So Whimsical: Bridge Suspended From Helium Balloons

floating-bridge-1.jpg

This is Pont de Singe, an installation art piece by Olivier Grossetête. It consists of a little bridge being suspended over a pond by helium balloons. It's not actually functional though, you'd wind up in the drink if you tried to cross it. Unless -- UNLESS -- you're a cat. Are you a cat? "Meow." I knew it! *petting* Such a pwetty, pwetty kitty! "I'm not actually a cat, GW." Well this is embarrassing. FOR YOU. What kind of sicko pretends to be a cat just so I'll pet them? If I catch you licking yourself you're going outside.

Hit the jump for a couple more pictures.

This is a woman cosplaying as the house from 'Up'. Although truthfully, I don't really think that was artist Myeongbeom Kim's intention when he designed the piece. That's just my interpretation and it is the RIGHT interpretation. Art is whatever you want it to be and I want... / Continue →

Note: Video is after the jump. To celebrate the recent release of Little Big Planet 2 (which I'm triple-fisting alongside Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and a PB&J), a group of fans went and created a level in real life using a couple stuffed Sackboys and a shit-ton of constru... / Continue →

as far as art goes, I get what he's trying to accomplish...but what a half assed effort. The ends of the bridge aren't connected to land, it's like he TRIED to simulate a bridge, but it didnt' work out and just said "Fuck it, just take some pictures before the thing sinks completely"

It would be pretty cool if it had enough balloons to be weight bearing and was, you know, attached to something. Maybe someone else will do it properly.

First problem is the bridge seems to come out of the water and go back into the water. Even if it stayed up you would be walking though the pond to get on the bridge.

I'd place bait at the middle of the bridge, then shoot the balloons when an animal goes for it
    ...... just sayin

Im sorry but that is 1 ugly, unstable, uneven, non-load bearing bridge... but its art

  • for someone with the username "Lee Tan", it's ugly, unstable, uneven, and non-load bearing... but I guess you can call it art...

I think he's saying you should be better looking, flatter, and bear heavy loads.
