$682-Million: The Real Cost Of Being Batman (Allegedly)

cost-of-batman-cut.jpg

Note: This isn't the whole graphic, only the part about his body gear, you'll have to hit the jump to see the whole thing (including vehicles, residence, etc.).

There was an article circulating last week about the cost of being Batman, but it was stupid and only included the cost of his Batsuit. You can read that one HERE if you want to, but I don't recommend it. This one is better because 1. it's not even an article, it's just a picture and 2. it includes the really expensive stuff (apparently Batcave prices are through the roof) it would take to become Batman. Unfortunately, they still failed to include the most costly aspect of becoming the Dark Knight: losing your parents as a child. You can't put a price tag on that.

Hit the jump for the whole graphic provided I didn't accidentally upload a picture of my dog.

Thanks to Spenkadink and Shane (who either made the graphic or had something to do with it, so feel free to direct your anger at him if you feel something's inaccurate), who agree the true cost of being Batman is keeping the secret. It's hard. Like, even harder than not telling somebody what you got them for their birthday.

Unfortunately, they still failed to include the most costly aspect of becoming the Dark Knight: losing your parents as a child. You can't put a price tag on that.... for everything else though, there's MasterCard!

  • satya amin

what about that fox guys salary?

  • I want it !!! =D

  • Adonos

This is what i dont like the movies. I guess Batman some random guy in a Bat-mech, right? Wheres the skill? Wheres Batman?

They even introduced a cop character so Batman (worlds greatest detective) wouldnt be seen doing detective work in his own movie...

  • $50,000 for a laser microphone!? You can made me with a fairly good range and quality for about £30. This is fake and gay.

  • Jadis

    "groin armor" LOL

The first issue I noticed is they counted the batpod as separate from the tumbler in the overall price, when it is part of the tumbler.

  • obloodyhell

I think it was added to the tumbler -- it can't have been in the original, since it clearly has no purpose in the context of what the tumbler was built for, which was to bridge rivers during combat.

So it's reasonable to part-out its development costs and build expenses.

  • I made myself some batarangs by hand like he did in Batman Begins.- I typed as a comment when I suddenly realised I am rich as hell! I'm gonna keep on making batarangs for the rest of my life!

  • That's just money. The real cost of being Batman is dead parents.

  • Nobody mentioned that his suit is $300,000 and not $3,000

  • obloodyhell

Yeah, that's the express price in BB. And it's likely to have gone up as he's no doubt made substantial personal experience upgrades.

  • roark1

Crime don't pay - BS - Fighting Crime will put you in the poor house.

  • dougfunnay

why do all variations of the batarang have the same price?
why dont the vehicles include developement costs?
i thought they said in the movie the body armor cost was $300k? (luscious said something like the military didnt think a soldiers life was worth $300k)
and i like how moneysupermarket.com lists their sources as "research carried out by moneysupermarket.com" .....seems legit

this is pretty retarded and im fairly certain moneysupermarket.com just put this out to get free advertising

  • obloodyhell

Umm, most of this stuff is one-offs (ok, if he destroys it, he has to build another from the same or similar plans), but you can pretty much assume that most of the costs shown INCLUDE the development costs, which is one thing people don't Seem To Get around here.

  • dougfunnay

except they dont because development costs of things like his vehicles are usually billions of dollars for example something as simple as the toyota prius had a development cost of $1 billion (i also find it hilarious that wayne enterprises developed these things with the intention of selling them to the military and presumably showed these things off and batman later shows up with the only ones in existence.... but im willing to suspend my disbelief on that)
the values given on most of the things make no sense and they dont explain at all how they came to them

  • Brandon Allen

The suit pictured is the newer one from TDK, which is different than the one from BB.

  • dougfunnay

ok so it could be different (however i doubt his new armor is 100x cheaper than it was in previous movies)

  • Moneysupermarket.com? We're to believe them? A site that exists purely to save you money on your insurance. Yeah, right!

Alfred is getting gypped big time.
