Nov 4 2009 The Colorblind Clock Is A Little Discriminatory

Because the colorblind aren't real people and certainly don't deserve to know what time it is, design company sonodesign is selling 'the clock i can't see'. The clock I can't see is a £35 ($58) wall clock designed to put the colorblind in their place and make them miss appointments.
Take a closer look and you will see numbers (12, 3, 6 and 9) hidden in amongst the spots. This clock is made of double thickness high quality acrylic and will hang on a standard picture hook.
Oh really? Well if you take a closer look at my fist you'll see stars. KA-POW! Neat, huh? While you recover, anybody can still read this clock provided you know where the numbers typically are (placement is pretty standard). So yeah, you may have won this battle, The Colorblind, but wait till they let me design prescription pills. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Hit the jump for two more shots including a close-up of the numbers.

Jul 16 2009 Cosby Shots: Bill Cosby Portrait In Jell-O

To celebrate Bill Cosby's birthday on July 12th, artist Andrew Salamone made a portrait of the comedian using Jell-O shots. Which, I think we can all agree, is a fitting tribute. Does he still do those commercials? Damn, now I want a Jell-O Pudding Pop. Do they still make those? Okay, so maybe I have been down in this robot shelter too long. I kid, I kid -- now somebody bring me some new cassettes to play.
Hit the jump for a couple more shots and a video of the portrait's transformation over the course of a night.

Apr 6 2009 Taste The Rainbow With A Rainbow Cake!

Want to make a rainbow cake to celebrate Easter or being gay? Do it up -- but I get to lick the spatula when you're finished. And by "the" I mean "your". Just sayin', I'm cool pitching for both teams. And when I say "pitching", I obviously mean "catching". I talk in code! Now, throw me a fastball, champ, I'm late for work.
Hit the jump for several more of the awesomeness and a link to the recipe.
Mar 20 2009 A Periodic Table Of Final Fantasy Characters

Loyal Geekologie Reader Rafi, inspired by all of the recent periodic tables featured, decided to make his own -- of Final Fantasy characters (full-size version HERE)! WHOOWEEWHOOOOO!
In this table you'll find the atomic numbers and symbols, as well as:* Characters from Final Fantasy I through the upcoming XIII
* Heroes, villains, monsters, and summons from throughout the series
* Minor characters as well (because it was a stretch to match some symbols)
Impressive work, Rafi. Lots of familiar looking faces in the bunch. Now somebody make a periodic table of Geekologie and we'll be all set....for HYPERDYPER-DRIVE! VAVAVA ARRRARAAROOOOOOMM!! SPPPSSSHOOOWW!! *SPACESHIP SOUNDS* BEEPITY BOP BEEEPITY POW POW *sputter* SSSHOOOOOOOM!*

Feb 13 2009 Geeky Cars: I Can't (Floppy) Drive 55!

While this little gallery of cars undoubtedly showcases some seriously geeky automobiles, I don't know if they're the geekiest. I'd like to think the Zelda-mobile and the AeroCivic would be in the running for top prize. That said, I would still never be caught dead in one of these -- unless my bookie finally finds me. In which case, can a person harvest their own organs? Are ears worth anything?

Dec 19 2008 Ho Ho Ho, Happy Holidays From Geekologie

Julian Beever is a sidewalk artist that specializes in realistic 3-D renderings when viewed from a particular viewpoint. This is one such piece, and Christmas themed to boot. Who knew Santa lived in a secret underground lair beneath a mail receptacle? That's some serious DangerMouse shit right there. And, based on the expression on Santa's face, I'd say somebody just asked for ass beads.
Nov 17 2008 Change The Color Of Your Glasses With Ink

The RGB Glasses from designer Luís Porém are hollow and made to be filled with the ink color of your choice. Want black glasses? Add black ink! Want pink glasses? Add pink ink! Want tortoiseshell glasses? Add brown, orange, and black ink! Want to frighten everyone you pass? Add the blood of your fallen enemies and smile while you gnaw on a raw arm.
Hit the jump for a couple more.

Nov 10 2008 World's Largest Piñata Sadly Not Filled With Thousands Of Airplane Bottles (BOOO!)

The world's largest piñata was recently constructed and displayed in Philadephia, PA as part of a publicity stunt and commercial for Carnival Cruise Lines. "The donkey was 28.5 meters (94′) long, 7.2 meters (24′) wide and 18 (60′) meters tall and fill with 3,628 lbs of candy. (8,000lbs)." Carnival got the crowd riled up by promising to bust the monster ass open with a giant wrecking ball, but never did. Which is pretty freaking disappointing. And you know what else is? That it wasn't filled with cars. Lamest. Fiesta. Ever.

Aug 7 2008 Luxeed Colorful Keyboards Now Available

We heard about the Luxeed Dyamic Keyboard a year ago, and now the rainbow peripherals are finally available, for $200. You can choose between a black model on which only the letters are illuminated, or a white one that has the entire keys light up. Every board has 430 LEDs and you can program each individual key's color and make lighting animations. Sure, you could use the thing for Photoshop shortcuts or colored gaming keys, but let's be honest -- this board is strictly for showing off. I mean, who doesn't want to be the first in the office with a rainbow keyboard? Unfortunately, it looks like The Superficial Writer beat me to it. Hey buddy, see you got the Luxeed, very cool. And....pink. Ha -- now that you mention it, it does match your skirt. And....dude are you wearing makeup?
Hit the jump for a video of the board in action.

Jun 11 2008 HP's New Monitor Rocks Out With Its Color Out, Can Produce Over A Billion Of Them

The HP DreamColor LP2480xz is a 24-inch LED backlit monitor that can display over a billion colors (~64x what a typical LCD monitor can do). Unfortunately they cost $3,499. But if you're an artist or someone who really values accurate color display, maybe it's the monitor for you. And speaking of art, I bet this thing can display the hell out of some porno. Am I right? Hells yeah. *high fives* This old CRT can't replicate a natural nipple hue to save it's tube. Nipples aside though, vagina. Bet it looks good on that thing.
Hit the jump for another questionable comparison vs. regular LCD and a couple other product shots.
Apr 17 2008 I Want: Dangerous House Keeps You Young

The Lifespan Extending Villa is a house designed by artists Madeline Gins (!) and Arakawa. It was built in East Hampton, and cost about $2 million to complete. It looks like a giant playground, and I want it. The idea is that constantly being on guard against falling serves as a secret fountain of youth.
In addition to the floor, which threatens to send the un-sure-footed hurtling into the sunken kitchen at the center of the house, the design features walls painted, somewhat disorientingly, in about 40 colors; multiple levels meant to induce the sensation of being in two spaces at once; windows at varying heights; oddly angled light switches and outlets; and an open flow of traffic, unhindered by interior doors or their adjunct, privacy.
All of it is meant to keep the occupants on guard. Comfort, the thinking goes, is a precursor to death; the house is meant to lead its users into a perpetually "tentative" relationship with their surroundings, and thereby keep them young.
Man that is so awesome. I've always wanted to live in a treehouse with rope swings and cargo nets and all that good shit, so this is definitely a step in the right direction. Besides, the house makes you live longer. You just trip over a floor nipple, beat your face into something hard, and presto, you're freaking Methuselah. Simple as that.
Hit the jump for several more pictures of the wackiness, including one of James trying to escape the giant peach.

Apr 7 2008 3-D LED Cubes Are Out Of This World, Not Literally Though, They're Not Alien Or Anything

This 3-D LED cube was made by Chinese manufacturer Seekway and features a 16 x 16 x 16 grid of lights for a total of 4,096. That's a good amount. "The system is capable of displaying animations at up to 30 frames per second and each dot can be individually addressed for both color and intensity." There's a video of the cube in action after the jump, and I suggest you watch it and just vibe out for a little bit. You deserve it. If the boss comes by and asks why you're watching Youtube videos on the clock you just look him/her dead in the eye and tell them it's not Youtube, it's some computer virus you got when you were downloading porno. Works every time.
Video after the jump.
Mar 14 2008 Wind-Up Robot Dances Better Than I Do

This cute little wind-up robot dances better than I do and costs about $10.50. You just wind him up and away he goes, breaking it down with moves that make me jealous. How could he not brighten up your mood? I think it's just the thing I need to add some flair to my cubicle and make me laugh while the boss is busy pissing all over me. Which, until recently, he used to only do figuratively.
Cutsie wootsie video of him pumpin' up his jam on the dance floor after the jump.
