Oct 28 2009 Road Rash: Crazy Four-Wheeled Motorcycle

The 2010 Cosmos 4RW V8 Muscle Bike sports four 17-inch wheels, a 250 cubic inch V8 producing 350 horsepower and an extra helping of deathtrap. Want one? Expect to spend $93K. Unless you're Batman, in which case it comes standard in the front end of a Tumbler. Unless he's been drinking, in which case it may come smashed in the grill of an 18-wheeler.
Is a motorcycle still a motorcycle if it has four wheels? [dvice]
Thanks to Chris, who drives a four-wheeled moped which I think we can safely assume has never felt a woman on its Italian pleather seat.
Oct 9 2009 Yeah, But Can It Fly?: Amphibious WaterCar Does 60MPH On Both Land And Sea

The $200,000 WaterCar is the lovechild of a Corvette that fell in love with a cigarette boat. But, like having sex with a mermaid, everyone will tell you it was just a manatee.
Get a Corvette engine, rig it up with a Dominator Jet drive, and then strap it into a floating car, and you get the WaterCar Python, the fastest and highest-performing amphibious vehicle in the world. If zipping over the water at a top speed of 60mph doesn't float your boat, it'll accelerate on land at a neck-snapping 0-to-60 speed of a mere 4.5 seconds.
Call me old fashioned, but I like all my vehicles single-purpose. If it drives on the road, I don't want it in the ocean or sky. I mean, that's just more stuff to go wrong. And wrong, my friends, is the opposite of right. And two Wrights made an airplane. ZING! Thanks for that one, dad.
Hit the jump for several more shots and a video of the thing in action (worthwhile stuff starts at 0:50).

Aug 28 2009 Real Life Mario Kart Go-Kart Is Super Scary
This is a video of a go-kart with a Honda CBR 900RR motorcycle engine in it. It's the closest thing to a real Mario Kart I've ever seen. I love how the guy driving doesn't even bother wearing a helmet. Because, honestly, heads are overrated, especially when you're drifting into a curve at a billion miles an hour. I guess what I'm trying to say is this: I would have turbo-boosted through those turns, nancy boy!

Thanks deadbodyman -- say, you mind helping me get rid of this thing in my trunk?
Aug 14 2009 WTF Is That?: The Lazareth Wazuma Bio V12
The Lazareth Wazuma Bio V12 is the lovechild resulting from the night a 4-wheeler banged mother nature and then slept with a Formula-1 car for good measure (read: a 500-horsepower death trap that runs on E85 ethanol and costs a staggering $285,000). You'd think for more than a quarter of a million dollars you might get a roof and maybe an airbag, but no, YOU ARE TOO RICH TO DIE. Don't worry, your money will save you (no, no it won't).
Thanks to fleity, who's smart enough to know that race car is a palindrome.

Dec 2 2008 Wait, What?: A Gas-Powered Snowboard

Hammacher Schlongmeister, purveyor of the utterly ridiculous, is selling a gas-powered snowboard this year. Because, you know -- shit, beats me.
This is the gas-powered vehicle that combines the thrill of riding a snowmobile and the freedom of a snowboard, enabling you to surf effortlessly over the deepest fresh powder or on packed, granular snow. Powered by a 6 1/2-hp four-cycle gasoline engine that starts with a pull, it can accommodate riders up to 250 lbs. and has a maximum speed of 18 mph, operating up to two hours on only 3/4-gallon of gasoline.
All that and it'll only set you back $2,000. They're practically giving them away! And as a guy who's broken his arm snowboarding, I've got to admit: two grand is a small price to pay to shatter it again. *CRUNCH* I can see the bone!

Nov 5 2008 The Scorpion: A 40-MPG, 450-Horsepower Hydrogen-Powered Arachnid -- That Stings

Okay it doesn't really sting, it's just a freaking car. Oh wait, maybe it does.
The Scorpion gets its sting from a hydrogen delivery system the company calls H2GO. While cars like the Honda FCX Clarity and Chevrolet Equinox use hydrogen fuel cells to drive electric motors, the Scorpion uses electrolysis to convert water into gaseous hydrogen. The hydrogen is mixed with 91-octane gasoline to improve the fuel economy and reduce the emissions of the car's 3.5-liter internal combustion engine.
Ronn Motors is confident that the sexy Scorpion will top 200 mph. The chrome-moly chassis and carbon-fiber body surrounds a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 in a car that weighs just 2,200 pounds. The engine was sourced from Acura -- it's the same mill found in the TL Type S, albeit turbocharged -- and mated to a six-speed gearbox. The car will set you back $150,000, and if 450 ponies isn't enough, another $100 grand will get you a tweaked version with another 150 horsepower.
Oh man. I want one. Badly. Really badly. Just imagine: you're cruising along in your Scorpion, when you decide to swing by the BK drive-thru for a #4 with a Coke. ZOMG I'm making myself moister than a towelette. Just kidding, I don't even know what that means. Or do I?
Hit the jump for a couple more worthwhile pictures.

Jul 29 2008 $100,000 Jetpack Coming Next Year?

48-year old New Zealander, Glenn Martin, has spent over 26 years developing a jetpack, and believes it may be ready for sale next year. The 250 lb (part of it rests on the ground at idle so you don't have to lift the weight), 200hp, twin-rotor (it's not actually a jetpack) beast produces 600 lbs of thrust and can be flown for over 30 minutes on a tank of gas. Is it safe? Who cares, I want to fly. And, maybe afterwards, learn to swim.
"People come up and go, 'Is it safe?' " Mr. Martin said. "Safety is a relative thing. We think we have done a lot to make this by far the safest jetpack ever built." But, he acknowledged, "It's not a high bar."He added, "I've got to get my head around the fact that at some point, somebody is going to have a very bad experience."
Well, at least he's being realistic. But seriously Glenn, I want to be that somebody.
Hit the link for a video of the thing and a way long article that was really long that I may or may not have read all of.
Apr 21 2008 Corolla Rocks NES Controller Engine Cover

This is a Corolla with a custom NES controller engine block cover. It looks good and I wish my piece of crap Metro had one. That would easily double the car's value. Now if entering the ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A Konami code gave you 30 gallons of free gas, then we'd really be talking.

Mar 12 2008 Gas Powered Blender Is Rocking Handlebars

This party blender is powered by a 23cc 4-stroke gas engine (which I assume was yanked from a yard-trimmer or leafblower or something) and costs about $300. The pitcher holds up to 48oz and is sure to destroy the hell out of whatever you put in (suck it Blendtec douche). Oh yeah, and it's got a sweet set of handlebars complete with twist throttle! And to think I've gone so long mixing my frozen drinks in an electric blender with no handlebars. God, I feel like such a little girl. And not just because I'm wearing a Hello Kitty training bra. Although that is part of it.

Thanks, as always, to Andrew for the gas-powered tip
Feb 6 2008 Jet Engine Cowling Reception Desk Is Sleek

This desk, brought to us by the same company that made last week's Ejector Seat Office Chair, is made from a real Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet Engine Cowling. The desk measures 100" in diameter and is sanded and polished to a beautiful shine. Not only that, but the secretary in the picture looks pretty hot. She certainly brings new meaning to the phrase "man I'd love to do that chick in the middle of a Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet engine cowling that has been turned into a desk" doesn't she? Yes, she does.
Jan 28 2008 V-12 Engine Made Entirely Out Of Paper

This V-12 four-stroke engine was constructed entirely out of paper -- 1,978 pieces to be exact. Weighing in at a little over 3 pounds, it certainly ranks as one of the lightest V-12s around. It also ranks as the one most likely to cause a serious paper cut. Perhaps the most amazing part of the whole thing is that it works -- producing a 13.5RPM crankshaft speed via 2 AA batteries. Over two years in the making it truly is a work of art. Well, it was until I filled it with gas and produced a spark. Then it was truly a fireball.
Several more pictures and a video of the action after the jump.
Jan 4 2008 Jet Engine Fire Extinguisher Does The Job

Some Hungarian engineers got together and built a fire extinguisher using two Mig-21 jet engines. It was specifically designed to extinguish pipeline and oil drilling fires. As you can see from the video (after the jump), it really makes fires wish they had never started. And it makes me wish I had two spare jet engines lying around. Not that I'd make a fire extinguisher, because I wouldn't. No, I'm building the world's fastest couch, and I think those are just what I need for a speed boost. Because right now my top speed is like, well, 0. It's a pretty slow couch, it just sits there.
Video of the thing in action after the inferno.

Dec 27 2007 Motorcycle Powered By 24 Chainsaw Engines

Some nutjob built a motorcycle powered by 24 chainsaw engines mated to a 5-speed Harley-Davidson gearbox. It goes pretty fast (see video after jump), makes a shit-ton of noise, and probably isn't real healthy for the environment. But eco-friendliness doesn't always come first when you've got your eyes on the douche prize. Which this guy wins for the week. He also wins the 'just because you can doesn't mean you should' award. Which I won last week for having sex with my girlfriend. I still can't get the image of that vast ocean of undulating flesh out of my brain. It's like I stared at the for sun too long but far, far worse.
Video under the cut.

Nov 9 2007 USB Engine Hub Makes 'Awesome' Noise
You may remember the SolidAlliance (maker of the infamous sushi flash-drives) USB Engine Hub from awhile ago, and now we've finally scored some video of that mother in action.
Based on the design of a Motorbike Engine, the USB Engine Hub, is a 2.0 3 port USB Hub which not only look nice but ALSO provides you with an amazing engine noise.
Now why didn't I think of that? That's exactly what my USB hub has been missing -- engine styling and "amazing" noise. Watch the video after the jump to see the sucker in action. I will admit it's cool, but I bet after awhile the noise becomes less "awesome" and more "annoying as shit".

Nov 6 2007 Drunk Driving: V8 Powered Barstools

Featured at SEMA 2007, these Hossfly V8 Barstools are exactly what they sound like. Unless you were thinking they were made from a tomato-based beverage that tastes like ass. If you were thinking that you were wrong. I'm talking engines here. I want one. Oh, and the steering wheel should have a cocktail table attachment for when you're parked. Just make sure to clear the table and stow it before taking off. Otherwise you'll have to explain to police why you were driving a barstool and cocktail table loaded with drinks down the sidewalk with no lights on. Which isn't easy.
A video of them in action after the jump, which allegedly doesn't give an accurate portrayal of the noise these things crank out.
