Jul 3 2009 Anti-Paparazzi Bag Flashes Bulb, Not Privates

Some guy named Adam Harvey designed an anti-paparazzi purse that, when the flashbulbs of the photogs go off, immediately flashes it's own bulb back, ruining their pictures and effectively protecting your privates from showing up on TheSuperficial. Obviously, it's a terrible idea. Terribly terrible. Right up there with the current public decency laws. IT'S HOT OUTSIDE, GIMME A BREAK. Also, a rub-down with that lotion ;). SP my F.

Thanks to FDSY, whose anti-paparazzi device looks a lot more like a sock full of quarters.
Nov 11 2008 Design Contest Mimobot Flash Drives

Mimoco, the company best known for making cute USB drives (particularly the Star Wars series), recently held a contest in which fans were encouraged to design their own Mimobot and submit them for voting. Well the ballots were cast, and these are (five of the) six winners, each made into a real Mimobot. Available in 1, 2, 4 and 8GB capacities, they'll set you back $25, $35, $50 or $80, respectively. I really want the Russian Cosmonaut myself. And not just because I'm building a rocketship and blasting off to the moon (although I totally am). Nope, I'm just a man that loves good Russian vodka. You ever broken the top off a bottle so you have to finish the whole thing in one sitting? Mmmm, something about the broken glass really makes your stomach bleed.
Jul 25 2008 The Rest Of Star Wars Series 3 Mimobot's

Remember when we revealed Wicket as the second character in Mimoco's Series 3 of Star Wars flash drives? Well the remainder have been announced, with a Royal Guard and shiny-ass C-3P0 rounding out the set. Damn chrome dome, you're blinding me with that golden melon of yours! They're available now and come in 1,2,4 and 8GB varieties for $40, $50, $75 and $110, respectively. They did a great job with them all, but Wicket will always hold a special place in my heart. And also, stomach. I ate him!
Jul 8 2008 Geekologie Exclusive: The Next Mimobot Star Wars Series 3 Character Is...(Drumroll, Please)

Wicket! Come collect your prize. Last week it was announced that Darth Sidious was the first character in the Mimobot Series 3 of Star Wars USB drives, but Wicket comes in a solid second. God I love that furry little bastard. So cute, I just want to eat him. I mean after skinning and roasting of course. I kid, I kid! The remaining two characters will be revealed in the next two weeks, and the entire series goes on sale July 23rd. Hit the jump for several closeups and a little diorama of Wicket standing on an Imperial Speeder in the woods with several other characters. After all, what good is a USB drive if it doesn't look like one of your favorite movie characters and can't be set it up in little dioramas?*
*No good.

May 28 2008 Steampunk USB Drive Looks Pretty, Shiny

This is a steampunkified USB drive that comes to us all the way from Russia. As you can see it's got all the typical steampunk necessities, namely brass and copper. No actual steam though, that would be ridiculous (and dangerous to carry around in your pocket). Say, have I ever told you the one about the time my girlfriend "steampunked" the computer for my birthday? Yep, she actually steamcleaned all the components. You know, because she's an idiot. Despite her incredible ignorance and the monumental loss of porn, I did appreciate the gesture. Just kidding, I let her pay for my birthday dinner and then broke up and slept with her roommate.
A couple more pictures after the jump.

Oct 24 2007 Mix Tape Flash Drive Is Retro-Modern

The MIXA is a 1GB USB drive that looks like a cassette tape. It takes this idea to the next level. You got to the MIXA website and use some graphic creation software to design a custom sticker for each side of the tape, along with a sleeve to store the drive in. It costs $40 for all this action, but you also get some more MIXA stickers and a USB extension cable. Which still doesn't make it worth it. Now I'm no handyman, but I've got the feeling I'm capable of wedging a $10 flash drive into a cassette tape and printing off some stickers of unicorns and kitties to slap on. Which will leave me with about $25 left over to apply to a MIXA when my shit falls apart.

Sep 14 2007 USB Spypen Is Huge, Won't Trick Anyone

The Thanko Spydisk packs an SD card reader/writer along with 512 MB of its own flash memory into a pen the size of one of those jumbo pencils you used in kindergarten because you had no hand coordination. The USB connector is hidden under the pen cap, and the car reader is behind the pen's clip. It costs $50 plus shipping, and I question its spy-worthiness. Of course, I'm not a very good spy. The last time I tried to steal a company's trade secrets I didn't download anything, and accidentally uploaded my personal banking information, along with some private pictures my girlfriend and I took on vacation.

Jul 31 2007 CGDC3: Gimme Friction Baby

Gimme Friction Baby is the winner of the 3rd Casual Gameplay Design Competition. You can play it here, or check out the rest of the entries here. Personally, I didn't find it to be all that fun. I mean, what am I supposed to do after my score hits 10 gazillion?

Apr 2 2007 Universcale tells you how big everything is

Universcale is a cool little flash app that displays the scale of everything in the Universe (or at least a lot of things in the Universe) and gives you a scale that puts them all in perspective. You can see how a single proton compares to a rabbit or how a rabbit compares to the Eiffel Tower or how the Eiffel Tower compares to a planet. I just wish they had an option to put in your own items, because I'm curious how my enormous biceps would measure up.
