Oct 23 2009 Indiana Jones Action Figure (Plus Fridge!)

indiana-jones-fail.jpg

I never saw the new Indiana Jones movie because I prefer my childhood memories un-desecrated, but for those of you that did, and actually liked it, there's this $175 Kingdom of the Crystal Skull action figure. And it comes complete with the lead-lined fridge Indy uses to survive the nuclear blast! What an accessory! Unfortunately, it doesn't come with that fake apple, which is a shame because that was the only reason I was going to buy it. Oh, and why Indy's face looks like an orc from Lord of the Rings is beyond me. That ring belongs in a museum!

Sep 24 2009 Video Game Reality: Paperboy In Real Life

This is a video of the Atari classic Paperboy, but in real life. It's a little longer, and I know most of you have ADD (I'm right here with you), but it's definitely worth a watch while on the clock. Plus, the guys who made it are loyal Geekologists, and you know how I feel about you readers -- I love you all like little sisters! You know, from Bioshock. I'll harvest every last one of you!

Thanks to D_rock and cooperanimation, who don't need paperboys because they only read Geekologie. Smart. Plus you're saving trees!

Sep 3 2009 Kill It With Unkindness!: A Homeless Robot

kill-it-with-unkindness.jpg

Typically I find crazy homeless people cute with their funny signs and nonsensical babble. But not this one. You get no batteries, you hear me -- NO BATTERIES FOR YOU! I'll tell you what -- I would push this sucker down a flight of subway stairs like a street vendor's cart and not even feel bad about it. And if I have to go to a correctional facility and ended up being taken advantage of there, so be it. Haha, I saw that movie! Not really, I just know that that happens.

Thanks to Darken, who once Shawshank'd his cellmate for looking at him salaciously.

Aug 29 2009 I Would Watch That: Mario Kart, The Movie

This is a pretty awesome trailer for Mario Kart: The Movie. Obviously, the movie isn't actually real but the trailer is 3:40 long so you get to see all the would-be good parts anyway. I especially liked the part at the end where Princess gets all nekkid and dancy at the finish line. I jest. OR DO I? You'll have to watch to find out! Or not, because you know that nudity gets pulled off Youtube. Trust me, I've looked. AND uploaded. HIYO!

Youtube

Thanks to Juan, meeotch and Chris, who always want to play as Yoshi because that little green bastard can drive AND be sexy at the same time. And to Alex, who is actually part of the comedy group (Dr. Coolsex) that made the video. Good lookin', Alex.

Aug 24 2009 1,500 Hours Of LEGO Photography In 3:49

This is a short video entitled 8-Bit Trip that is a tribute to 8-bit video games made entirely out of LEGO blocks. Personally, I would have gone with a 16-Bit Trip, but I like good visuals (one time I saw the face of Loki from Super Ghouls n' Ghosts come out of a brick wall and try to lick me). A brief explanation of the video:

1500 hours of moving legobricks and take photos of them.

You'd think think with 1,500 hours to kill the maker could have afforded a couple hours of grammar lessons. I jest. But seriously: He who casts the first stone should always aim for the face.

Youtube

Thanks to Aisha, matt, Towhee Monster and deebo, who went on a 64-bit trip and nearly lost their minds.

May 19 2009 MUST SEE!: LEGO Mindstorm Pirate Movie

NOTE: I embedded the video in high quality so it may take a minute to load.

This is a little movie made using nothing by LEGO Mindstorm NXT sets and LEGO blocks. It is amazing. Plus, it's about pirates, so double whammy. The movie is only 2:20 long, and the rest of the video shows you what's behind the curtain, so you can understand how it was made. Which surprisingly didn't involve magic. Or so the maker would like us to believe. I'm on to you, sorcerer!

May 7 2009 It's Math!: Snatch + Star Wars = Snatch Wars

NOTE: VIDEO IS SLIGHTLY NSFW DUE TO LANGUAGE. AND I SAY SLIGHTLY BECAUSE IT'S HARD TO MAKE OUT WHAT THE GUY IS EVER SAYING. WATCHING AT FULL VOLUME RECOMMENDED.

You may have seen this already because it came out in December, and if you have, you only have yourself to blame for not sending it to me earlier. I could have made you a star. But instead, Josh and Lewis are gobbling up all your internet fame. Ladies, Josh and Lewis. Josh and Lewis, ladies. See? Now these two are hanging out with a bunch of topless models by a pool ON THE MOON. Just sayin', I have power. But not water. It's all good though because I just turn on the neighbor's hose after he goes to sleep. And I mean that sexually as hell. Anyway, this is a video mashup of scenes from Star Wars with the audio from Snatch called Snatch Wars. Which, I'll admit, I felt was more than a little misleading.

Youtube

Thanks Josh and Lewis, your topless models are in the mail. Gosh, I hope I remembered to poke breathing holes this time.

Apr 28 2009 Awesome Commercial For Philips 21:9 TV

This is short film entitled 'Carousel' (which has a very Dark Knight feel) meant to highlight Philips' new CINEMA 21:9 aspect-ratio television. I embedded it in high quality too, because it's awesome and I love you and don't just want to get in your pants (ignore that hand).

On its own, it clocks in at a (totally coincidental) two minutes and 19 seconds, but Berg conceived it to work as an endless loop. Visitors to the microsite therefore have the option to spin through the films single take shot repeatedly, to stop on a specific frame, or to watch it at the preordained speed. The film also contains embedded hotspots, which, when triggered, transport the viewer seamlessly from the heavily posted film to a behind-the-scenes version of the same shot. This constant moving between two layers of reality proved one of the projects biggest and most ambitious production challenges. Other details of the online execution play off the cinematic theme; the microsites loader doubles as a credit sequence, while rich media takeover banners drive traffic to the site by teasing viewers with an original Carousel trailer. All aspects of the production, from the film shoot to web design and development, were conducted by Stink Digital.

If you want to see the video in higher definition, go to the Philips site. If you don't, then you get your fix here. Personally, I thought it was awesome. Like watching two animals having sex in a nature documentary, except about as far from that as possible.

Apr 7 2009 Violence Escalates Between Twilight Fans (Twihards) And Non-Twilight Fans (Anti's)

twihard attacks.jpg

That's right folks, diehard Twilight fans (Twihards) are waging war on their non-teen vampire loving brethren (Anti's) for talking smack on the series. Thankfully, there's a discussion board that has collected all the cases of Twihards attacking Anti's with books, bricks, knives and flare guns. I'm sure some of them are fake, most are poorly written, but a couple of them were pretty funny. They're broken into categories, depending on the severity of the attack, ranging from slap on the wrist, to police worthy, to felony. You know, I always suspected these books were brainwashing readers into lives of violence. This Twilight series is even worse than gangster rap! And, oh God, my girlfriend is one of them! BURN IT WITH FIRE!

Mar 30 2009 Spock Sackboy Lives Long And Prospers

spock-sackboy-1.jpg

Somebody went and made a crochet Spock Sackboy (Spackboy) in celebration of the upcoming Star Trek movie. Also, I guess they like Little Big Planet. Which makes sense because of, you know, the, uh, transitive property? I don't know, I failed my college proofs class. And not just because I spent most of the period trying to take camera-phone pictures of the girl in front of me's thong. Haha, that would be ridiculous. But I do have several thousand.

Hit the jump to see a couple shots of Spackboy hanging out with a cat.

Mar 27 2009 Warp Whistle: Mario In The Real World

We've already seen several different versions of what it would be like if Mario existed in the real world. And, well, I hope you liked them because here comes another. This one is entitled 'Warp Whistle' and documents the plump little plumber's visit to Chicago. It's only three minutes long, so even if you hate it, you only wasted three minutes. Which, be honest, you would have blown just acting like you were working anyways. And speaking of acting like you're working -- can one of you tell The Superficial Writer or Iwatchstuff to jiggle my mouse -- I was supposed to come in today but decided to get drunk and lay on the bathroom floor instead.

Thanks to Lindsay, who looks a lot better in a raccoon suit than Mario. Furplay, YOW YOW!

Mar 20 2009 Now Now, Play Nice: Aliens Vs. Predator Ads

aliens-vs-predator-chess.jpg

This is a set of print ads run by a New Zealand cable channel advertising its upcoming showing of Aliens vs. Predator. As you can see (if Geekologie hasn't burnt out your retinas yet) they feature an Alien vs. Predator playing together civilly. This one is chess, but hit the jump to see pool and swingball. And speaking of swingball -- go ahead, give them a kick. Go on -- I can take it. Wait wait wait, I'm not rea--OH OFFFFOW OWW OWW OWW OOOOOOOWW OWW OW OW OH STOP OH STOP UHHH UUHH UUHH I CAN'T BREATHE STOP UHHH UUHHHH. Oh yeah, that's the stuff.

Hit it for the others.

Mar 12 2009 Wine: World's Most Complicated Corkscrew

This is the world's most complicated corkscrew. It not only opens a bottle, but pours it into your glass as well. The machine was allegedly made out of 300+ found parts and is going into limited production of 100 units. Which makes me wonder just how "found" the parts really were. Anybody else get the feeling they were "found" in a box of ordered supplies? Clever. But not nearly as clever as my corkscrew, which is a machete. Yeah, I learned the trick watching Big Trouble in Little China. "Nothing or double, Jack". Pork Chop Express FTW!

Now feel free to leave your favorite Big Trouble quote in the comments.

Mar 6 2009 Wicked Stop-Motion Video Of LEGO Minifigs Building The Millennium Falcon

We've already featured two different videos of people constructing the 5,195 piece LEGO Millennium Falcon, but this one is better. Why? Because LEGO minifigs are the ones doing the building! An ungodly number of hours went into the making of this video, so I'm really glad somebody else made it before I had to. Because I don't have time for that. Or getting up to go to the bathroom. Now somebody come empty my bag, but whatever you do: DON'T SQUEEZE IT LIKE YOU DID LAST TIME. You ruptured my bladder and now I've got urine floating around inside me.

Mar 4 2009 Game Over Man, Game Over!: An Aliens PS3

alien-ps3-1.jpg

Tattoo artist and casemoder 'givintats' went and made himself an Aliens inspired PS3 case. It was created "using hand-sculpted layers of epoxy putty, that looks like a hard metal when dried, often used to mend dented car fenders." Nice. And is there anything more awesome than an Aliens PS3? Yes, an Aliens PS3 that can play XBox games. Did your head just explode by my suggestion of awesomeness? It's true, I have the power of suggestive thought. Don't believe me? You should take your shirt off right now. Wait -- damnit, hold on. You should put your shirt back on. Now, ladies only -- you should take your shirt off right now. Awh yeah! Hypnotics, baby -- I have them. Now touch your nipple.

Hit the jump for two more shots.

Feb 20 2009 5 Minute Video Made From 6,000 Paintings

This five minute video was made by Reza Dolatabadi as his graduate film in college. It took over two years to complete and is comprised of 6,000 individual paintings shown at a rate of 20 per second. Freaking amazing. Granted, not as amazing as writing 3,003 posts on Geekologie, but still, valiant effort, Reza.

6,000 Separate Paintings... [theatlantic]

Thanks to Mark, who was going to make a movie out of a million paintings but lost them all in a house fire. So sad.

Feb 17 2009 Trailer: The People Vs. George Lucas

This is the teaser trailer for a documentary called The People Vs. George Lucas which discusses such hot topics as Jar Jar sucking major outerspace nadage and Han PEWing first.

Slated for release in 2010, 'The People vs George Lucas' delves into the impassioned feelings and opinions expressed by fans and foes of legendary screen icon George Lucas, and the many debates surrounding his legacy. Don't forget that you can still send us your own films and interviews until September 30, 2009!

Oh you're gonna get a film alright. An adult one. Starring me. And a cardboard cut out of Jar Jar Binks. Playing baseball. I will be pitching.

Feb 17 2009 I Can And Will Shoot: Terminator Salvation Toys Make You Look Like A Killer Robot

terminator crap 1.jpg

Want to look like a Terminator? Well I shoot to kill, just sayin'. Apparently this Terminator Salvation toy features a fist that shoots off to hurt your enemies. It costs $74. Which is pretty steep considering you're going to lose the fist, rendering your Terminator arm stupid. Hit the jump for two more toys, a voice-changing Terminator helmet ($74) that has red glowing eyes, and some pieces of plastic that look like metal that you strap to your face ($21). Note: Wearing either of which will get you BB'ed in the neck if you walk by my house at night. Jesus, whatever happened to kids playing with good old fashioned toys? Like matches.

Hit it for the other two.

Feb 17 2009 Escape From City 17: A Half Life Movie

This is part one in a series of shorts entitled Escape From City 17. They're all based on Half Life. You know, the game.

Originally envisioned as a project to test out numerous post production techniques, as well as a spec commercial, it ballooned into a multi-part series. Filmed guerilla style with no money, no time, no crew, no script, the first two episodes were made from beginning to end on a budget of $500.

Not freaking bad! And guys: if you're looking for someone to play the handsomely rugged hero in any future episodes, I'm your man. Seriously, I'm great at casting. Gentlemen -- to the couch!
