Wasn't that Michael Jai White as Jax (or "Jacks" I guess in this case)? If so it leads me to believe that it's for a movie versus a game, and I'd heard elsewhere (weeks ago) that it was indeed the movie being re-booted. Hopefully the whole thing will look like that.

Seeing as Jeri Ryan http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005394/ is playing Sonya Blade in the video posted above (either that, or the resemblance is uncanny). I know Jeri Ryan is not hugely known, but i doubt she is obtainable by some "run of the mill" fan. Though she could be a fan herself, ha ha ha.

This movie looks good but die hard MK fans are gonna be pissed with the direction the movie is going with Baraka and Reptile both being human. Unless Reptile is in his human disguise and shows his true form later in the movie. Baraka is completely wrong though.

To all the people that are saying that this little clip is for a game... that is false... it has been confirmed with many movie websites that the 8min clip shown above is has no relation to the next installment of the MK video game series... It has been confirmed that the clip is in relation to the upcoming reboot of the MK film series... many say that the slip shows that the new film is going to have a very "Noir" feel to the design (think the Noir Marvel comic books)... very gritty... dark... like the MK series should be.

Wow they screwed up the story so much it's sick. It looks cool but the story isn't anywhere near actual MK.

This is worst the horribly casted and advertised "The Last Airbender", or that Dragon Age trailer that actually played MARYLIN MANSON music.

A movie with the whole "Outland" / "Other realm" garbage was already made, so I don't see why people are complaining about that - it's just a bullshit story to give the game some background. I actually like the first movie, but something dark, gritty, and "real" like this would make a far better movie (and conversely a much worse game - go figure).

As a Mortal Kombat movie this is already a total failure in my eyes... As a generic action movie under another name this is absolutely a HUGE win. Good luck to whoever financed this... it could go either way.

Could be worse, for a pilot teaser this didn't seem that poorly done. This method was used for selling the idea of the film adaptation of sin city and paid off. Frankly, the other MK movies were crap and tried to stick to the main plot line. If this trailer is any indication the full film would actually be worth watching. It's attempting to add a bit of realism to the MK experience without being as bad or as cheesy as the first attempts.

Reptile wasn't born human, he was a Saurian, or Raptor (that was their name in the story). To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the new scorpion either.

I am however a fan of the gore and targeting an adult crowd seeing as all of us that grew up on MK are definitely not kids anymore, lol. Let's get this right, people. I can't believe people are actually mad that it's not traditional MK. They tried that... kinda... and they failed. Whoever made this probably knows all about the origins of Reptile and Baraka and threw them out the window. You know why, because this is a REIMAGINING. You can't possibly fuck up the story because you're telling a different story.

All that being said I think this looks awesome. I personally like what they've done with the story and if it does get made into a movie, I'm definitely going to be checking it out in theaters.

This is a TEASER. This could have nothing to do with the actual storyline, or everything to do with this. This is just a taste of the TYPE of movie they want to create, the DIRECTION they want to take the franchise.

This is many, many times better than the "true to storyline" straight-to-DVD movies they made before. This looks like it might actually be somewhat entertaining.

Hell, at the very worst it will be a poorly done Sin City which honestly is better than most of the shit coming out these days.

Wait.... Mortal Kombat had a story?

Since I'm a fan of the games, I really wanted to see a proper MK movie. This one seems to be trying to go the Christopher Nolan Batman route (which may or may not work out as well), and taking some major liberties with the backstories and looks of the characters.
The original adaptations were somewhat close to the game, but they were so watered down... and the sequel was just horrible.

While I'd like to see something different that what's already being/been done, I also think that this will most likely be badass.
