Jun 28 2010I'm Down: Scientists Invent Male Birth Control

male-birth-control.jpg

Pfft, I got neutered years ago. In a lawnmowing accident. That make anybody's nuts hurt? No? Okay try this one: so one time I was walking home from the bar and *CROTCH PUNCH!* Haha, bet you didn't see that one coming.

The scientist behind the male pill discovery has developed a tablet that removes a vital protein in sperm that is required for a woman to conceive.

So while sperm still get through to the uterus they are unable to fertilise an egg.

A big drawback against men being in control of fertility is the fear they would forget to take a pill.

Polls have repeatedly shown wives and partners do not trust their men to remember to pop a pill every day.

But now that problem has been solved. The new pill can be taken either once a month or once every three months.

Listen -- whatever it takes to stop stupid people from breeding, I'm all for it. And that goes for me too. Which is exactly why I rubberbanded by balls till they fell off. Kidding, I lost them in a shark crocodile attack. Psyche, they were torn off by a branch when I fell out of a tree after saving a kitten. What? ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR?!

Scientists invent first male contraceptive pill [telegraph]

Thanks to jabberw0ck, who controls birth the old fashioned way: with lightning bolts from atop Mt. Olympus. ZOMG -- DO YOU KNOW KRATOS?!

hahahahahaaaaaaa

err yeah I took it :/

First you need a woman for that.

Who needs a pill when you have a face like mine.

stupid people + stupid people = no birth control anyways + child

new pill had no effect.

I already have a form of birth control. It's called 'being disgusting'.

I could see this dramatically reducing the population. I am sure a lot of men will be secretly taking this pill... myself included.

OMG I SEE A MISPELED WURD!!!1!

Huh. Sounds too good to be true.

Wow... first time I've seen a typo.
Slipping up GW... something to do with the topic?

I find the best contraceptive is just being yourself.

oh man, I hope this works out.

Spencer from The Hills is gonna luuuv this!

This wouldn't work for me. My GF is a virgin and I still got her pregnant. Just by holding my hand.

@13
or someone else's penis found its way into her vag

Sign me the fuck up! I'll take 12 packs of the three monthers!

Women don't trust men to take the pill? How about men who don't trust women? I have no faith in my wifes ability to use contraception after two little "accidents".

I love them both though

Hey Naas. This could finally let us copulate without worry. Those monthly abortions were getting expensive anyway.

So, what if the male was extra cautious and took more than the recommended dosage? Like... a lot more. Could he make anti-babies?

Where's the fun if you take the bullet out of the gun?

I thought I wanted to have a lot of kids..... after the 2nd kid we decided, "two and through". I figure this way, when we go on roller coasters as a family, we don't have a 3rd kid who has to sit with a stranger.... just sayin

"A big drawback against men being in control of fertility is the fear they would forget to take a pill."

HAHAHAHAHA, and we all know how reliable women are at taking the pill. no woman has ever intentionally "oopsie'd" to get a baby from some guy who isn't ready.

this thinly veiled "fear" is actually fear over men gaining control over their reproductive rights. don't be fooled fellas.

"Listen -- whatever it takes to stop stupid people from breeding, I'm all for it. And that goes for me too. Which is exactly why I rubberbanded my balls till they fell off."

Classic! I snorted my drink from GNC (aka Wet Sand 3000)out my nose. Now I've been sneezing for 20 minutes

@ #21: You already have the right to buy and wear condoms, friend.

@23 right, so when a guy trusts his girlfriend when she says that she's on the pill and doesn't use condoms because he believes he's in a stable monogamous and honest relationship, and his girlfriend is lying and gets pregnant, thus putting him on the rack for child support for the next 18 years.... well, thats just his fault for trusting a woman, right?

#24 trust no one. everyone is out to get you.
if you do it without birth control,, expect the unexpected consequences

Why take pills when you can use a condom?... Which works out well it seems >.>

Condoms are great!....if you're a chick. Wearing a condom is like f****ing in a grocery bag. Of course, they don't trust us. That would completely ruin their child support scheme, where she expects you to take care of her and her kid, though she still lives with her parents. I would trust a dude more, if I were a chick with this stuff. Oh, sure. I'd love a kid to screw my paycheck every two weeks for 18 years! Sounds like fun! Let's do that!

This is going to be the end of civilization.

For the first time in history, men are actually in control of the decision to have a child. Yikes.

Now, before anybody jumps down my throat with , "Hey asshole, what about condoms?" let's be real. Condoms suck. Even the most baby-averse among us (all of us) will bend over backwards to hit it raw. Even those of us who don't mind wrapping it up still realise it's a pain in the ass to ensure that you will always have a condom handy when it's needed.

Consequence-free (almost) casual sex is going to skyrocket. The only thing reproducing will be epic strains of ninja AIDS that will eventually kill us all.

What hath science wrought?

So... no condoms AND I don't have to screw with my wife's hormonal balance. Sign... me... UP!

Who cares!!! My boyfriend thinks the same with me. He- is eight years older than me, lol. We met online at an age gap dating site [A_g_e_m_i_n_g_l_e @ c.//o.//m]---a nice and free place for Younger- Women and Older Men, or Older Women and Younger Men, to interact with each other. Maybe you wanna check out or- tell your friends

I don't know about the rest of you but I prefer to plant my seed wherever I go. Women, vacuum cleaners, barnyard animals, mysterious holes in walls, the rear booth at a Waffle House. It is our duty to impregnate anything and everything so that when the aliens come we have a ready army.

@ 28 & 29

Yes and yes!

Women are worried men will forget to take the pill?

WOMEN?
What will their flawless record in the area of birth control.
I think they're worried that men might actually take it and show them how its done or worse yet take it and they wont be able to "accidentally" get pregnant when they want too.

Old news is OOOOOLLLLDDDD, This stuff has been under research for about 5 years now.

What I want to hear is that they have approved it to be on the market.

I'm curious to see if the male version has the libido tanking side effects of the female version. It was always a double edged sword for me- when I wasn't taking the pill I was so worried about getting pregnant I couldn't enjoy it. When I was on the pill and could enjoy it because I didn't have to worry about getting pregnant, the hormones made me not want to have sex. And before anyone jumps on me, yes, I did try every pill out there to try and find the right hormone balance. And no, nothing worked. They were all shit. Either I had no interest in sex, or I couldn't come. What's the fucking point?

Just to be clear, I find that comparable to your "sex in a shopping bag" analogy.

Good luck with that one, guys. You'll need it.

@23 IT feels much better without a condom so most men will take advantage of not having to use one thus forcing us to trust our partner.

man, thanks goodness they finally found it!
so tire of having to take the pills myself, time for the man to take responsability :)

im a woman and don't worry we dont care if u do take the pill for urself, u're doing us women a huge FAVOR!

LOVE, PEACE :)

Lets be honest. A man is a fool if he leaves the contraception to the woman.
Forget the "dont you trust me" emotional blackmail crap. He needs to be sure for himself and that is the only reason a man should be on the pill so this is great news for us.

@37 Oh yeah because popping a pill every day is soooooooooooooo hard. This is great news every man should be taking this when it comes out. No more women "forgetting" to take her pill in order to trap a man with child support payments.

The idea that men would forget this has always been bull. A pill that would keep women (married to them or not) from having an accidental pregnancy! Shoot guys will carry it around in a Pez dispenser. Besides this would not be a problem, if you are a women who doesn't want to be pregnant and don't trust guys, keep taking your pills. I mean it's not like they cancel each other out.

Condoms seem like an easy trick unless your married for a while and she forgets. You also, in a long relationship or marriage , can get a women who says she doesn't like the feel of condoms or allergic to them. This will eliminate control of one partner over another.

How effective is it?

I could see myself slipping these into the drinks of a few of my friends. I love them but they fuck like rabbits and if they reproduce itll end up being the spawn of satan.

As a woman even I agree condoms are uncomfortable but, for the most part they are needed. Not only do some women get ill effects from birth control, but condoms are what is needed to help prevent STDs and STIs. Stuff like HPV can be passed without you knowing it if there was a random wart one didn't notice. It's disgusting but true! Know your parts! Know your partners! LOL

There is always the consideration on committed relationships, but that's a personal decision. On both sides, male and female.

Still if you really don't want to get pregnant and a condom won't be in the picture, yay for the pill on both sides!

men of geekologie, chill the f*ck out!

i'd be thrilled if i could leave the responsibility to my boyfriend without worries. the problem is, whoever forgets to take the pill, it's still me who would get pregnant. i would accept the consequences if the mistake was mine, but am i willing to risk someone else making a mistake i'm going to have to deal with?

let us not be ridiculous. still, i think the male pill is a fantastic invention, and it can be used at the same time as other contraceptives to reduce risks. good times!

I want this so my girlfriend wont have to deal with this shit anymore.

I guess he can carry it around in his MAN PURSE!

On a serious note: Who said men should take responsibility for a couple's birth control scenario? Who ever heard of a woman allowing a man to take responsibility for HER body. No sir! it will never happen, and anyway, who cares? Men have a right to be able to control their own bodies any way they wish. Who ever heard of a man having a baby anyway? A male 'pill' would /might stop a great deal of female con jobs happening. Check out the statistics - check out who YOUR father was!

This would be perfect for those guys with psycho girlfriends that want to get prego to trap them!!
