Force Choking: European Burger Chain Rolls Out Star Wars Burgers To Celebrate 3-D Release Of Episode 1

January 5, 2012 / cheeseburger, deliciousness, fast food, force choking down a value meal, great marketing -- really *massive eyeroll*, have it your way or whatever, i don't get it, i'm lovin' it, star wars, sure why not, unlikely mashups, why?, wtf is on the yoda burger?

This is a line of limited edition cheeseburgers being rolled out by European burger franchise Quick to celebrate the release of Star Wars Episode 1 in 3-D. I hope George chokes on one. As you can see, the Darth Vader version has a black bun, the Darth Maul a red bun, and the Yoda burger has tauntaun jiblets on top. Or...something. Clever idea, but the Taco Bell by my apartment has already been selling Chewbacca tacos for months now. Get it? WEAR YOUR F***ING HAIR NET.

    Why are they called "Dark"s in Europe and not "Darth"s?

  • Also, "Darth Vader" is close enough to the Dutch for "Dark Father" they changed it for consistencies sake, since while the phrase is awesome it's not what the character is called. Presumably it's like that across Europe for the same reason.

    I'm also kind of worried what they've put into the bun of the Vader to make it black as coal. Not really sure that's entirely edible.

    The original translation for the Star Wars movies in France in the 70's was pretty bad, and some of it remains today. Especially the Darth/Dark thing (so in the French version, it's Dark Maul for instance).

    Darth Vader => Dark Vador
    Chewbacca => Chicktabba
    Han Solo => Ian Solo
    Death Star => Etoile noire (= Black star)
    C3PO => Z-6PO
    etc...

  • you can have a black bun in the states... just leave it outdoors for 6 mo, all the mold, fly larvae etc will turn that sucker black. ofc normally it would take a week but with all those preservatives, it takes 6 mo..

  • My girlfriend is in France and she was told by one of her French friends that it's about on par with (or maybe mostly worse than) McDonald's... so that's one thing...
