Nov 18 2009 I Like: Geekologie Reader's Mario Animation
This is a 'Pulp Fiction' styled Mario animation that Geekologie Reader Jeremie made. It is most impressive and has restored my faith in Geekologie Readers. For awhile there I was worried you were just a bunch of no-talent FIRST!ing ass-hats. So yeah -- thanks Jeremie, I needed that. *removes laser blaster from mouth*
Thanks to Jeremie, whose starcoin-purse is the one that says 'bad mother f***er' on it.
Aug 13 2009 You're Doing It Wrong!: Astronomers Discover A Planet Orbiting Its Sun Backwards

So apparently astronomers have spotted a planet that orbits its sun in the opposite direction that the sun rotates, the first known of its kind. Nice. WAY TO BE DIFFERENT YOU STUPID LITTLE PLANET, YOU JUST BLEW MY WHOLE THEORY OF PLANETARY ORBITY THINGS! You jerk.
The star and its planet, WASP-17, are about 1,000 light-years away.WASP-17 likely had a close encounter with a larger planet, and the gravitational interaction acted like a slingshot to put WASP-17 on its odd course, the astronomers figure.
You know, this reminds me of a special little planet I knew growing up. He always put his shoes on the wrong feet and had to wear headgear to school. But you know what? HE TURNED OUT TO BE THE LITTLE PLANET THAT COULD. What -- no I'm not talking about myself, this kid was actually retarded (of course it was me).

Apr 11 2009 Shhhh, Don't Tell Her: A Diamond Tester

If you're anything like me, you probably saved yourself a couple grand by going with a piece of windshield glass instead of an actual diamond in your fiance's engagement ring. Just kidding, I'm not really engaged. But I would consider safety glass as a diamond alternative depending on my fiance's vision. Unfortunately, now there's an easy to use diamond-tester on the market to foil my plans. The $200 device quickly determines whether a diamond is the real deal or Moissanite (silicon carbide). That's okay though, we still have options: namely, rewiring the device to always answer diamond to moissanite. Now, which one of you lovely ladies wants to be my bride? Diamonds everyday!

Oct 7 2008 FAKE!: Alleged Smart Car Body Kits

Well folks, it looks like today is Smart Car day on Geekologie. This here is an alleged Smart Car with a Porsche body kit. Hit the jump to see Corvette, Ferrari, and Lamborghini models. Needless to say, they're all fake and been Photoshopped. FAKE! FRIST! FIRSTIES! SECOND? THIRD YOU STINKING ASSHOLES!
Hit it for the rest.
Sep 18 2008 The First Glimpse Of An Actual Alien Planet

That's right folks, this is not the light at the end of the tunnel, it's a star and orbiting planet some 500 light years away.
While scientists have found numerous planets by detecting gravitational "wobble" in stars, "this is the first time we have directly seen a planetary mass object in a likely orbit around a star like our Sun," said the lead author of a paper about the discovery, David Lafrenière.
The planet is 3,106 trillion miles away and approximately 8x the size of Jupiter, but 11x further from its sun than Neptune is from ours. Interesting, very interesting. Being a town-renowned astronomer myself, I'll go ahead and spit some info about the planet that those pseudo-scientists that made the discovery failed to mention. Let's see here....round, yellowish-orange, significantly smaller than 1".
BAM! You just got Saganed!

Sep 9 2008 New Esquire Magazine With E-Ink Cover
Did you pick up a copy of the 75th anniversary Esquire magazine yesterday to keep abreast of men's fashion? No? Well how about for the "first e-ink cover in history"? No? Well don't fret, because this is a video of the thing. As you can see, it's a magazine with a little e-ink panel. So what does this mean for magazines of the future? They're gonna consume more power.
Jul 10 2008 iPhone On Sale Tomorrow, This Kiwi Got One

Well folks, in case you had forgotten, the 3G iPhone goes on sale tomorrow. And, apparently, this assblastingcap in the photo was the first to procure said device because he lives in New Zealand, and somehow it's already Friday over there. Anybody understand how that works? I don't. Is the world spinning faster over there or something? Does it have to do with magnets? Is it ever like a full week ahead? Because if so I want to go over there, watch the news from over here, and then fly back and play the lottery real quick once I know the winning numbers. Does anybody do that? Is it illegal?
3G iPhone tomorrow, who's getting one? Who doesn't care? Who thought I was being serious about the whole time travel thing? I'm not stupid, I know it doesn't have anything to do with magnets. It's something about Australia's gravitational influence.

Jun 17 2008 F1RST! Shirt Lets People Know Things

The F1RST! shirt from Busted Tees costs $15 and let's everyone know you're one of those people. You know, the kind that wears printed novelty shirts. And likes posting FIRST in blog comments sections. AND that you have some fundamental understanding of where babies come from (storks, yo). Hey, whatever floats your boat. I think the FIRST! thing is a little sophomoric myself, but as long as you read Geekologie, you're still okay in my book. Just please, don't do it on this post.
A picture of a chick wearing the shirt (which makes it look a lot better than that dude), after the jump.
