Oct 12 2009 Eh: Marge Simpson In Upcoming Playboy

marge-playboy.jpg

Whee, Marge Simpson is gonna be in the upcoming November issue of Playboy. Great, like I haven't already seen her naked a million times in those racy cartoon pop-ups that I got from that sketchy hentai porn site came pre-installed on my computer.

Playboy said the cover and a three-page picture spread inside was a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the "The Simpsons" and part of a plan to appeal to a younger generation of readers.

Scott Flanders (IRONIC!), the recently-hired chief executive of Playboy Enterprises, told the Chicago Sun-Times in an interview that the Marge Simpson cover and centerfold was "somewhat tongue-in-cheek."

"It had never been done, and we thought it would be kind of hip, cool and unusual," Flanders told the newspaper. He said the magazine hoped to attract readers in their 20s compared to the average Playboy reader's age of 35.

Right, "hip, cool and unusual". Listen, Playboy, this guy sucks. You want somebody to help you appeal to a younger, more influential demographic, I'm your man. And by man I mean huckleberry. You're no Daisy -- you're not Daisy at all! Wow, that just took on an all new, much sadder meaning.

Thanks to Scarlet, Camille, john and Duke, who aren't stimulated by cartoons because they're sexually repressed. Geez, you guys need some Saturday morning therapy.

Jun 1 2009 New Yorker Cover Painted On iPhone

This is a video of Jorge Columbo (not to be confused with Peter Falk) painting the cover of the latest New Yorker, which was created using a $4 iPhone app called Brushes. As you can see, it's okay. Don't get me wrong, I love all hotdog vendors, but I would have gone with Ignatius dressed as a pirate. Paradise Vending FTW? Dunces FTW!

Thanks to e, who knows the only iPhone app you need is Scramble.

Mar 11 2009 First Look At Bioshock 2's Big Sisters

bioshock big sis.jpg

I dunno, it kind of looks like the lovechild of Altair from Assassin's Creed and a steampunk G.L.A.D.O.S. from Portal. Which, I think we can all agree, makes for one hell of a sexy enemy! *wolf whistle* Hey Big Sis, come get some of this! Haha, I know that sounded wrong but I'm not taking it back.

Thanks to Julian and junkyard dog, who find both find the Big Sisters even more attractive than I do, which makes them both sick in the head.

Jan 8 2009 The World's Smallest Automatic Weapon?

Allegedly this is the world's smallest automatic weapon. I'm pretty sure it's just some sort of automatic handgun with a monster drum magazine, but what do I know -- I'm just a guy who gets a boner holding a BB gun.

Thanks to Andrew, who once brought a knife to a gunfight and stabbed everyone to death. Also, thanks to my brother, who PEW PEWs with the best of them.

Sep 9 2008 New Esquire Magazine With E-Ink Cover

Did you pick up a copy of the 75th anniversary Esquire magazine yesterday to keep abreast of men's fashion? No? Well how about for the "first e-ink cover in history"? No? Well don't fret, because this is a video of the thing. As you can see, it's a magazine with a little e-ink panel. So what does this mean for magazines of the future? They're gonna consume more power.

Mar 26 2008 Finger Piano Toy Came With Kid's Magazine

Shougaku Ichinensei, a Japanese magazine for 1st graders, always comes with a special learning toy, and this month it was an awesome Finger Piano. Here's the video. I'm not sure, because it's hard to hear the music over the noise of it being banged against the table, but I think it's someone having a seizure trying to play When the Saints Go Marching In. Still, a fun little gadget, I know I'd be stoked if I was in 1st grade and got something resembling a Power Glove. I mean WTF Highlights? Where were you on this? You didn't come with shit but paper cuts and those damn hidden picture games on the back.

Another video after the jump proving beyond the shadow of a doubt it's practically a fully functional piano you wear on your hand.

Nov 19 2007 Amazon Releases Kindle, Oh Happy Day!

kindle.jpg

Kindle, Amazon's ebook reader dropped today for $400. Over 90,000 titles are already available for the device, and each is less than $10. You can also get subscriptions to major newspapers, magazines, etc. for a monthly fee. "The unit is not Wi-Fi compatible. Instead, it's on its own EV-DO network, called Whispernet, which is affiliated with Sprint." You can't actually use it as a web browser though, except for free access to Wikipedia. So, yeah. Someone get one and tell me how it is. I like the newspaper subscription idea, but I prefer my books analog. There's just nothing more relaxing than sitting on the john with a hardback stretched across your naked thighs. Well, until your legs fall asleep and you collapse trying to stand up. Then you're lying on the cold tile floor with your pants around your ankles and a cat licking your face.

Nov 6 2007 Magazine Holding Wastebasket For The Can

magazine-waste-basket.jpg

Designer Stephen Hauser aka Snowtone has created the Snowtone Wastebasket. It's a trashcan for the bathroom that holds a magazine on top, so you can read hands-free. It was designed because resting a magazine on your lap makes your penis disappear. Sure it's just on the other side of a magazine, but I for one like to keep visual contact with my unit at all times, lest he try to escape his beating.

Aug 17 2007 Magazine Creators Not Familiar With Internet

OMFG-Magazine.jpg

From the "we live in a cave on a distant planet" department comes Official Meeting Facilities Guide's magazine "OMFG". Now right there on the cover it indicates that they have a website (also omfg.com) which 1. I am surprised was not already taken by me, and 2. might indicate that maybe somebody involved would be internet savvy enough to realize that the name you have chosen is horrible. They were probably sitting at the boardroom table kicking around ideas for a name, and had them narrowed down to "LOL", "WTF", "STFU", and "ROTFLMAO" before finally just going with the classic "OMFG".

Aug 10 2007 Levo Book Holder

levo-book-holder.jpg

If you're as lazy as I am then you know how annoying it can be holding a book. Well Skymall is selling an innovation that must have been years in development. It is a piece of crap on wheels that looks like a lamp, but holds a book! And it's only $165. I mean it may look awful, but who cares, look at the guy in the photo, he looks real comfortable. Who needs to read anyways when you can pass out under a magazine with your hands in your pants?
