Holy crap somebody went and made the gun from Portal. I have absolutely no shame in telling you all I am going to steal the device, and then use it to rob a bank and escape the po-po.
Developed by Aperture Science, this Handheld Portal Device is an extremely limited edition (dare I say, one of a kind?) portal generator. Illuminated with blue ad orange LEDs, the entire gun runs off of only one 9V battery and needs no ammunition.

Made with geeky love from .100" thick reclaimed aluminum. It measures 1.25" x 1.25" (about 3cm x 3cm). The surface has a brushed finish that will wear over time. It's attached to a clip style key holder with a flexible metal cord. End to end it's almost 4".
Perfect for the Portal lover on your gift list, the little cubes make a great stocking stuffer. And you know what else does? Those sexy legs of yours. Ooo la la!

Oct 29 2008 Halloweenie: The Compumpkin Cube
The Compumpkin Cube cake is the lovechild of a companion cube and Jack the Pumpkin King. You can tell because, instead of the little hearts in the center of each side, it has testicular looking pumpkins instead.
First of all, the bottom tier is Chocolate Devil's Food cake and the top tier is Triple Vanilla.
The cube itself is about 8.5" in every dimension before all the bits and bobs were put on. And we made sure it was exactly the same measurement on each side. After buttercreaming it, we put 20 fondant squares (4 to each side) that were painted with moonstone lustre dust. The we put the orange tubing in (which really glowed! It made this cake that much more awesome, plus delivering it at night was fantastic, I kept giggling to myself every time I saw it in my car glowing).
Mmmm, glowing orange tubing and moonstone lustre dust. That, my friends, makes for a great tasting cake. Albeit a cancerous one.

May 7 2008 Portal Inspired Beer Stein Is Making Me Thirsty
This is a Portal inspired beer stein. It costs $15 and was created by a guy named Marc who really liked the game and even sleeps with a companion cube at night and everything. As you can see in the picture, beer is being poured from a tap, entering a blue portal, and then exiting the red portal and filling up a stein. Nothing fancy, just nice and simple. Now before you go off on a tangent about how your penis could make something better, it hasn't, so, yeah. But if it ever does, send it to me and I'll post it. Anyway, I bought one of these to replace my Garfield "I'm not a morning person" coffee mug at work. Except I'm not gonna drink coffee out of it -- I'm gonna drink beer! Sometimes liquor. And if a coworker questions why I smell like the juice I'm gonna stick my foot up the portal to their large intestines*.
*Their b-hole.
Apr 30 2008 Portal Technology Makes For Neat Video
Remember Portal, the sweet little game that came with The Orange Box? Yeah, I heart my companion cube too. Well, using the technological basis of the game, a company has made a video demonstration of what portals would look like in the real world (and yes, it's better than the see-through display video).
Created by EmmanuelMFr of France's Total Immersion, the illusions in the video really are reminiscent of those in the game. Using his company's D'FUSION software, he was able to swap the images on each virtual screen surface in real time, including full 3-dimensional transformations.
Okay now that video left me pretty confused, but I think what they're getting at is how awesome it would be to grab a beer from the fridge without leaving the couch. And I think we can all agree that would be Nobel Prize worthy. Hell, if I could grab beer from the grocery store (and not pay) without leaving the couch, I'd nominate that shit for a Pulitzer.

Jan 21 2008 Weighted Companion Case Mod Looks Good
Someone went and made a Companion Cube computer case from Portal. It looks good and is small (20cm). It's used as a web browsing and music computer, so there isn't anything too fancy on the inside. Unlike the doughnuts I had for breakfast, which were chock full of fanciness. And by fanciness I mean Bavarian cream.
