Apr 21 2009 Not As Cool As Geekologie, But Nakeder

geckology.jpg

Geckology. Not exactly Geekologie, but hey, there's some side-boob action so I'll take it. And for those of you who care, this particular specimen happens to be a Tokay gecko (Gekko gecko), the second largest of the gecko species. He is NOT to be confused with that little wanker from the Geico commercials, who is obviously some form of day gecko. Just sayin', I used to study herpetology. Now, which one of you is brave enough to hold my pocket snake? He doesn't bite, but I may have lined my pocket with Super Glue.

Uncensored (and only slightly NSFW) picture after the jump.

Jan 7 2009 Most Complained About Commercial Of 2008

This is allegedly the most complained about commercial of 2008. It's an Australian ad for Kotex U brand tampons. And, despite all feminine hygiene commercials making me die a little bit inside, I didn't think it was that bad.

Thanks to Julian for reminded me that Summer's Eve commercials are, in fact, totally awesome.

Jun 6 2008 Derrie-Air: Pack Less. Weigh Less. Pay Less.

derrie-air.jpg

Derrie-Air is an airline that believes the less you and your baggage weighs, the less you should pays. It's fake and part of an ad campaign run by a Philadelphia newspaper to f*** with fat people.

Philadelphia Media Holdings spokesman Jay Devine said the goal is to "demonstrate the power of our brands in generating awareness and generating traffic for our advertisers, and put a smile on people's faces."

A disclaimer labels the ad campaign "fictitious" and says it is designed "to test the results of advertising in our print and online products and to stimulate discussion on a timely environmental topic of interest to all citizens."

"In other words," it says, "smile, we're pulling your leg."

Oh I'm smiling alright, but only because that's not my leg you're pulling, Jay. You have such soft hands. Hey, I didn't say stop.

Thanks to Dan and Matt, one of which better sneak me into their luggage on their next vacation -- or else.

Feb 15 2008 Fan Art Exhitbit Blows, Literally. HAHA AH!

fan-art.jpg

Don't worry, I punched myself in the groin for the post title. Scott Snibble's exihbit Blow Up is a neat little POA (piece of art). Basically a person sits at the table and blows into the small fans. Then the large fans across the room replicate the user's breathing patterns. That pattern will be played in a loop until somebody else makes a different one. While certainly cool (!) it's not nearly as awesome as my Punch Up art exhibit. Basically a regular person punches a punching bag, and then a giant amplifies that punch and applies it to your face. It was a huge hit (!) until my giant ran away.

Another picture and a video of the art in action after the jump.
