Sep 3 2009 How To Rob An Apple Store In 31 Seconds

Just like this. IN 31 seconds the thieves made off with 23 Macbook Pro's, 14 iPhones and 9 iPod Touch. Wow. And did anybody else find it annoying how the reporter was speaking during the video? "Watch again as the thieves show skilled practice at bringing down that plate glass door. And savvy enough to wear masks knowing there would be surveillance cameras ALL OVER THE PLACE." Skilled practice, really? THEY THREW A BRICK THROUGH A GLASS DOOR. "Savvy enough to wear masks"? Jesus, it's not like they trained pigeons to rob the store, they tied bandannas around their faces and this guy thinks they're criminal masterminds.

Thanks to Greg, Gino, Sarah and The Superficial Writer, who could have done it in 29 seconds AND snagged a couple iPhone cases.

Aug 28 2009 I Could Do Better: LEGO House Construction

lego-2.jpg

Remember the story about the house in Britain that would be constructed entirely out of LEGO blocks? Well this is it, mid-construction. I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed that it has a wooden infrastructure. I thought the whole damn thing was gonna be LEGO, right down to the john.

This two-story Lego palace, which resides in the middle of a vineyard, sports a working bathroom, and is covered inside and out with bricks pieced together by 272 Legos. Over three million bricks were used to build the Lego pad, so doing some quick math here -- that's over 816 million Lego pieces!

I have no idea whether the math in that quote I used is correct or not, the important thing is that it's Friday and I am putting pants on for the first time this week and getting the hell out of here. Town, prepare to be painted red! With vomit. I like fruity drinks!

Thanks to jessica and Rogefgv, who once built a house of K-Nex but it was blown down by the big bad wolf and then he ate them. The end.

Jul 29 2009 I NEED One: Gas Powered Vortex Cannon

We've allegedly seen the world's largest vortex cannon before, but that thing doesn't hold a match to the power of this sucker, featured on the BBC's Bang Goes The Theory. The goal was to use this cannon to recreate the big bad wolf's huffing and puffing from Three Little Pigs. Now I don't want to ruin it for you, so just watch. Then, you and I are building one and robbing a bank. I've always wanted to wear a ski mask!

Thanks to Ross and James, who'll huff and puff and then use dynamite.

May 2 2009 DO NOT WANT: Worst MacBook Pro Ever

worst macbook ever.jpg

Ryan went to Best Buy to buy a MacBook Pro. And he did. Or so he thought. Then he brought it home and realized it was a brick. A real brick! Still, it's a step up from rocks.

When I got home I opened the box and found a paving stone packed with bubble wrap, instead of the Macbook Pro. I returned to the store and the manager, "Keith", was not too willing to help me out. He kept falling back on the line "Apple seals the boxes, not us. Take it up with Apple."

I have sent an email to Best Buy corporate and have contacted my credit card company. Unfortunately, they can't do anything until the charge posts. So right now, I paid $2164.89 for a very nice red brick.

ZOMG, I've burnt stores to the ground for less. Like that drug store that was out of Magnums. Okay, that never happened. But if it did....

I wouldn't know what to do with all that penis!

Thanks to Jeremy, who thought he was buying a cinder block but it turned out to be a Ferrari. You lucky dog!

Mar 10 2009 Remains Of Vampire Woman Found In Grave

vampire woman 1.jpg

What is being hailed by some as the world's first vampire remains have been discovered in a mass grave in Venice, Italy. The woman (who I suspect was a vampire-witch hybrid) was buried with a brick wedged in her mouth, which apparently has some link to being to vampiracy.

During the Middle Ages, many believed that the plague, or "Black Death," was caused by "vampires" chewing on their shrouds after death. According to Borrini, grave-diggers put bricks in the mouths of suspected vampires to stop them from spreading the disease this way.

Borrini, of the University of Florence in Italy, says that the partial corpse he exhumed offers the earliest "exorcism evidence against vampires" to have been forensically examined.

Interesting -- so vampires are buried with stuff in their mouths? Because one time my buddy Jimmy Jimmereeno and I found a naked dead man under a bridge with his own penis stuffed in his mouth. He didn't look like like a vampire though -- he looked Italian.

Hit the jump for another picture of how the skeleton was found.

Feb 4 2008 Gameboy Bricks Are What They Sound Like

brick-comparison.jpg

Some guy in the Netherlands is making Gameboy shaped bricks. They're bricks that look like Gameboys but can't play Tetris. He's charging €31.30 (~$46) per brick with worldwide shipping included. $46!? You could pave your sidewalk with real Gameboys for cheaper. There's a picture of some glazed ones after the jump, but he doesn't sell them that way -- you have to do it yourself. Just make sure to not to drink any of the glaze if it's lead-based. I know what you're thinking -- who the hell would drink glaze anyways? And the answer to that, my friends, is me.

A picture of some glazed ones, along with a Gameboy sidwalk, after the jump.

Dec 4 2007 Old School Brick Phone Back In Miniature

retro-phone.jpg

The Mini-MOB Mobile Phone is a new take on the popular (read: only) models of yesteryear. The thing looks like a damn brick, but is tiny at only 11 cm by 3.5 cm. Unfortunately the thing is currently only available in Europe and costs freaking $350! I do like it though -- it really takes me back to the first cell phone I ever owned. That thing was sweet. It had all the latest in technology too, like the ability to make and receive calls. Shit, I think it even showed the number that was calling!
