Nov 6 2009 Impressive: Hasbro Star Wars Diorama Contest

Unbeknownst to me Hasbro has been holding a Star Wars diorama contest. This is a sample of one of the finalists titled 'Captain Solo Awaits His Fate in the Carbon Freezing Chamber'. I would have gone with 'Hey, You Said This Place Was a Strip Club', but whatever. Hit the jump to see the rest of Han getting frozen and the four other finalists. Then, go vote if you want to. Or don't, it's no skin off my back. But I do wish it was the skin off my pudding, because I can't stand that shit. WHICH IS WHY I NORMALLY STICK TO SNACK PACKS. *ahem* Mom.
Hit the jump for a bunch more diorama.

Dec 23 2008 60,000 Piece LEGO Hoth Battle Diorama

Sorry for the unusual lack of postage in the past few days, folks. I've been traveling my ass off (read: cover up for male enhancement surgery) and had to post via message in a bottle. But I'm back and ready to Geek the ologie. Look out! Anyway, Mark Borlase went and built himself a wicked Hoth battle diorama out of 60,000 LEGO blocks. Sure most of those are contained in the massive cave, but still, damn.
As the headline says, the 5′X10′ diorama is comprised of 60,000 Lego bricks. It cost creator Mark Borlase about $3,000 and four years of construction time to complete.
There's also the 50 LED lights that illuminate the Echo Base hangar and bacta tank with a soothing blue. Motorized AT-AT wenches and a fully operational hanger door top off this gorgeous pile of eye candy.
Four years of construction! The freaking Egyptian pyramids were built in less time (note to self: verify this). Seriously though, Mark, great freaking job. Mind if I come over and PEW PEW with the diorama a bit? Oh come on, I'll bring cookies. Laced cookies. Haha -- you got me, they're just doilies.

Sep 24 2008 Wicked LEGO Star Wars Diorama

Flickr user roguebantha_1138 made this wicked LEGO Star Wars diarrhea.
Welcome to Mustaneer! (it's not as distant as Mustafar) Basically it's a Rebel attack on an Imperial base and mining installation. About a year in the making, on and off, it is 75 by 125cm and all built in 1:200 scale. I've taken LOADS of pictures (OK, I've taken too many) but I've tried to write something interesting with each, so if you have a bit of spare time join me on a journey to a galaxy far far away....
Hey, I've got some spare time AND I love journeys. Great selection, got my last pair of kicks there.
Hit it for a few more and a link to the massive gallery.
Jun 20 2008 LEGO Star Wars Diorama Is Legit, 3,800 Pieces, $400, Now On My Birthday List

The $400 Death Star diorama from LEGO weighs in at a whopping 3,800 pieces and is making me hotter than a volcano. A volcano on fire. The thing depicts 14 scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy and comes with 21 mini-figs, including 7 exclusive to the set. Wow, what could be awesomer? I mean besides a LEGO Death Star big enough to live in. Because that's what I freaking want. Like my dad always says, "Dream big or don't bother sleeping. Oh, and son -- keep your buttcheeks clenched tight -- aliens."
Hit the jump for a picture of all the mini-figs and the entire product description.

Feb 5 2008 LEGO Bible: The Brick Testament

Apparently The Brick Testament has been a work in progress for over six years, but I'd never been made aware of its existence before, so here it is. With over 3,600 scenes from the Bible, all the classics are illustrated in awesome LEGO detail. I looked through a bunch of them and was pretty impressed with the work. I tried to find the one where the Twelve Apostles were throwing a party but forgot the booze and Jesus had to turn Peter's swimming pool into Jello shooters, but I guess they haven't done that one yet.
A bunch more pictures and a link to the whole gallery after the walk on water.
Jan 7 2008 LEGO Beowulf Dioramas: Lots Of LEGO Blood

Brickshelfer MicahBerger made some pretty good looking Beowulf dioramas featuring gratuitous blood and violence, which, as we all know, is mandatory for a good LEGO diorama. They're appropriately titled "Then came Grendal...He bore God's wrath". And based on the look of these things, there is definitely being some wrath being bored. So it's a good name. You know what else is a good name? La Deda Dingdong, which is actually the name of one of my dog's grandmothers. If you think I'm lying you're wrong. I only lie to my wife. And only about stuff that doesn't matter, like what happened to her engagement ring (I pawned it for $2,000 in ones to spend at a strip joint).
Check out several different pics of the carnage after the jump, and follow the Brickshelf link at the bottom for the whole gallery.
