Jul 22 2009 That's Geeky: Poster Of Computer Hardware

computer-hardware-1.jpg

This is a poster of computer hardware designed by deviantART user Sonic480. Since it's kind of small, you can see a full size version HERE. Then, print it out and tack it to the ceiling above your bed. Move over, Megan Fox, there's a new poster in town my room. Just look at those CPU sockets -- YOW YOW!

May 20 2009 Lights, Camera, LEGO: Plastic Movie Posters

movie 1.jpg

In the same vein as the famous photo reproductions (and classic video games), this is a little gallery of movie posters made using LEGO blocks. I posted some of my favorites after the jump, but there are 21 in total (some of which were made by Flickr user Craig Lyons)so hit the link to see all of them if you're into that sort of thing. But, if you're into that other sort of thing, call me. I'm talking about sex with bloggers. Hey, a little experimentation never hurt anybody -- it just electrocuted a few lab rats. Ladies -- know what I'm sayin'?

Go on, hit it.

May 5 2009 Hmm: Star Wars Weekends Advertisments

star wars days 1.jpg

Star Wars Weekends are Star Wars themed weekends at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park. Here at Geekologie we've already seen several examples of the perversion that goes on there. Well, these are the posters advertising Star Wars Weekends 2009, which, I think we can all agree, are in surprisingly poor taste. Look -- you see how that woman is clutching her purse? Racist.

Hit the jump for three more, all of which contain shocking discriminatory undertones.

Mar 23 2009 True Blood Advertisements In New Zealand

true blood 1.jpg

HBO posted these True Blood posters in New Zealand (who seems to get much cooler ads than we do) to advertise the upcoming season of the blood-sucking series starting June 2009. As you can see, each ad features several handy-dandy vampire pokers should you find yourself with some pointy-toothed bastard eying your neck on the bus. Ya best protect ya neck! And also, your purse -- vampires are thieves! It's true, that dreamy Edward Cullen stole my heart. You smell that? *sniiiiiiiiiiiiff* Smells like Twilight on DVD!

Hit the jump for several more pictures, this one and the next of which were taken by New Zealand Geekologie operative, Jonathan.

Feb 17 2009 I Can See Inside!: The Anatomy Of A Qee Doll

qee.jpg

Okay, so I didn't know what a Qee was, but apparently they're little collectible dolls that come in all sorts of crazy funky-fresh designs. And this is what the insides would look like if there were actually living bear-mice and not plastic dolls for grownups. This anatomical chart was created by Jason Freeny, the same man responsible for the studies of balloon animal, gummi bear, and LEGO minifig. A limited edition of 1,000 prints are available if you're interested. Good looking, Jason. But not as good looking as yours truly. That mirror broke itself, I swear!

Feb 11 2009 Different Geeky Takes On The Iconic Obama 'Hope' Poster

obamicon-1.jpg

Remember the iconic 'Hope' posters used during Obama's presidential campaign? Ha, how could you forget, they're burnt into your retinas the way -- HEY LOOK AT THIS! -- my genitals now are. Well the website obamicon.me has been kicking it for a while, allowing any Tom, Dick, or Jane to make their own inspirational poster and message using a photo they upload. So go make one. Then post a link to it in the comments. But more importantly, hit the jump for a gallery of posters that are way cooler than the one you were going to make. Unless, of course, you were going to make one with a picture of me that says 'DOPE', in which case, yes, I am pretty fly.

Hit it for the galleria.

Aug 4 2008 'The Joker' Tries To Steal Movie Posters From Local Theater, Fails, Gets Himself Arrested

joker-1.jpg

Spencer Taylor, a 20-year old from Three Rivers, Michigan, dressed up as The Joker and tried to steal a bunch of Dark Knight movie posters and cardboard cutouts at a local theater.

At the time of his arrest, Taylor was wearing a purple suit and had made his face up with white foundation and red lipstick to resemble the character played by the late Heath Ledger, who played the comic book villain in the blockbuster, before his untimely death earlier this year.

Police made Taylor pose for his mugshots both in and out off costume. He has been charged with larceny and malicious destruction of property.

Wow, way to suck, Spencer. On a related note, some guy dressed as the Dragon Emperor from the new Mummy movie stole a Brendan Fraser poster and everyone just felt sorry for him.

Hit the jump to see The Aborted Joker without makeup and a picture of the real one.

Jul 9 2008 Super Mario Bros. "Landscape" Art Installation

mario-1.jpg

I don't have much information about these pictures except they're part of an art installation entitled "Landscape" and feature, well, a landscape from Super Mario Bros. The installation may or may not have been created by a woman named Antoinette J. Citizen -- which is either the coolest real name ever, or the worst porn name ever. Let's see, what else? There are some interactive question mark boxes that play Mario sound effects when you push them and I totally want my bedroom done up like this. Fine, the guest bedroom. The wife would kill me if I took down any of her Johnny Depp posters in the master. Just kidding, those are mine. But seriously, they're not coming down.

Hit the jump for a bunch more pictures and a link to the gallery with even more.

May 20 2008 IT Kama Sutra Poses Threw My Back Out

IT-kama-sutra.jpg

We've all been there before -- you get home from the bars after striking out with the ladies but you're still feeling amorous. So what do you do? You bang your computer. Well thankfully this is not a picture of that. These are actually Kama Sutra positions to be used by trained IT professionals to mount a PC while attempting a repair. I know nothing about these, because I am neither an IT guy nor any sort of professional. I've only tried one Kama Sutra position in my whole life, and that was the Pterodactyl. You should really try it some time. Whenever you're on top just hold the sheet in your outstretched arms and flap it like a giant wing while yelling, "CAW CAW!" Trust me, it's the most sensual thing a woman can ever experience.

Thanks to Shawn, who has tried all of these, but with chicks

Apr 10 2008 Godfather Art Made From The Entire Script

godfather-script-art.jpg

This is a picture of Don Corleone holding his cat. It's made from the entire Godfather script in varying shades of black (and a little red). A 24" x 30" poster will set you back $14, an unsigned giclee (limited edition of 1,000), $100, and a signed giclee (limited edition of 250), $300. They're awesome and I want one. And not just because I grew up wanting to be a gangster and watched that movie like a bajillion times. No, it's mostly because my "old men holding cats" poster collection simply won't be complete without it.

Hit the link for the product page where you can see a super high-res version.

Dec 7 2007 56 Geeks Poster For Your Basement Wall

geek-poster.jpg

Scott Johnson, a geek, made a poster identifying 56 different types of geeks. I'm sure there are more, but it's a good start. They're available from myextralife and will run you $36 for a 20x30" or $10 for an 8x12". Kind of expensive, but maybe you're in love with it. I'm not in love with it, but it's okay. Like my wife. She's alright, but nothing I'd marry again if I could do it all over.

I posted pictures of the whole damn poster after the jump, split in two.
