Nov 14 2009 Mario And Luigi Rob Cab Driver In New York
Mario and Luigi, best known for plunging shitters and trying to save the Princess from the evil clutches of Bowser, have turned to a life of crime. Specifically, robbing cab drivers. What's the Mushroom Kingdom coming to?!
At around 4 a.m. on November 1, presumably following a Halloween party, a Staten Island cab driver was assaulted and robbed by four men. It being Halloween, it may have been difficult for the victim to describe the assailants, but two of the men were wearing unmistakable costumes - Mario and Luigi.
A surveillance video, which can be viewed on the NYDailyNews, shows two men dressed as Mario and Luigi wrestling a cabbie for his cash while a third man dressed in a tuxedo stood watch.
Anybody with information about the true identities of the two has-been heroes should contact Princess Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom. Oh, and tell her the GW sent you. She doesn't know who I am, and I want you to look stupid.

This is a super impressive Dr. Mario song and accompanying animated music video, the result of a collaboration between Brentalfloss (of Mega Man, Super Mario World and Tetris song fame) and Parker Simmons. Good lookin', guys. Also, who knew that Link had Hepatitis? I mean, besides Zelda. And Talon. And *ahem* Epona. WRAP THAT OCARINA UP, SON!

You probably already know this because you searched "giant LEGO Mario" on eBay this morning, but for those of you that didn't, the world's largest LEGO Mario statue is for sale on eBay.
Biggest Lego-Mario in the World - (Size over 5 ft 9 / 70.8 in)Game Mania Started the build of this statue with aid of a professional Lego builder 2 weeks before officially revealing it at the LEGO WORLD fair 22nd October 2009. This statue measures 70.87 inch (5.9 ft / 180 cm), contains more than 40.000 Lego bricks and weights over 110 lb (50 kg).
Profit will be donated to charity: The Ronald McDonald House Charity in The Netherlands.
Mario has been completely glued together so he doesn't arrive like that pre-built LEGO castle I ordered and is currently at €3,250 (~$4,800). Anybody own an arcade? Oct 14 2009 Live Action Mario, Lou Albano, Dies At 76
Some of you whippersnappers may be too young to remember the awesomeness that was the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, a 52-episode series that come out in '89. But I do, because it was on tv, and tv was my only friend (plus on Fridays there were Zelda cartoons!).
Wrestling fans know him as the WWE Hall of Famer who managed more than 50 wrestlers in his day, with more than two dozen championships won by athletes taken under his wing. 80's music fans might remember him from his appearances in many Cyndi Lauper music videos, including "Girls Just Want To Have Fun", "She Bop", "Time After Time" and "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough." As gamers, we of course remember him as the best live-action Mario of all time.
Sadly, Lou Albano passed away today at 76. He will be missed.

Oct 12 2009 I Would 100% Eat Those: Mario Bon-Bons
These Mario bon-bons were all created by L337 skilled pastry artist (and Flickr user) Ana Fuji (like the apple!) and feature a fondant character atop a delectable chocolate ball. I think my favorite is either the fire-flower or Bomb-omb (another picture after the jump). Also, Ana did a series of Pokémon characters as well, which I think we can all agree brings new meaning to the term "Poké-bons", am I right? Or any meaning at all SEEING HOW IT DIDN'T EXIST BEFORE I JUST MADE IT UP! Word wizarding degree: I got mine from Hogwarts. Get jealousful!

Here's another Mario related project of mine...actually I just noticed that the only projects I've posted here are Mario inspired! I saw a project similar to this one on Ravelry and just had to have a go at it.
This is a Piranha Plant scarf that I made for my bf's younger sister. She's either a Junior or Senior in high school.
If you want to try knitting your own she has the pattern explained in the thread(!). I thought it was taking a stab at, but I'm no good with needles. I ended up mainlining a whole ball of yarn!

So I'm a fashion major. Graduated in 2007, and just NOW got around to uploading pics of my stuff! I'm an avid gamer for life. Shooters, RPGs, PC, nintendo, Xbox... I'll play anything if I can afford it. Smiley I also don't like to take myself too seriously, so I decided that my senior collection was going to be mario eveningwear. Ya know, lots of sequins, duchess satin, chiffon, coupled with the crazy icons we know and love.

If there's one thing to earn some serious street cred, it's a pair of custom painted Mario shoes. Kidding, it's calling a grizzly bear a bitch to her tits and stealing a cub, but these might net you a little.
Each one is precisely handpainted by Rachelle Williams of ParadoxArtistry, and covered with imagery of all of your favorite Super Mario characters. At $160 smackeroos a pair, they're not cheap, but think about how much two original paintings and a pair of high-tops would cost you and then it doesn't seem that bad. While the pair shown above is a Men's size 11, Rachelle will happily make you a pair in any size.

Sep 8 2009 Impressive: Soda Box Mario At Gas Station
This is an incredibly impressive Mario themed soda display at an unknown gas station in Mysteryville, USA. Sure there are clues in the picture as to where it was actually taken, but do I look like Sherlock Holmes. This is a crack pipe! Anyway, kudos to whoever spent the time and energy to make such a wicked display. I used to work in a gas station and I never did anything like this. No, I would just get high in the walk-in soda cooler and then wait for the first person to come in to buy a drink. It would smell like ganja when they opened the cooler door! Then I'd give them the wrong change and eat a bunch of candy.

This is a pretty awesome trailer for Mario Kart: The Movie. Obviously, the movie isn't actually real but the trailer is 3:40 long so you get to see all the would-be good parts anyway. I especially liked the part at the end where Princess gets all nekkid and dancy at the finish line. I jest. OR DO I? You'll have to watch to find out! Or not, because you know that nudity gets pulled off Youtube. Trust me, I've looked. AND uploaded. HIYO!

As you may very well know, God invented Fridays for leaving work early and logging as much Youtube time as possible while you are in the office. And he sent me here to help. I AM A WARRIOR FOR HEAVEN. Or, from heaven. Ladies? I have wings AND a bow and arrow! *twang* Your heart, it's mine now.
Anyway, this is a video of Mario and the gang holding a casting call for Super Mario Bros. villains. It's not really laugh out loud material, but I thought it was pretty cute and well made.
