These 6" x 12" x 7.5" hand painted Trash Compactor Bookends are available for pre-order (shipping April 2010) from the Star Wars Store for $190. And for those of you that don't do math good, that's almost $100 per side. And speaking of sides, seriously, you have to choose one. It's either me or him. WHAT DO YOU MEAN, 'HIM'?! You're dead to me.

Dec 3 2008 Platzhalter Bookshelf Has Room To Grow

The Platzhalter bookself expands in the middle as your literary collection does so you've got room to store all those delicious pages. Of course, you could just buy a bigger bookshelf. Or another one. Still, a clever idea, I'll give them that. And also, extra points for it turning into a giant V. And speaking of giant V's....I should probably just quit now while I'm ahead.
Aug 1 2008 Rowling Fans Rejoice: Collector's Editions Of The Tales Of Beedle The Bard At Amazon

That's right all you Rowling/Potter fanboys, it's time to get excited. The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a $4 million book handmade by the sorceress herself, is being made into an accurate reproduction collector's edition. It'll cost $100 and be available on December 4th. So what do you get for your Benjamin?
Collector's Edition Product Features:
• All five fairy tales from the original The Tales of Beedle the Bard
• Outer case disguised as a wizarding textbook from the Hogwarts library
• Exclusive reproduction of J.K. Rowling's handwritten introduction
• 10 new illustrations by J.K. Rowling not included in the Standard Edition or the original handcrafted edition
• Velvet bag embroidered with J.K. Rowling's signature
• Metal skull, corners, and clasp
• Replica gemstones
• Emerald ribbon
• Net proceeds from the Collector's Edition and the Standard Edition support the Children's High Level Group, an organization that benefits children living in residential institutions.
Of course, if you don't want to dish out two day's pay for the thing (despite the good cause), you can get a trade paperback the same day for $7.59. Which, based on my limited mathematical abilities, is still more than I pay for a haircut. Because I shave it myself -- nuts too!

Thanks Jennifer, can you teach me some magic spells?
Mar 26 2008 Tetrad Shelving Looks Good, Tetrisy

These Tetrad Shelves are made by Brave Space Design in Brooklyn, NY. They come in a variety of different options and are built using environmentally sustainable resources. Unfortunately they will deplete your financial resources if you want some. You have to contact them for the price of one like in the picture, but if you hit the jump and see the colored set, those go for $1,500 per 10 blocks. So, yeah, you might want to try making your own. I just hope you're a better carpenter than I am, because I had to cease construction and seek medical attention after nailing my hand to my junk.

Feb 21 2008 Elastic Bookshelf Is Simple And Stretchy

Despite Steve Job's accusation that "people don't read anymore", I still do. Today it was the back of a cereal box, yesterday it was a nudey magazine I found under my roommate's bed. Being such an avid reader, I need a good place to store all my literature. Enter the Elastic Bookshelf. Designed by Arianna Vivenzio, the form fitting shelf consists of an elastic band stretched over two pegs. I love it, so simple. Just make sure to hit studs when you're putting up the pegs or the bookshelf will transform into all your shit on the floor.
