Jun 9 2009 Will Future Ovens Cook With Lasers? (Yes)

Electrolux just ran another one of their harebrained design competitions and this laser-powered oven created by Ludovic Peperstaete was one of the featured designs. It cooks with pews!
Instead of heating elements or an open flame, food is cooked via 3 harmless lasers that are targeted by the cook. And while a single laser supposedly isn't strong enough to cook food, we all know that crossing two lasers can cook anything from a Thanksgiving turkey to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
I, for one, welcome our pew pew oven overlords. Now, bake me a cake! What do you mean, "there's already a bun in the oven"? I thought we did it in the broiler. WELL THEY'RE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER -- HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW?!
Could A Laser Oven Be In Our Future? Pew Pew! [ohgizmo]
Thanks to Damian, who cooks his meals the old fashioned way: by leaving it to a woman.
May 3 2007 Mod a toaster for toaster art

Instructables has a little tutorial on how to make your own toaster art. Basically just cut out aluminum or stainless steel designs and attach it to your toaster. Ta daa! Or try my method: take a permanent marker and draw on your bread. It doesn't taste as good, but it, well, also doesn't look as good. So there.
Mar 9 2007 Swarovski Studded Refrigerator

Gorenje has put together this Swarovski crystal studded refrigerator in black or aluminum. Because really, who doesn't need their fridge covered in Swarovski crystals? Anything less would be an insult to your week-old pizza. And besides, what else are you gonna spend that money on? Bills? Food? You might as well be flushing it down the toilet!
Some more shots of the fridge after the jump.
Feb 19 2007 Toast skulls onto your bread

Need skulls toasted onto your bread? If you answered 'no' then you're an idiot. Everybody needs skulls toasted onto their bread. Not only does it look cool, it also makes it taste better. And that's a scientific fact. I can't read the site but you can get this bad boy for 32.95 Euros. Which, if my math is still up to par, is roughly 100 gajillion dollars.
Jan 26 2007 Ultrason Toaster is see-through toaster

This toaster uses Ultrason plastic which is heat-resistant up to 220 degrees celsius and is shatter-proof, scratch and impact-resistant, and is not damaged by hot water, steam, or chemicals. The toaster is open and transparent to allow you to see all the toasting magic that happens when you toast. Which isn't really magic. More of a, uh, toasting action.
