Man, I Love That "OMG I'm About To Die" Feeling: Nepal's 87MPH, Mile-Long Zipline

June 8, 2012 / fast, having a great time, i love the feeling of near death -- it reminds me i'm still alive (but potentially just about to die), i've never ziplined before but i did go hang gliding one time in a dream (i was naked!), iffy, record, speed demons, sure why not, tourist attration, would try, you want a fast zipline? try jumping off the top of your apartment building holding a piece of rope, zipline, zipline jousting -- i called it, zoom zoom zoom

This is the ZipFlyer, an 87MPH zipline with "a vertical drop of almost 2,000 feet (600 meters) and a distance of almost 6,000 feet (1.8 kilometers)." According to the company responsible, that makes it the steepest and longest in the world although THIS ONE gets up to 100MPH, so I'm not sure if they're lying or not. Call me a loser, but I haven't been keeping up on zipline world records. Still, I like how you get to ride this one tandem with another person across from you. They should give you both swords so you can beat the shit out of each other on the way down.

Thanks to Liam, who's convinced in the future we'll all get around on ziplines instead of in cars. Please -- if the future of transportation isn't jetpacks I just want God to take me now.

    Cool, no angle change for breaking at the bottom. Nice opportunity to crash at near max speed :)

    I thought a zipline was the one where you held on to the small bar at the top. This you just sit in... that's hardly dangerous!
