GPS Enables Shoes Light The Way To Your Destination

October 3, 2012 / clever, cute, directions, feet are what you stand on, gps, i like, i'm great at getting lost (and even greater at getting drunk where ever i end up), keep up the good work, light-up, now make a ruby slipper pair!, shoes, show me the way!, sure why not, thank god for good directions and turnip greens, this or a smartphone -- either way you're gonna wind up walking into a lightpole

This is a pair of GPS enabled shoes that light the way to your predetermined destination. The toe of the left shoe lights up which direction you need to head in, and the right toe what percentage of your journey is left. They were created by Dominic Wilcox, who calls them No Place Like Home. That's a Wizard of Oz reference. Plus you have to tap the heels together to turn them on. That makes TWO Wizard of Oz references! Can we make it three? "If you only had a brain." WHAT THE F*** IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?

  • Believe it or not, the concept has an application for the elderly. Those who qualify under the Diabetic Shoe Act and have dementia can have the shoes made with a GPS device so that if they wander, the shoes give guidance back home. Another version will eventually have a tracking system in them.

    I guess with all the compasses, maps, smartphones, sundials and moss growing on the north side of a tree, I am not surprised that everyone up to this point in time was lost in their daily travel and obviously needed GPS shoes to successfully get them to their destinations.
