Oct 1 2009 Not For Combat: Sweet Master Sword Replica

master-sword-1.jpg

This is a wicked looking Master Sword replica made by Fiberglass Blades, a cosplay and collector prop maker. And if you couldn't guess by the name, the blade isn't actually real. It's resin! So good luck killing a thief with one. But I still want it!

This replica of Link's Master Sword from Zelda: Twilight Princess is a perfectly accurate cosplay and collector prop. The sword was made with durable resin and reinforced with aluminum or fiberglass rods for structural support, making it well balanced for carrying as a cosplay prop. The paint was custom automotive paint for a metallic and mirror-like shine, and to resist minor scratches. The sword measures about 42" long, and weighs about 3lbs. The sheath was lined with suede and soft foam to keep the blade firmly in place, and prevent scratches while sheathing. The sword was also made for a Dark Link version as well.

Dude says prices typically run between $400-$600, but I don't know exactly how much this one is. Which is probably a good thing, cause then I'd start saving my money with a goal in mind. Now? Now I just blow whatever I have on booze and unhealthy food. It works for me. Can I borrow $1?

Hit the jump for a bunch more shots, including a sweet-ass Hylian Shield which is also available.

May 27 2009 House From Ferris Bueller's Day Off For Sale

ferrari house.jpg

The Highland Park, Illinois home of Ferris Bueller's best friend Cameron is currently available for $2.3 million if you're interested. The house is best known for its cantilevered plate-glass garage that Cameron sends his dad's Ferrari through after kicking the shit out of it.

The Ben Rose Home - site of the famous movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Cantilevered over the ravine, these two steel and glass buildings - which can never be duplicated - have incredible vistas of the surrounding woods. This is a unique property designed by A. James Speyer and David Haid, both notable architects of the 20th Century.

Anybody seriously interested? And if so, want to adopt a blogger? Just saying, I'll do the dishes. And, hopefully, the maid. Pool boy too!

Thanks to wulk, who knows that people who live in glass houses shouldn't own Ferraris.

Feb 27 2009 Guy Makes Realistic Bioshock Syringe

bioshock syringe 3.jpg

Harrison Krix, the same guy that made the realistic Portal gun for his girlfriend has gone and made himself an ADAM syringe from Bioshock. Krix is a prop designer by trade, so it comes as no surprise he loves making this sort of thing.

Krix started with the pump and handle of the syringe, which he noted was modeled in the game after 1920's era gasoline pumps. Guess there are a lot of old-timey gasoline scraps lying around Atlanta, because Krix found his own pump, circa 1926, to use in his project. After that, he found a glass container to hold his "ADAM," added a cap to the end of the handle, and then stuck on the needle, which he built from a foot-long piece of PVC.

From there, he built some LED lights into the ADAM chamber to give his ADAM (which he made with red dye, hairgel and water) that freshly-harvested-from-human-flesh glow. For the piece de resistance, he attached a baby bottle nipple to the ADAM chamber, so you can pretend to drink the ADAM just like a Little Sister would. After that, it was just a matter of adding weathering effects to make the thing look like it'd been around the block of a failed underwater utopia.

I'd drink from it. Krix does commission work too so check out his blog if you're interested in him making you something. I'm already requested a Master Sword and Triforce though, so it may take him a while to get to your project. And speaking of which: I really don't feel safe when I come to visit, you should move.

Hit the jump for several more shots(!) of the awesome.

UPDATE: ZOMG, he already made a Master Sword, along with Hylean shield and Midna's helmet! Go here to check them out.

Nov 13 2008 A Peek At The Terminator Salvation Bike

terminator-bike.jpg

Allegedly this is the 'Moto-Terminator' bike set to appear in next year's Terminator Salvation featuring Christian Bale and Dick Dragon.

Production director Martin Laing was responsible for envisioning some of the near-future killing devices, and has created (among a lot of other scary looking metal) this Moto-Terminator motorcycle. The bike seems to be the chilling Terminator character we know and love in motorcycle form (note the signature red "eyes"), replete with plenty of new mean toys attached.

ZOMG, the Terminator as a motorcycle. What will they think of next?

A: Transformers.

Oct 28 2008 Man Restores Hover BMW From BTTF

hover-bmw.jpg

Jeff Chabotte is a Back to the Future fanboy and somehow managed to get his hands on Griff Tannen's BMW 633 HoverCar from the second movie. Unfortunately, even after a complete restoration it still doesn't hover an...Jeff -- what in the f*** kind of pose is that?

Oct 23 2008 eBay: Back To The Future II Jacket Replica

jacket-1.jpg

eBay seller bendianamj is selling a jacket he/she made to look like the one in Back To The Future II.

You are bidding on a Back to the Future Marty McFly Jacket from the "Back to the Future Part II" in Men's Size Large but fits like a Medium. It is the same future year 2015 style jacket that Michael J. Fox wore it in his moive (Back to the Future Part II). It is a great costume made by our own registered brand. The jacket is brand new and the condition is great. It is a Every BTTF Fans must have item!!!

They'll make one in any size you want, which leads me to believe that you're not getting an actual auto-fit jacket like the one in the movie. Which you should for freaking $400. And also, free shipping. I don't care if it's coming from Hong Kong, I wouldn't pay $40 to ship myself to the moon.

UPDATE
: Okay, I take back the moon thing. But for $40 I better get a whole shit-ton of packing peanuts -- I get hungry on long trips.

Hit the jump for several more pictures, including one from the movie, and a link to the auction.

Jul 29 2008 T.I.E. Fighter Model Used In Star Wars: A New Hope On eBay, More Than You Can Afford

tie-1.jpg

Want the T.I.E. Fighter model that was used in Star Wars: A New Hope? The one that hit Vader's ship? Well now you can, it's on eBay.

903. Original T.I.E. Fighter filming miniature and original camera reports from Star Wars: A New Hope. (TCF, 1977) During the nail-biting assault on the Death Star in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, this is the actual filming miniature of the T.I.E. Fighter that bumps into Darth Vader's fighter knocking him out of the trench, allowing Luke to destroy the Death Star. This historic piece is from the collection of Academy Award-winning Visual Effects wizard, Richard Edlund. The design concepts for the T.I.E. (Twin Ion Engine) Fighters of the Galactic Empire originally came from Colin Cantwell and Ralph McQuarrie. Joe Johnston, who was the visual effects art director and overall storyboard artist for the entire trilogy was very involved in the final finessing of the ships and Death Star designs. Only four T.I.E. Fighters were built for the first Star Wars film. Grant McCune, head of the model shop, used a fairly heavy but stable resin for the body of the ship and other resins for the tinier parts. It has a central hollow aluminum knuckle with six-way threadings for top, bottom, front, back, left and right side mounting options with 11/16 in. hollow threaded rods as wiring conduits which attached to the various self-lit neon blue pylons. The hexagonal wings are created of fine expanded metal sheeting. Much of the intricate design detail was robbed from plastic model kits, then modified and affixed.

Unfortunately, the little thing is only 18" H x 14" W, so there goes using it as a treehouse. So, what can one expect to pay for such a diminutive T.I.E. Fighter? How about $170,000? Yeah. There's never been a better time to kidnap, extort, blackmail, and/or auction your hitman services. I'll start by knocking off The Superficial Writer. Do I hear $10? $5? $1? 2-for-1 Whopper card? Fine cheapskates, but this is your only freebee.

Hit the jump for several more pictures and a link to the auction.

Jul 24 2008 OMG: Marty McFly's Hoverboard On eBay

hoverboard-1.jpg

After spotting the post about Marty McFly's Nike's on eBay last week, loyal Geekologie reader (and all around handsome devil) Dave was kind enough to inform me that THE FREAKING HOVERBOARD IS UP FOR SALE TOO!

This is one of the hero Mattel Hoverboards used by Michael J. Fox in his most famous role as "Marty McFly" in the Robert Zemeckis classic 80s trilogy, Back to the Future. Two styles of Hoverboard were made for and employed in the film - lightweight boards of styrofoam construction and thick and durable wood-based props - this example is the latter, and is recognized as the best example of all wood Hoverboards to have survived the rigors of filming.

It is in used but outstanding condition, and is very rare in that it is entirely complete and intact. Given the wood build and use of metal components, it looks and feels like a "real" prop. This piece has the complete fully functional and rear ballbearing-mounted footpad that rotates 360 degrees, as well as the bottom "magnet plates". Of the two styles of stickers used for the effects, this prop has the "photoboard"-style sticker affixed. In addition, there is other textured styling and hand painting. This Hoverboard also features the hole in the top, representing where the handlebars were that "Marty" pulled off after borrowing the "toy" from the little girl in the film.

Oh man, I need it. You think it still works? Unfortunately the bidding starts at, are you sitting down -- $30,000. So yeah, what I'm gonna do is this: Build a time machine, travel to the future, pick up a sports score book, travel back to now, place some huge bets, and then buy that mother. I'm original!

Hit the jump for a couple more pictures of the board in the movie, ALONG WITH A VIDEO OF THE WHOLE CHASE SCENE BECAUSE I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH. KISSES!

May 6 2008 Holy Repo, Batman: The Batmobile Is On eBay

batmobile-1.jpg

Remember Tim Burton's 1989 film classic Batman? You know, the one with the guy from Mr. Mom, that chick from L.A. Confidential, and the dude who I always confuse with the golfer with a similar name? Yeah, that one. Well one of the five Batmobile props is up for sale on eBay at a cool $500,000. It's prop car 5/5 and only has 58 miles on the odometer. The 20-foot long, 8-foot wide vehicle is built on a custom frame and powered by a Chevrolet 5.7L 350 engine. I kind of want it, but not that bad. I mean I already have a car. If I bought a Bat-vehicle, I'd go for something I didn't already have. I'm thinking Batman's yacht, the Batty Batshit.

UPDATE: Well the auction used to be there. Now the item has been removed. I hate to start wild speculation about what happened, so I'll cut straight to the chase -- the freaking Joker stole it.

Hit the link for a whole bunch more pictures and a link to the auction page where the auction used to be.

Nov 23 2007 Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider Gun For Sale

jolie-gun.jpg

The replica Heckler & Koch 9mm that Angelina Jolie used in the original Tomb Raider movie is for sale on eBay. It's made mostly of rubber, look pretty good, and comes with the holster that was worn on Angelina's leg. So yeah, you can own something that touched Angelina's leg. The bidding starts at $5,000, and nobody has made a move since the auction started four days ago. Because who the hell wants to blow 5K on a rubber gun? Not this guy. It's not like Angelina had sex with the gun or anything. At least not that I know of. If she did that would be a completely different story. A story that ends with that gun in my pants.

Aug 21 2007 Ugly Man Takes Han's Place in Carbonite

han-solo-carbonite.jpg

In one of the saddest turn of events I have read recently, some guy managed to secure a direct casting of Han Solo in carbonite from the original prop, and then had the face sawed off and replaced with a mold of his. This is in no way, shape, or form cool at all. What was this guy thinking? You have an iconic piece of one of the best movies of all time, and you go and deface it (literally). He probably has the Holy Grail chalice from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade too, but decided it wasn't cool enough and had to glue plastic rhinestones on it and write "Pimp Juice" on the side with puffy paint.

A closeup of the world's ugliest Star Wars fan after the jump, along with the forever dreamy Harrison Ford original carbonite.
