Oct 29 2010U.S. Map According To Where Movies Took Place
Woops. Big enough to be read version HERE.
This is a map of the United States according to movies that took place in the various states. As you can see, 'What about Bob?' took place in, uh, what is that, North Hampshire? Okay so I failed geography, big deal. Also, my most recent drug test, which means I have to report back to the clink on Monday. Ha, Monday. Like I'm not gonna wake up there tomorrow! Love the smell of a holding-cell in the morning. Getting teabagged, not so much.

Wayne's World takes place in Aurora, IL and Milwaukee, WI. Most certainly not Delaware.
FAIL.
10. Anthony Del Vecchio - October 29, 2010 5:17 PM
Wayne's World wasn't Delaware. I know there was a Delaware joke in the movie, but still.
11. Anthony - October 29, 2010 5:19 PM
God damn fucking autofill, with my name.
12. Joe - October 29, 2010 5:20 PM
I'm glad someone caught it, Wayne's World is a staple Illinois movie! A lot of people who ask if you're from Aurora mention Wayne's World. It also has shots of Cicero, too.
13. Nate - October 29, 2010 5:20 PM
In Wyoming's defense (since i am from there) the fucking movie wasn't even shot there... it just mentions they are in wyoming when they were no where near it for filming...
14. Ballisticturtle - October 29, 2010 5:27 PM
North Dakota should have been Fargo, and Minnesota should have been Mallrats.

Most of Fargo took place in Minnesota so it makes sense there. And Mallrats is a wankin movie for wankers.

Part of Brokeback Mountain was in Wyoming... in Grand Teton Nat'l Park.
But yeah, when they're in the mountains it's not nearly so green and mossy here as in the movie. YAY Canada!
(yes, I'm from Wyoming)

Mallrats was filmed in Eden Prairie, MN but it's still supposed to be in Jersey... which is why it is part of the "Jersey Trilogy."
30. Becca - October 29, 2010 7:27 PM
I had never heard of 'Deliverance' so I thought I'd look that up seeing as how I live in GA.

38. ihatedelware - October 29, 2010 9:13 PM

39. Idiots - October 29, 2010 10:04 PM
Hi ... I'm in Delaware ...
Do you not get the joke the map is positing? NO MOVIES WERE SET IN DELAWARE BECAUSE DELAWARE SUCKS!
Also, Mallrats is awesome. Suck it.
Thank you.
40. Yeags - October 29, 2010 10:09 PM
It's good to know that the guy that made the map had the good sense to not label Washington as "Twilight"
41. DeeplyTroubled - October 29, 2010 10:23 PM
@22 - how about Witness, or better yet, Rocky (I or II)
42. Mr. Oblivious - October 30, 2010 12:26 AM
What about the Star Wars Trilogy?
43. Benjamin - October 30, 2010 1:08 AM
Wayne's World in Delaware!? What the hell? Both Wayne's World movies were almost exclusively about Aurora, IL. Fucking fascists.
44. Cassidy - October 30, 2010 1:15 AM
Wow... somebody else has actually heard of Gummo.
45. kyle - October 30, 2010 3:25 AM

48. trute - October 30, 2010 2:42 PM

49. D - October 30, 2010 5:44 PM
Theres Something About Mary for RI?
I thought that took place in FL?
50. Common Loon - October 31, 2010 2:42 AM
98% of "Fargo" took place in Minnesota, so it's an acceptable choice. "Grumpy Old Men" would have been good too.

52. Jon Cake - October 31, 2010 1:23 PM
This map sucks because:
a) Whoever made it seems to have been unable to get "takes place in" and "was filmed in" straight.
b) White text on light blue.
c) White text on bright yellow? Fuck off.
Also, have no other movies actually been set in Delaware?
53. @56 - October 31, 2010 11:46 PM
@55, it's even dumber than that. From the source page:
"The United States Of Movies - Redditor Subtonix has made an awesome map of what movie he thinks each US state best represents. There are a select few that will keep me far far away! "
So this has absolutely nothing to do with where each movie was filmed or where it took place.
This map also sucks because it didn't list "Titanic" in the Atlantic and "The Little Mermaid" in the Pacific.

True story: my old high school were the villain team in "Remember the Titans." My junior-year English teacher was this 350-lb white guy who taught our class with a Moby Dick hand puppet. He was on the football team the year that story took place, and the guy in the film with his jersey number is played by this tall, skinny black guy. He loved to tell the story of how he transformed into a fat white dude after graduating from high school.
They REALLY did their homework on that one.
57. Martin - November 1, 2010 10:24 AM
Neither Fight Club (Cali.) nor Empire Records (North Carolina) was shot in Delaware. Nothing happens in Delaware because it is New Jersey's Taint!
58. KC - November 1, 2010 10:37 AM
are there really so few movies out there that we need to use "jesus camp" twice? how bout "the assassination of jesse james..." for missouri?
59. Adam - November 1, 2010 12:39 PM
I'm originally from Ohio- Gummo, while first being just a horribly useless film, also has nothing in common with Xenia, OH, it's more like mississippi or something.
60. Peter - November 1, 2010 2:13 PM
I saw this a long time ago on reddit. The idea as it was presented on reddit wasn't "states according to movies that took place inside," but rather "states by what movie I think best represents them." It works much better that way...
61. carolinemichelle - November 2, 2010 9:59 AM
"Rocket Boys" which they put in for West Virginia is actually called "October Sky" which is based on the book, Rocket Boys. Who made this thing? Between that and the Wayne's World discrepancy, I'm not sure I believe half of the other stuff on there! Clever idea, bad execution! I agree with everything @Jon Cake said.
62. T-Wray - November 2, 2010 11:24 AM
The movie "What About Bob" some of the movie was shot in Virginia. In Moneta Virginia where I grew up. Near Smith Mountain Lake.
63. Victory - November 3, 2010 11:28 AM
First Blood was not shot in Washington state. It was filmed in Hope, B.C.
64. Boom - November 14, 2010 3:13 PM
Deliverance was suppose to take place in West Virgina! Not GA!
65. Boom - November 14, 2010 3:15 PM
Oooops. Nevermind.
66. JoeDE - November 15, 2010 9:53 AM
Fight Club wasn't shot in Delaware, but it most certainly took place in Delaware. They talk about 3 Cities in Delaware and Delaware is pretty much the credit card capitol of the United States.
