Oct 24 2008 OLD!: Grocery Store Wars

This is an older video but I'd never seen it, so I assume there are some of you out there that haven't either. It's Star Wars made in a grocery store with produce and other edibles, with a "buy organic and free range products" undertone. Well, not so much an undertone. More of an overtone. Oh, and rumor has it that it's fake, been shopped (the shadows are all wrong), and is actually a deleted scene from the summer blockbuster Never Back Down. *puts gun in mouth*

Jul 30 2008 Sure, Why Not: Trees As Artists

tree-art-1.jpg

British artist Tim Knowles ties markers and brushes to tree limbs and makes the helpless botanical bastards create art.

In collaboration with the wind and local weather conditions, calligraphic gestures and automatic drawing readings are recorded on paper. The amazing thing about Knowles' Tree Drawings is the unmistakable signatures that each drawing reveals as an indication of the unique characteristics and even genus/species of a specific tree.

Interesting. Ooooh, nice work Mr. Pine, another, um, turd. While I find the actual art of questionable merit (my maple could do so much better), I do love the photos of the trees painting. Regardless of my personal feelings, I do hope this style of art sells. Tell me I didn't just staple a Sharpie to my penis for nothing.

Hit the jump for several more pictures.

Mar 17 2008 Radio's Volume/Station Controlled By Rocks

rock-radio-1.jpg

The Natural Radio is controlled by rocks and operates using a scale. The more rocks you put on the volume scale the louder it gets. Same goes for frequency. Now I'm not very coordinated, so I couldn't imagine getting more than two or three stones balanced. What if I want to listen to 105.7? That seems like a lot of rocks. Maybe sand would work though. I'm much better with sand. You should have seen the wicked castle I built on the beach during my last vacation, it was awesome. Well, until that dick Poseidon destroyed it with a big wave. He still hasn’t forgiven me for that lusty night I spent with his sea-goddess Amphitrite. That's right folks, Aquaman is my son.

Several more pictures of the device after the dive.
