Geekologie I Watch Stuff The Superficial

Sorry about the weird-behaving ad

Some of you guys are experiencing a T-Mobile ad that's hovering in the middle of the page, where it's not supposed to be. There's a problem with the ad and we're not sure why it's displaying like that, but if you're getting it, just hit refresh. The ad goes away and we get one more page view. It's a win win situation. Plus every time you look at the site my muscles get a little bit bigger, so really it's win win win.

    Sorry for the delay on darkening up the site. The vibe we got from you guys was that having to click a button was too annoying and most of you would rather the site just default to black. As such, we decided to just scrap the white altogether. And if we were going to only have ... / Continue →

    We thought maybe because there was less white your eyes would be able to withstand the brightness of your monitors, but apparently your corneas are even thinner than we imagined. Well fear not, cave-dwelling readers, we're working on a black option which we'll hopefully have ro... / Continue →

    The reason the Ad is being displayed in the middle of the page is because there is an inline CSS style telling it to be there. Its overriding your dark.css file.

    This is the inline code that is placing the Ad in the middle of the screen.
    style=" left: -200px; top: 0px; position: absolute; z-index: 1000000;"

    If you use your browers developer tools " F12 in IE" you can play with the CSS settings on a live site. If you change the -200px you can move the Ad around.

    Does this mean I get to play with your Bucky Balls GW?

  • What ad? I'm still partially blind from that solar flare of a white background you tried to kill me with!

  • you've been apologizing more than netflix lately, only I'll never break up with youuuu <3

  • LOL, its called Adblock plus people

  •  At least the ad isn't some ugly dude's face, amiright!?  Could be worse than the T-mobile girl getting in my face.

  • I couldn't even read this post because the T-Mobile ad covered most of it.

  • WhatAaaaaaaaaaaads?! Adblock, and problem solved.

  • Am I the only one who feels like the ad was going to eventually try to cover the page?
