Feb 2 2011They Took Everything!: Google Accuses Microsoft Bing Of Stealing Search Results

Apparently Microsoft's search engine Bing has been stealing search results from Google and Google recently ran a sting operation to prove it. DAMN -- BUSTED, GATES! (Sorry, but we're all gonna have to hop the fence).
Google first smelled a rat when misspelled searches on Bing would bring up the same spelling corrected results as a Google search, even though Bing didn't attempt to correct the misspelled search term. Then they noticed a stronger than expected correlation between the top 10 results for many searches.
So they ran a sting, where they created "synthetic" searches by adding a random letter and number series to various web pages. A Bing search for that series returned no results until it was manually added to Google's search results, at which point it would magically appear in the Bing search.Bing hasn't actually denied Google's claim, saying only that they use "multiple signals and approaches" to create their results.
Haha, "multiple approaches". Well obviously one is "use Google's results", what are the other ones? "We don't actually have any other ones." WELL THROW SOME GEEKOLOGIE LINKS IN THERE, SHIT!

Can search results be considered property?
6. Sam - February 2, 2011 5:56 PM
No, it is not considered property. They are just uses the same tactics google uses. Taking information from other peoples websites and populating there own to make money. Not saying this is a bad thing as I think google is great tool.

I don't know what's worse. People who say "FIRST!!!!" or people who get the first post and still comment about how they got first. Ugh.
Anyway Bing sucks and nobody uses it anyway (except my dad)

I used Bing once. Hated it.

Bing is horrible. I've had alot of experiences there where the link took me to other Bing searches instead of the website it teased. I suspect they do this to get extra clicks on their site and drum up fake traffic for advertisers to drool over.

In fact Bill Gates doesn't have anything to do with Microsoft anymore.

I use Bing because I despise the controlling practices of Verizon and Google together. I hate how they try to make me use Google exclusively; that I can't set my default on my droid inc to what i want. There are many other dirty lil tricks these 'two' use to control their customers choices and they are nothing short of incidious. Sorry, i dont pay a huge fee every month to have V & G (haha) make my choices for me.
TRUTH; BING IS FASTER. BY A LONG SHOT. But i have issues with them filtering search results.
This is prolly just backlash because others like me have gotten sick of being controlled by the (i like to say) Google nazis. There are TONS of people with these phones. It's not Verizon's or Google's biz orconcern who i use to search. All Verizon needs to be concerned with isthat i pay my large bill every month. They are vrry very greedy and V and G have plans to control and milk their customers dry,and we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg. I hate these 'two' with a passion. I plan on rooting my phone soon, so i can have control in my choices, as it should be. V & G went to Congress to try to pass a law so that they can get their greedy fingers even more around the consumers throat.
Wake up, people. These Co are greedy rotten insidious bastards. I will use ANYONE BUT GOOGLE. I didnt sign upfor 'this'. Anyonewith this service, phone(s) knows of what i am speaking.
There is HUGE money involved, and these co are just getting warmed up. Verizon has, hands-down the best phones and they know it- that is a huge factor giving them incredible (!) leverage in this game. Hope the governmentcomes downon them, but its hard to keep up with V&G act.
If they keep it up, i will be going to Straight talk. Consumers revolt! Nunya bizness V&G, my choices are mine- NOT YOURS. This article gave me a good laugh. Also Google is very shady about leaving things out of search results that dont favor them/interests.
Also i believe think someone will comeup with a servicethat blows Google away; non-repetitive searches and not so ad favoring results. Google sucks, their day is coming. It's hilarious and telling that theyre whining about lil ol Bing, haha. Also, i have no doubt that V&G collaboratively have and are breaking many many laws. This confirms my belief that V&G also illegally spy on their customers and try to unfairly control their choices.
I dont consider Bing a great or good alternative at all, but i will use ANYONE but Google. And i will be laughing my ass off when something when something better, cool and fair comes along. And it will.

But what also made me jump ship with Google, is the stupid unreliable crappy dumb settings they use. Set preferences? Right, so they can change it for me again and again? Their news page settings is an agravating JOKE. Their shit's wacked and frustrating. I found that out 2 yrs ago with my first gmail account. Unconventional, quirky and weird. Bing does none of that stupid crap, and ive come to see that Google 'services' is just half-baked hype. Stupid of them really. Half-ass not honed and polished, but listen to them (and all their paid hacks out there) they think they are the greatest.

Hahaha, has anyone stopped to consider how Google got this info? They were obviously looking very closely at Bing's results... makes you wonder if it's not a case of everyone copying everyone. :)

Hi,
Dont you think its interesting to see google doing the auto preview now.
Also have you noticed that they are making both advertising platforms a little less editorially controlled.
I mean, hey, the have basically said that adsense arbitrage is ok now!!
