Dec 7 2010Sadness: Top 10 Yahoo! Searches Of 2010

Because I like depressing the hell out of myself (I've been told it builds character), the top 10 Yahoo! searches of 2010 are, in no a very particular order (read: from 1 to 10) are, drum-roll please:
- BP Oil Spill
- World Cup
- Miley Cyrus
- Kim Kardashian
- Lady Gaga
- iPhone
- Megan Fox
- Justin Bieber
- American Idol
- Britney Spears
To put things in perspective, I'm actually climbing over the railing of my balcony right now. I'm coming, sidewalk!

Thanks to Michael, who agrees the only thing sadder is the top ten AOL searches.

Sick. Also first?
2. Jonathan - December 7, 2010 11:32 AM
Britney is still a hot topic? Tragic.
3. Sgt Rebel - December 7, 2010 11:32 AM
come on, Really? people search the internet for things other then pr0n? I mean, i can see Megan Fox. But shouldn't the rest be related to what we all know the interwebs where created for? the sharing of low quality, amatuer or DVD ripped Pr0n videos and pictures...
4. Bran - December 7, 2010 11:33 AM
Yahoo? What is that?
5. Nataya - December 7, 2010 11:35 AM
No, GW don't jump, use the stairs, it's healthier!
6. clarification - December 7, 2010 11:35 AM
@3 Just add "nude" to each item on the list to see what people are really searching for. The BP pics are especially hot.
7. Jonathan - December 7, 2010 11:37 AM
@6: Nude iPhones really appeal to a niche market.

Neytiri didn't make top-10!? NOOOOOOO!?!?!?!?!?!!?
Guess I'll be changing all those tattoos to Britney then. Google me baby one more time!
11. Dishy - December 7, 2010 11:59 AM
The hot google searches today include "syphilis" and "immaculate conception". Some poor guy's asking himself "why me??".
Or ... I could've gone with a "your mom really gets around" joke.
12. naas - December 7, 2010 12:02 PM
@2 tragic is right... I agree
How's the comments section been lately fellow readers? I've been away & always hate missing my daily dose of geekologie. I'm sure Dishy has been keeping things afloat but I can't assume it will last forever.
Has GW done anything about all the ad-bot comments yet? I haven't read back yet....
13. Dishy - December 7, 2010 12:03 PM
Also in the top google searches: "throne of tides entrance location" and "qwap".

14. naas - December 7, 2010 12:06 PM
@13 ahh you're right there :)
After reading through the previous posts' comments I see (sadly) nothing has changed yet
15. Jonathan - December 7, 2010 12:14 PM
@14: Nope. Although a response back from GW via e-mail says that a change in site format is on the way, so hopefully the problem is fixed down the line.
At this point, posting in the comments section is hit-or-miss. You might see some quality posts, or you might see an article with nothing but 50 Jonathan/Seth/McFeely clones copy-pasting the same comments over and over again.
Welcome back.
16. DH - December 7, 2010 12:24 PM
yo naasity, welcome back
still mad bots, still same ol' hilarious g-dub. and Dishy? she still makes me poop the pants daily. that's right I guessed 'she'.
17. fzombies I'm out - December 7, 2010 12:29 PM
Yahoo? Please, what kind of red neck is using the webs?
18. naas - December 7, 2010 12:31 PM
God dammit dumbass ad-bots... One simple scripting change barring any URLS to comments on the forum would fix it all anticlowns but noooo.... Thanks for responding :)
@15 GW told me those changes could take up to 99 years. This of course, was just before I bitch slapped him to the floor and said 'Hehehe... oh you're bleeding sorry but NO SRSLY when??'
@16 poop your pants daily?? Damn Dishy, send that guy a washing machine or something
19. Nataya - December 7, 2010 12:36 PM
@16 So it was you who bought those diapers! (Sorry I couldn't help myself).
20. mike - December 7, 2010 12:43 PM
all this shows is what freaks use yahoo for web searches.
21. Dishy - December 7, 2010 12:47 PM
@naas, I was wondering where you'd gone. Missed ya like I miss my deadlines. Like Johnathon misses the punch lines. ;)
Speaking of, I disagree @Johnathon. Things have been pretty damn funny lately. Glad you're such a good sport.
@DH, I'm actually in real-life a guy. At least last time I checked.
22. Shelbon - December 7, 2010 12:50 PM
Yep, Dishy is keepin' it real
23. naas - December 7, 2010 12:53 PM
@21 just another project that needed completing. Doing this sometimes requires 100% of my attention & I rarely give 100% to anything in life these days. Glad things haven't been dull though, nobody likes dull except those little fem droids on the next post
24. McFeely Smackup - December 7, 2010 12:55 PM
Since "Star Wars" wasn't on the top search list, I can only assume that publishing it here was a mistake.
Maybe Yahoo should have published a list of "top 10 search engines used in 2010" and see if they even make the list.
25. Dinosaur Rex - December 7, 2010 12:55 PM
But like 20 people uses yahoo, does that really matters?
26. Staplegun - December 7, 2010 12:56 PM
Looks like the pre-teens are taking over the internet.

34. Smaggy - December 7, 2010 2:03 PM
Yahoo? Really? That search engine's so overwhelmed with Flashturbation it's amazing anyone can dig their way to the entry field.
35. hai - December 7, 2010 3:02 PM

My friend used to work at Yahoo and he told me that the actual top 10 (more like top 100) searches are all porn-related.
The top 10 they actually give us are basically fabricated.
Can't really say it's surprising, right?
38. ryemac3 - December 7, 2010 9:33 PM
I'm calling bullshit on this one. We all know these top 10 search results things are always filtered. Come on, like "free porn" wasn't #1!
39. Sushi - December 8, 2010 10:08 PM
xD try searching '50 Most Popular Women on the Web'
