Jan 25 2011Taco Bell Being Sued For False Advertising Because Their 'Ground Beef' Is Actually Only 35% Ground Beef (The Rest Is Cockroaches)

A group of Alabamians have filed a class-action lawsuit (which was probably presented to them as a petition to lower the distance of legal marriages from 2nd cousins to 1st. Just kidding -- you can already marry first cousins in more than half the states!) against diarrhea-giant Taco Bell for false advertising 'seasoned ground beef' that is, in fact, only 35% ground beef and the rest puckered pig @$$holes. You know, or "water, wheat oats, soy lecithin, maltodrextrin, anti-dusting agent and modified corn starch." Whoa whoa whoa -- modified corn starch?! THE LADY IN THE DRIVE-THRU SWORE IT WAS UNMODIFIED!
The meat mixture sold by Taco Bell restaurants contains binders and extenders and does not meet the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be labeled as "beef," according to the legal complaint.
Attorney Dee Miles said attorneys had Taco Bell's "meat mixture" tested and found it contained less that 35 percent beef. The lawsuit on behalf of Taco Bell customer and California resident Amanda Obney does not seek monetary damages, but asks the court to order Taco Bell to be honest in its advertising.
HA, LIKE ANYBODY THOUGHT THAT SHIT WAS ACTUAL GROUND BEEF IN THE FIRST PLACE! "Uh GW, this is Alabama we're talking about." Touché But seriously, I lived in Huntsville, Alabama for 10 years and lemme tell you: my sister never looked so good. (I don't actually have a sister, otherwise I'd be choking to death on my own vomit right now).

Thanks to killerabbit and Brittany, who agree a Cheesy Gordita Crunch and Baja Blast is where it's at. Where WHAT'S at exactly -- painful gas?

I heard it was grade F meat (dog food) but I didn't know it was only 30% of that lol. mcdonalds advertises 100% pure beef as well, but I doubt that is true.
8. Alazam - January 25, 2011 4:19 PM
I mean I'm glad you agree Jorge but finding a pube SHOULD stop a person

Um, the law firm may be in Alabama, but the plaintiff is a resident of, and the lawsuit was filed in, California.

Who cares if it's only 35% pure beef and the rest is cat meat. The shit tastes great when you're drunk. At least Taco Bell keeps the stray cat population down...

I'm in Alabama and i have known for years not to eat the meat in Taco Hell. I saw a Taco Hell employee drop her glove on the floor, pick it up and start preparing my food one time. After a short argument i left without food and never went back. She swore the glove was ok because she hadn't put it on yet when it hit the floor? still confused on how she came to that conclusion.

I love that they're not asking for any money, just for Taco Bell to be honest. That's the finest use of our legal system I've seen in YEARS!

Textured Vegetable Protein.

I wouldn't think so, I'm just say that Taco Bells representative is full of it because you can add every seasoning in the world to ground beef and it would never taste anything like their so called beef.

I work at Taco Bell. It's mostly oats (according to the box). It comes in a bag and we boil it in hot water. Same with the chicken and steak but meh, been eating it almost every day for almost 2 years. Oatmeals good and beef is good, so beef flavored oatmeal? Why not?
25. jack@feetonplastic.com - January 26, 2011 10:53 AM
Geekologie is only covering this so they can now write off Taco Bell runs as a business expense.
26. llama4114 - January 26, 2011 11:24 AM
if they changed it since 2005 it's was grade C and the top three ingredients are oat meal, camel coloring, and processed beef.... i use to hang out in the cooler to avoid work so i took the time to read the side of the box
