Jun 4 2009 Playstation Announces Own Motion Controller

Not to be outdone by XBox's announcement of Project Natal, Playstation brought their own motion controller news to E3. But, unlike Project Natal, which motion captures your entire body, the Playstation version relies on a magic dildo. This is a rather long demonstration of the device presented by two Sony engineers (one nervous, one stoned), so feel free to skip around. But not breakfast, that shit's important.

Jun 2 2009 XBox's Project Natal: You ARE The Controller

XBox announced Project Natal at E3 yesterday and, hooray. Basically it's a video camera capable of full-body tracking so that you can punch and kick and break your television to your heart's content. This is a video of the possibilities. Also, there's another video after the jump that introduces Milo, which appears to be some kind of pedo-program that makes it easier to troll the interweb for 12-year old boys. Because, let's face it, AOL chatrooms are beat, yo.

Hit the jump for the other video that made no sense and not just because I stopped paying attention and went to heat my burrito (ladies?) after thirty seconds.

Jul 14 2008 Impressive: Homemade Paintball Sentry

Some dude made a paintball sentry that automatically detects moving objects and lights them up (with paintballs, not light, silly!). It's pretty freaking impressive. Skip to 2:00 to see an impressive distraction test, 3:30 to see a kid on a trampoline getting destroyed, and then keep watching to see the thing shooting at a guy speeding by in a Jeep. The kid that made the unit hopes to sell them once he's fine-tuned the design, but claims, "My ridiculously low income is the only thing slowing me down." Tell me about it, paintball sentry maker, I'm right there with ya. My ridiculously low income is the only thing keeping me living in my parent's attic. Well, that and I've befriended the mice. Haven't I, Cheesy Weesy? You're my little mousey wousy, aren't you? Gimme kissy. OW, YOU BIT ME YOU LITTLE....uh-oh. Aw George, I can still tend the rabbits, can't I?

Thanks to Harry and Sev, both of whom could easily dodge the paintballs with their l33t ninja skills

Dec 27 2007 SmartNav Controls Cursor With Your Head

smartnav-mouse.jpg

The SmartNav is a system designed to control a mouse cursor with your head. You set the scary looking thing on top of your monitor, slap a reflective dot on your head, and you're good to go. Unfortunately you're not good to click on things, so you'll have to install a foot pedal or something to make that happen. The unit costs between $240 and $400 depending on the setup, and is guaranteed to make you look cool (see video). I just wish they would have made it so that you could click on things without the need for another device. Maybe if you just bob your head like a chicken twice really fast then that can count as a click. Or make like you're trying to bite your ear. I don't know, something.

A disturbing video of the system in action after the jump.
