Jun 24 2009 A Match Made In Plastic: A LEGO Proposal

We've all heard about LEGO themed proposals in the past (most of them choking hazards), but Ryan Wood went about it a little differently. Namely, by presenting his bride-to-be with a giant LEGO ring containing an actual engagement ring inside its clear diamond. Wow, how romantic (read: be thankful she said yes). Now, as a guy who has been married in the past -- and isn't in a relationship anymore, I've got to admit: ladies? Tip me. Literally -- I've been working hard for you!

Thanks to Julian and m0h, who proposed at the zoo right when a monkey was drinking its own urine. *swoon*
Feb 13 2009 Geeky Cars: I Can't (Floppy) Drive 55!

While this little gallery of cars undoubtedly showcases some seriously geeky automobiles, I don't know if they're the geekiest. I'd like to think the Zelda-mobile and the AeroCivic would be in the running for top prize. That said, I would still never be caught dead in one of these -- unless my bookie finally finds me. In which case, can a person harvest their own organs? Are ears worth anything?

Nov 30 2008 "Stack The Memory": A Nerdy Rap Song
"Stack the Memory" by the Sniper Twins is a geeky rap song about computers. I thought it was pretty humorous, and definitely worth a watch. The video was very well made too. And I'm not just saying that because the twins called to tell me they've got my dome lined up in their crosshairs even as I type. But they totally do so please call the authorities. And tell them to bring extra pants. Oooh, and nachos -- my tummy's rumbling.

Thanks to Dax, one of the twins, for threatening to kill me.
Nov 14 2008 Kami Kami Bite Counter Helps Ensure Proper Chewing. OMG, I Wore Headgear As A Child

It's weird the things you block out from your childhood. Like wearing headgear or touching a friend's penis. The Kami Kami Sensor counts how many bites a child makes (to ensure proper chewing), and beeps to notify every 30 and 1,000 bites. It's available now for $189 and I just bought one. Finally, a definitive answer to how many licks it takes to get the the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop! One, two, three *CRUNCH*. Three! And two chipped teeth. Oh shit, and a cavity.

Oct 31 2008 Eff It, I'm Going As A Dork: iPhone Costumes

While The Superficial Writer has been doing his patriotic duty posting hot celebrities in their Halloween costumes, I get stuck with a bunch of goofballs dressed as iPhones. What the f***. Anyway, I like the dog one. All the others suck, except for maybe the baby seat one. That one was cute. Seriously though, I see you dressed like an iPhone tonight, and I'm pushing your buttons. Figuratively. And, since it is Halloween, literally too. *BEEP BOOP BEEP BOOP BEEP* I'm calling your mom!

Sep 22 2008 DIY: Your Own Sweet Laser Tag Setup

Let's face it, no other sport has as high a PEW PEW PEW factor as good old fashioned laser tag. Unfortunately, a quality rig is pretty expensive. So what's a boy to do? Simple, make your own.
This homebrew LaserTag game uses a cheap laser pointer combined with a toy gun and a PIC16F628A microcontroller that connects up to a piezo transducer which is used for producing various beeps. The 5 pin header plug at the bottom of the device is used to connect to a programmer for in-circuit programming.
As cool as this system looks, there's just no way it compares to the feeling you get when braining an opponent with a Mag-lite.

Sep 5 2008 Sure, Why Not?: The Enter Doorbell

The Enterbell is just that, an Enter key doorbell. Pretty straightforward. No ess curves required to understand this one. Unfortunately, it's currently only a concept created by Li Jianye. Wait a minute -- a concept? How hard is it to glue an Enter key to a regular freaking doorbell? Not very if you don't glue your hand down your pants first (I'm typing one-handed). Seriously though, if you want an Enter doorbell, don't wait for Li, just yank a key of your choice off a coworker's keyboard and glue that puppy on. Enter key alternatives include 'Home' and 'Insert'. Or, if you're not into the whole technology thing, you could just hang a sweet knocker. Knock knock. Who's there? Enter. Enter who? Me from behind, I'm feeling kinky!

Jun 2 2008 Geek Side Is The Best Side: Geek Gang Signs

Here are some geek gang signs that some nerds came up with when they were working on a secret handshake. As you can see, they're pretty questionable. But not nearly as questionable as the leftover red beans and rice I just had for lunch. Half the beans jumped out of the bowl and tried to stab me with my own fork while the rice just sat there and watched. Long story short: I had to go hungry, which sucks because all I had for breakfast were two hits of paper and four bonghits.

Thanks Shawn, now lets come up with a super-sweet Geekologie handshake. Got any ideas?
Mar 10 2008 Geek Bling: Periodic Rings Are Elemental

These Periodic Rings from ITSNONAME (wtf?) are available in silver, gold, and platinum. Each features the corresponding metal's atomic number and weight and come in sizes 7, 8 and 9. Silver will set you back a paltry $205, gold (14K yellow) a staggering $2,200, and the platinum a holy shitting $6,500. Now I can think of a lot better ways to blow $6,500, and none of them include periodic table themed jewelry. Although one does include a drive across country with a one-legged hooker and a trunk full of drugs. Wait, that was a movie idea. No, no it wasn't. That is how I'd spend $6,500.
Two more pictures after the jump, including one of what it'd look like to get punched.
