8-Bit" that features a bunch of old school gaming inspired art. If you're in the area you might want to check it out at: Wonder Storefront Gallery, 6650 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA. But if you can't make it, all the pieces are available for sale online. The originals are fetching over a grand, but there are a couple prints (including a wicked Link/Gannon) for $100. Hit the jump to see some of my favorites, along with a link to both the show gallery and print sale page. Let's face it, there just isn't anything cooler than 8-bit gaming art. Well, besides 4-bit gaming art. ZOMG I'm so oldschool!
Hit it.
Aug 27 2008 Game De-makes: BioShock For Gameboy

The Pixelation forum ran a contest for users to create screenshots of what modern games would look like on the Gameboy. As you can see, that's BioShock, and there's a pretty good Twilight Princess and Guitar Hero after the jump. The board's current contest is to make your own Mega Man level, within the color and graphic limitations of the original NES games. Pretty neat stuff, and there's definitely a good amount of talent out there. Check it out and give it a go if it's your cup of tea. If it's my cup of tea, slip in a roofie when I go to the bathroom. I'm trying to get crunked.
Hit it for the other two mock-ups.
Jul 22 2008 IT Everywhere: An Art Project

In a similar vein as this and this, Paulthewineguy, a man who may or may not be Paul Giamatti from Sideways, has an ongoing art project entitled IT Everywhere. It's basically a bunch of video game/computer related art in the real world. Most of it is Photoshopped, but some are decals that he's stuck around town. As you can see unless you've lost your sight or are too young to remember, that's the opening scene from Ghosts 'n Goblins there. You know, the one where Arthur is lounging around in his drawls after banging the princess when that cockblocking jerk Satan shows up and steals the man's strange. Damn, should I design video games or what?
Hit the jump for several more worthwhile pics and a link to the huge gallery. Oh crap -- there's a Ghost Pirate LeChuck in there too. For those of you in the know, meet me at my tree fort at 6:00 PM, you're in the club.
Jul 9 2008 Super Mario Bros. "Landscape" Art Installation

I don't have much information about these pictures except they're part of an art installation entitled "Landscape" and feature, well, a landscape from Super Mario Bros. The installation may or may not have been created by a woman named Antoinette J. Citizen -- which is either the coolest real name ever, or the worst porn name ever. Let's see, what else? There are some interactive question mark boxes that play Mario sound effects when you push them and I totally want my bedroom done up like this. Fine, the guest bedroom. The wife would kill me if I took down any of her Johnny Depp posters in the master. Just kidding, those are mine. But seriously, they're not coming down.
Hit the jump for a bunch more pictures and a link to the gallery with even more.

Jun 23 2008 Eye Candy: Video Games Invade Real World
![]()
This is the second installment of "video games in the real world" art here on Geekologie. The first was brought to us by Mike (aka Pixel Fantasy) on Flickr, but this set was done by DeviantArt user RETROnoob. These are noticeably more intricate than the first. There's a ton more eye candy after the jump, so make sure to hit it for some Street Fighter and Mario Kart action, along with a bunch of others. My only complaint is this: enough with the teasing already. If people are gonna keep make these pictures, I think it only fair that somebody actually tear a hole in the time-video game fabric and merge our two worlds. Damnit, sex with a Koopa Troopa is my God-given right.
Hit the jump for a ton more.

Jun 6 2008 Classic Game Scenes Rendered In LEGO

Here are a bunch of classic video game scenes rendered in LEGO. As you can see, that's Duck Hunt there, and there's some Mortal Kombat, Contra, Castlevania, and Excitebike after the jump. I must say, they're all very well done and beautiful to look at. Not as beautiful as a naked chick mind you, but what is? Exactly, nothing. Even a naked chick with a penis isn't that bad if you squint your eyes and shake your head a bit.
Hit the jump for the rest of the eye candy and a link to Flickr with a few more.
May 23 2008 Let Your Coworkers Know You're Cool: Retro Gaming Cufflinks And Other Jewelry On Etsy

Seller pixelparty is selling a bunch of sweet-ass retro gaming jewelry on Etsy. The pieces featured in the picture are cufflinks, but they've also got earrings, pins and bracelets (including a Ganon pin I'm going to buy and burn -- I hate that bastard). Cufflinks are $16 and earrings are $10. Check out a bunch more pictures after the jump and then buy something and wear it to your next job interview. After all, nothing says, "I'll spend the entire day commenting on Geekologie and playing a Nintendo emulator" better than a pair of Goomba cufflinks. Well, besides the t-shirts I'm selling that actually say that.
Hit the jump for the rest and a link to the seller's site.
