Nov 18 2009 R2-D2 Finally Spotted In New Star Trek Movie

Remember how you heard J.J. Abrams snuck R2-D2 somewhere in the new Star Trek movie? And remember how you kept going back to the theater with the hopes of spotting him? God, you need a hobby. I dunno, World of Warcraft or something. Anyway, thanks to the recent release of the film and newfangled slow-motion technology, the droid has been spotted.
The blog Gizmodo has located the brave droid's appearance, and frankly, it's no surprise that 99.999% of the world couldn't spot the "Star Wars" star. R2-D2 appears for about one microsecond during a battle scene. Floating across the screen from left to right, the droid appears to be enjoying himself, however briefly.
Well, there he is. Finally, we can all sleep at night. Together, in a big pile like in Where The Wild Things Are the one time they're all happy before Max proceeds to eff everything up. And speaking of which: you run away from my home and guess what -- there isn't going to be any chocolate cake waiting for you when you get back. There's gonna be a locked door. And maybe a belt so you can whip yourself if you're lucky.

Thanks to jessica, Matty and Lunarion, who spotted him the first time but didn't want to say anything because they didn't want to ruin it for the rest of you. Plus, they make great friends because they can keep secrets.

May 26 2009 Sneak Preview: The Third Generation Kindle?
This is a sneak preview of the 3rd generation Kindle robot book. It's pretty much exactly what I expect to see Amazon roll out next year. And speaking of rolling out -- transform! I said transform! *touching breast* Stupid mannequin.

Mar 31 2009 Netflix Announces Blu-ray Renting Costs

Yesterday Netflix announced its new cost structure for adding Blu-ray access to you account, just in case you were wondering. Basically, it costs $1 more than the number of discs you can have out at one time (if you're on the 3-at-a-time plan, adding Blu-ray costs $4 a month, for the 4-at-a-time, $5 a month, etc.). So there you have it. Of course, if you're looking to save money instead of spending it, you should do what I do and only rent from The Pirate Bay. And by rent I mean download. And by download I mean I heard they have porn. Which, *poker face* I don't know anything about.
Thanks to The Superficial Writer, who's still convinced HD DVD is gonna make a comeback.
Dec 29 2008 PEWtastic: Sweet Looking Wiimote-Gun Mod

Yep, somehow this WeeP5 is actually a fully functional Wiimote. Alternatively, a great way to miss a flight.
In case you're wondering: B button is the trigger, A button is under the foregrip, 1 and 2 are on opposite sides near the front, the D-pad and Wii remote are jutting out of the left side, and the +, -, and home buttons are on the top just above the ammo clip.
You'd think somebody with the technological savvy to mod an MP5-looking Wiimote would own a DVD player. I mean, Amélie on VHS? WTF! Seriously though, I loved the part where she led the blind man around.
Hit the jump for a much more questionable Wiimote-gun mod.

Dec 27 2007 Duplicate CD/DVDs Without A Computer

The DVD Coach is a stand-alone CD/DVD duplicator that needs no computer in order to function. It burns at 8x for DVDs and 16x for CDs (half that for RW). Not bad for the budding little DVD pirate. It has Lightscribe functionality, but must be connected to a PC for the graphics work. The only catch is the price, which is between $340 and $460. Which isn't even the worst thing I've ever heard. No, the worst thing I've ever heard is the name of the product -- DVD Coach. I hate coaches, too many bad memories. Particularly of 'ol Shortshorts McGrabass, my high school basketball coach. Whenever he wasn't trying to grab your ass he was trying to get the whole team to shower together. "Damn you smell like a bunch of rotten turds, now get in the shower -- and none of that soap-on-a-rope bullshit, you'll all use regular bars like real men." Then he'd strip down and get in the shower with us. And that, my friends, is when I learned to shove a shampoo bottle up my rear for protection.
Dec 11 2007 USB Business Cards May Be Coming Soon

The M++CARD is no ordinary business card. No sir, this thing has memory storage on the back, allowing a potential employer to attach a USB adapter and peruse all the information (resume, portfolio, etc.) stored on the little bastard. They're definitely slicker than the portfolio DVDs I was handing out to companies last year. Of course it didn't help I was giving out the wrong disks the whole time. Portfolio and Pornfolio really look similar when you're reaching into your briefcase for a DVD. Luckily the puffy-paint I used to decorate the tops made a lot of them unreadable.

Oct 15 2007 Remote Is Fragile, Will Break & Make You Sad

The Ceramic Remote Control, from designer Yuta Watanabe, is, you guessed it -- fragile! The idea is that since you can't just throw it down on the floor or table with gusto, that it will never get lost. You'll always set it down somewhere safe and easy to find. Interesting concept, but I'm sticking to my remote, which is a six foot pole with a chicken wing taped to the end. It never gets lost, and if I accidentally drop it over the side of the bed, the chicken wing attracts the dog, who picks it up for me. Not to brag, but it did win the "most delicious remote" award at a recent contest.

Sep 25 2007 Colorlight DVD Sets The Mood

Huge flatscreens are okay for watching movies and all, but who needs a movie when you can have slowly rotating colors? For $25 you can pick up the Color Light DVD from Charles & Marie, and then drive off a cliff for being stupid.
This DVD softly rotates through a series of wonderful colors in all sorts of hues and creates a wonderfully pleasant mood...If you fancy a particular color, you can simply pause the DVD there and savor hmmm maybe some soft green or a little hot pink - all depending on what your mood is like that moment...So, for the next cocktail eve you've got planned, you might want to throw on the telly for a little - mood enhancing...
Jesus, what in the hell is going on? A mood color DVD for cocktail eves? What the hell is a cocktail eve anyway? Is that when you go downtown and get so drunk you pee into the Golden Tee golf game? Because if so then I've hosted those before.

Aug 10 2007 Classic Game Room DVD Trailer
I assume you remember being glued to the computer waiting for a new episode of Game Room to drop, because I know I was. I can't believe that was eight years ago - where has all the time gone (besides to a handful of fruitless marriages)? Regardless, the show was a piece of awesome, and Classic Game Room the DVD is dropping August 28th rehashing all our favorite reviews. As they say, "If drinkin' beer and playing Atari is wrong, I don't want to be right." Truer words have never been spoken.
